I flew up from 3 states away and brought my lens in for cleaning and any repairs that might be discovered during the standard cleaning process. I was assured this could be done in 3-4 days based on the backlog. I brought my lens in on November 3, 2025 at 11:15am akdt. I told the guy I'd be back to pick it up on November 15 or 16. He said that would be no problem and more than enough time. I went to pick it up on November 17 at 4:20pm. I went in because my flight out is tomorrow at 1:50pm. I called at 12:56pm, but he didn't answer or return my call. His business listing shows open until 5pm, and indeed the neon open sign was lit up when I got there. I walked in, he acted like he didn't know who I was, I asked for the lens, had the pink receipt slip in hand, and reminded him what it was. With zero expression, remorse, authentic apology or anything of the sort, he simply said it wasn't done and that he didn't get to it. That happened despite his promise to have it done in 3-4 days, and to definitely have it done by the time I was going to pick it up, and certainly before the date and time I did come in to pick it up. His only words of substance were, "well, I didn't charge you." Yeah, and if he had, I wouldn't have paid. I did incur cost though: uber transport charges, time value of money loss, reasonable expectation of adequate performance, and loss of use and enjoyment during the time the lens was in his possession and not mine. To me, integrity means doing what you say you're going to do by when you say you're going to do it; it means being your word. This guy, and this business, demonstrated having no integrity. They did not do anything. There was no fulfillment, no promise kept, no performance of any kind, least of all any sort of reasonable action, not even a courtesy call to say they couldn't get to it in time, or to repromise a by when - a new date by when fulfillment could occur. There was no offer to fulfill or complete performance. There was zero caring, zero interest, and no concern for the impact that had on me, my business or my activity. This person, and this business, cannot be relied upon. As an award-winning professional photographer, a well connected professional photographer, and a member of the media and community in Alaska and several other states, I can't imagine any circumstance where I would knowingly or willingly choose to do business with this person or this business ever again. Moreover, I'm adding them to the commercial BANNED list for my media company. There will be no circumstance whatsoever, least of all any sort of emergent or time sensitive one, that will ever cause me or us to risk doing business with this unreliable operation ever again.

They were simple, clean, and beautiful with minimal editing (kind of a "photojournalist" style). The space is in a tricky, oddball location (the "yellow submarine" building downtown, you know the one!) but the interior is bright, minimalist, and pleasing on the eyes. The refreshments on hand were also pretty great. Would love to come here for a photo show again...would love to have some of my own work on these walls...someday.

I know Out North used to be in another place that is now Cyrano's, but this spot seems fitting. The main floor is a large open room with photographs, of what I'm assuming are this month's art show, and the performance took place in 3 rooms upstairs from here. Overall, it was a good show and a good time. I would like to come here again, and maybe even see the other businesses this sidewalk mall houses. It's old and has other oddball merchants, like an Ombudsman, that seem as interesting as this venue. Would check out again.

They are super helpful and the best part is their quality of customer service. Ben, my account manager, comes by my office once a month to chat in person, drop off his "pen of the month" and let me know what special deals they are running. Last month I ordered the wrong ink cartridges for our office printer. He said no problem, picked them up from the office and is crediting our account. Their prices are cheaper than retail prices at Office Max or Office Depot, which is always good! They have free delivery no matter how much or how little you order. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because they don't always have what I need in stock and I have to wait for it to be delivered. I ran out of said ink toner and the kind that I do need Arctic Office doesn't carry so it was going to be 7 - 10 days delivery forcing me to run to Office Max to get the ink that I need until then.

I visit every time I go to the mall but Christ it's horrifying looking at those prices, for example I was cowering the Wii section and I came across 2 copies of Mario kart going for 60!! The cases were even discolored and it's super easy to find the games going for 25 in a better condition on eBay. Additionally I came in there last year and was shocked by the trade in credit they offered me, I had been amassing about 300 dollars worth of games I picked up for a couple bucks at various garage sales and thrift stores and they only offered me 50 bucks for everything. Literally just one of the games I offered them was worth that amount. Just looking at their consoles is crazy to me too, 125 bucks for a n64 is absurd which from my knowledge has been in their case for months. I got mine a couple years ago for about 50 with games and some original boxes. Lastly I think they are really shooting themselves in the foot here by not expanding with more modern titles, most people in the scene have no interest in anything older than the ps4 and Xbox one, yet those sections are some of the smallest in the store. I personally collect every generation and console, w about 20 consoles and ~600-700 ish games but I am obviously not the norm. With the closing of the GameStop right below them they have a massive opportunity to take over in the modern games department.
