Man, not sure what the deal is with all the harsh reviews? My experiences here have been nothing but positive. Granted, I mainly use this place to try out and rent lenses. As far as I know, this is the only lens rental shop in Anchorage. And they have GOOD stuff too. The uber-wide Canon 11-24 f/4? They got it. The Canon 100-400 IS II, got that too. They even have the outstanding Sigma art lenses for sale. (don't sweat Nikon folks, they got you covered too) The staff here has always been very helpful and knowledgeable in the dark arts of digital photography. They may be a bit on the pricey side, but they are downtown...on 4th street...really, what do you expect?

One star is generous. There simply isn't a no star option or else this place and its owner-operator…read morewould get it. My experience was absurd. I flew up from 3 states away and brought my lens in for cleaning and any repairs that might be discovered during the standard cleaning process. I was assured this could be done in 3-4 days based on the backlog. I brought my lens in on November 3, 2025 at 11:15am akdt. I told the guy I'd be back to pick it up on November 15 or 16. He said that would be no problem and more than enough time. I went to pick it up on November 17 at 4:20pm. I went in because my flight out is tomorrow at 1:50pm. I called at 12:56pm, but he didn't answer or return my call. His business listing shows open until 5pm, and indeed the neon open sign was lit up when I got there. I walked in, he acted like he didn't know who I was, I asked for the lens, had the pink receipt slip in hand, and reminded him what it was. With zero expression, remorse, authentic apology or anything of the sort, he simply said it wasn't done and that he didn't get to it. That happened despite his promise to have it done in 3-4 days, and to definitely have it done by the time I was going to pick it up, and certainly before the date and time I did come in to pick it up. His only words of substance were, "well, I didn't charge you." Yeah, and if he had, I wouldn't have paid. I did incur cost though: uber transport charges, time value of money loss, reasonable expectation of adequate performance, and loss of use and enjoyment during the time the lens was in his possession and not mine. To me, integrity means doing what you say you're going to do by when you say you're going to do it; it means being your word. This guy, and this business, demonstrated having no integrity. They did not do anything. There was no fulfillment, no promise kept, no performance of any kind, least of all any sort of reasonable action, not even a courtesy call to say they couldn't get to it in time, or to repromise a by when - a new date by when fulfillment could occur. There was no offer to fulfill or complete performance. There was zero caring, zero interest, and no concern for the impact that had on me, my business or my activity. This person, and this business, cannot be relied upon. As an award-winning professional photographer, a well connected professional photographer, and a member of the media and community in Alaska and several other states, I can't imagine any circumstance where I would knowingly or willingly choose to do business with this person or this business ever again. Moreover, I'm adding them to the commercial BANNED list for my media company. There will be no circumstance whatsoever, least of all any sort of emergent or time sensitive one, that will ever cause me or us to risk doing business with this unreliable operation ever again.
