Many years ago, I purchaed a mower from this place. Had an issue with the mower was told it would be fixed under warranty (they said NO charge). Two weeks later I go to see if its done and and the bill is over $60 for a blade sharpening and a tune up! When I questioned them they said Leroy had called and asked if I wanted the blade sharpened and a tune up. I never got that call and had to pay for a blade sharpening and a tune up on a month old mower! Don't go there the are dishonest !! read more

First time I've been here in over 6 years since the last time they screwed me over. I knew I shouldn't have but I was in a hurry to get my chainsaw fixed. I dropped it off. Waited to hear from them for two weeks. Went in to see if it was done. They said no, they would call me when it was done. I waited a week and a half and went back and complained I hadn't heard from them. I was told that they called me and left a message. I pulled out my phone to see if i missed it. There was no message. I told the guy he didn't leave a message. He said he did. I showed him my phone and asked him where it was. He said I don't know about that I left a message. I yelled don't lie to me just say you screwed up. He yelled back he wasn't lying. He said he had to order a part and would call me when it was done. A week later I hadn't heard from him so I went in to see if it was done. I was told no but they couldn't give me an idea when it would be done. I went back a couple of days later and asked and this time was told the part came in that day. They did call me the next day and I picked it up. Over 5 weeks to get a simple Repair done. This time I don't care how convenient they are I will NEVER return. read more

I would given them a zero. I bought a grass trimmer from them. The line on the trimmer curved down and ripped up my grass down to the dirt. I tried their "Easy Return" to return it but they only accept returns for UNUSED products. How do you know it's defective if you don't use it? They refused the return. Beware of dealing with them. They don't stand behind their product nor their "Easy Return" policy. read more

This hardware store takes care of customers and has a great selection of everyday hardware and tools. My only problem with the store is their out of the way location. Their address says they are located in Coopersburg. However, this store is actually in Upper Saucon Township, closer to Center Valley. To succeed in business one has to be in a well travelled visible location, especially with the competition from the Big Box stores. read more

Madle's hardware is my favorite place to come when I need to pick up something quick from the hardware store. It conveniently located off of 309 in Center Valley. They have a great selection of items, that are decent quality and also at a decent price. Never had a problem with the customer service at this location, in fact i'd say its stellar and the place is always kept clean. Today was the first time I did business at Madle's. I was looking for an odd size grill cover and an outdoor umbrella cover. I checked the ACE website last night and went to the store today. IA gentleman greeted me as soon as I entered and asked what I needed. I gave him the part numbers from the website and he came back with the grill cover but did not have the umbrella cover. He said he could order it and I could pick it up on Friday. Then he told me to wait and he looked at his computer screen and went to look for something. He came back with the cover I needed so I purchased both items. The prices were less than the big box stores and the service was excellent. Next time I need something I will be returning again. It is a 15 minute drive from my home but more than worth it. read more

Stay away!!!!! I can't even begin to explain the disappointment I have towards this small business. This is what you get when you support a local business with high prices. Upon arrival greeted with smiles and great customer service, I had spoken with someone about getting a storm window repaired. We had agreed to have seal around window replaced for the approximate price of $20. And if that does not fix problem with loose glass that any other repairs to contact me. The next day I received a text message that my repair was done. At first I thought there was some poor communication because I arrive to a window not repaired, but just a window with the old seal I had pulled out to show the sale associates pushed back in. Then I was informed by an employee there I believe his name was Leroy that my bill was $10.60. HIGHWAY ROBBERY!!!!!!! Ten dollars to have them hold my window over night and hand it back to me. What a joke! It's not the big box stores that put these businesses out of business. It's their poor customer service. read more

I recently took my lawn mower in to Madle's for minor repairs. I had consulted a friend of mine from my old home town who has a mower repair service and described the symptoms to him. He said it sounded like there was gunk in the fuel bowl that had to be cleaned out. He also said that this was a fairly simple thing and should take an experienced mower mechanic less than half an hour. Since I had never done anything like that before, I called Madle's because my car was not big enough to transport the mower. Madle's had a pick up and delivery service (which I found out later was 35 bucks each way). Madle's called me and told me their "experts" had diagnosed the "problems", and that the mower needed new cables, a new spark plug, the blade sharpened, etc., etc. I explained that the cables were perfectly functional, the spark plug was simply fouled and just needed to be cleaned (which I had the equipment to do). I also explained that I had a bench grinder and I had personally been sharpening the blade for years. They were adamant that their "experts" had diagnosed these problems, and they were the only ones capable of doing the "repairs". The "manager" was very indignant, and condescending. I told them just bring the mower back. They told me that would incur an additional transportation charge. I told them to just keep the mower. The "transportation" charges alone were more than the mower was worth. Word to the wise, STAY AWAY FROM MADLE'S HARDWARE. What would have been a simple, inexpensive repair for them, they turned it into the old "bait and switch" game. I told them very simply what I wanted. They simply refused to do it. I like that fact that Madle's is local store, and not to far from our house. But this is the 2nd bad experience that we have had there with price. Last week my husband called to see how much it would be to service the lawn mower. They gave him two prices full services, and oil changes and blade sharpened. So we went for the less one of $63 dollars. Then when he went to pick it up, the bill was $103. The employees said no that is the price and walked away. 1st off rude, and 2nd off get your information straight. The service was on the bill as 73 and the extra cost was for parts. Tell me how you can be $40 off the actual price. We are done with them. read more

Warning - do not bring anything to get repaired there!!!!! We brought our snow blower to get fixed on Sunday 3/25. We were told that it would be ready by Friday, final price after mechanic looks it over to see what the issue is. We would get a call on Monday to let us know what would need to be fixed. No Problem, we were happy because snow was in the forecast for Friday. We received a call on Wednesday (Not Monday) that they needed to order a part, still would be ready for Friday. Its Friday, its snowing outside, and we call again. It is not ready, still working on it, pick up on Monday. We call on Monday, get a different associate and was told they just received the part so the mechanic could not work on it. Funny, I was told the other day they had the part. So who is lying? We call back on Wednesday, it is still not ready. Now I wanted to speak to a manager/owner ... was told that he was out to lunch. The associate said they would call me back. No Call back!! We called again on Thursday, the blower is finally ready but we are not available to pick it up. I ask to speak to the owner, Leroy, again....again not there! (Shocker!). The associate told me he would call me Friday morning after speaking to him. Call Friday morning, was told by the same associate, he thought I was coming in to speak to the owner, Why do I have to come in? Is it so hard to pick up the phone and call your customer. Why should I go out of my way. By Friday afternoon, we call back again, got a different associate. Again was told Leroy was not there, nothing was left on our invoice as far a a discount etc. After all these many many phone calls, only one person apologized. UNACCEPTABLE!!. If this is how you treat your local customer, I would rather drive farther away for anything we may need than go back to this location. Recap - We were promised a repair in 5 days, it took from March 25th until April 6th for us to have our snowblower back - missed 2 snow events- how can they not think this is an issue!!! read more

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Madle's! I grew up going to the store with my Dad, and now I take my kids. They are super friendly, always helpful, and good selection. I would MUCH rather support a local hardware store than a big box store. So glad we have this little treasure in our community! read more
