I have spent thousands of dollars at Madness, but not anymore. I was there last weekend playing D&D and asked on of the employees if I could put a couple of the tables together and he said sure. So we put together the tables to spread out a bit. A manager came by and started berating me for putting the together the tables, he didn't care that I had permission and started bitching me out about fire codes and crap. All you had to do was say, sorry for the confusion with regards to the other employee and that would of been fine; I was happy to put the tables back. But instead you raised your voice at me, berated me, and treated me like a child. I am your customer, you don't have to be a complete jerk. Is it that hard to be polite? My inner nerd/geek/childhood sailor moon fanatic absolutely gets unleashed once I step into Madness. :x My friends brought my bf and me here because tabletop games + comics + omg look at all the pretty dice + did we just get into miniature painting like a true nerd? Also, the staff members are always down to help you find your next fun game. (Ours is Gloomhaven. Rip my social life for the next two years haha.) Definitely come check them out if you're interested at all in checking out board games - their collection is expannnsive - or if you want to bring some friends and do a board game day on Saturdays (open til close, they have tables set up for you to sit down and get going). They also carry stuff if you're into mini painting, plushies for your inner child to hug, etc. Soooo... yes. 5* for the service, variety, and nostalgia. :) Will be back! Madness has always been a place where I've met up with people across the metroplex to trade/buy used games... and ALWAYS have taken the opportunity to make a new game purchase while here (to go with my 300+ game collection). This is the first time I've been rudely told to never do that again by someone that works there. So, this will be the last time I visit this store. There are way too many other options that are far more friendly to true game collectors like myself! They took the "F" out of Friendly Local Gaming Store... no wonder so many choose Amazon! read more

First time visit. The location is huge and setup very nicely. There is s tournament or board play area to the right of the store. Had about 20 people playing. I walked around the store and looked at everything they had to offer. From comic books, to board games and game pieces. They have life size Comic Heroes cutouts and movie posters and props for sale on the walls. I will have to make a return visit with my grandkids for a more detailed visit. It is worth the time to stop by and see them. No business pic, a delivery truck blocked my view :/ read more

Great store! Tables at the back are open daily for you to take games you own must bought) and play with friends or strangers. Staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and great with the kids. I am not a gamer at all, but the kids are and go here several times per month. Their every day prices are perhaps slightly more expensive than a website. But, you're supporting a great local business and hangout location for kids that love games. Huge selection of the en vogue stuff and the obscure stuff. Overpriced brand new comics. If you are interested in a comic that is getting buzz online go to DCBS not Madness. DCBS allows me to not only preorder the comic but get it for a fraction of retail price. This comic shop and many others will see a hot new comic and check eBay to see what people are selling it for and adjust the price accordingly. Time and time again I go back because I want to support the local guys. But the local guys don't make it easy. For instance, Nightwing 81 a 4.00 comic came out today but Madness is selling it for double the price. It's no wonder why local comic shops are failing. read more

This place is amazing. I've been to the store three times over the years to purchase gifts and i have been absolutely amazed each time. This place has everything you could imagine. Comics, games, cards, dice, toys, clothing, accessories, figures, figurines, and pop culture gifts. The selection is fantastic. The shop is organized well which makes navigating the shop easy. In addition to the wide variety of inventory, there is an entire "gaming center" in the store with many tables set up for play. The shop hosts many events, the staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable, and there is plenty of parking available. I have absolutely no idea what most of the stuff they carry is, or how to play the elaborate games that the customers play here, but walking in, looking around, and watching the customers play the elaborate games makes me want to learn. read more

It's scalper pricing on product that's easily available. Pure greed and absolute shame as it could be a reliable store for the community. I'm new to the Magic The Gathering community. Started back in August of 2019, and I've been slowly moving from 60-card decks to Commander. When I first started buying cards, I would open packs and gamble on what I was getting. The game store I had been going to didn't have many singles on display, and they almost never had exactly what I wanted once I started to do research. Online retailers have what I want most of the time, but I really like supporting local businesses if I can. When I first went to Madness, I knew I had found the right place for buying singles. They have almost every card imaginable and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Some of them can be a little testy at times and won't immediately help you, but they have plenty of space to play and the guys behind the Magic counter definitely know their stuff. They've helped me out and given me tips on multiple occasions. My most recent experience with Madness went very well. I had pre-ordered a booster box and a prerelease kit from them for Ikoria: Lair if Behemoths and the process to pick it up was buttery smooth. I showed up, gave them my name, they brought it out and I was out the door. They even asked me how I wanted things packaged (one of the single cards wasn't in any sort of packaging other than a soft sleeve) and didn't just throw it all in a bag and hand it to me. The amount of books and games within this store is beyond amazing. They have just about everything you can think of all the way down to the unique games you never knew you wanted until now. They have your basic DC and Marvel and Star Wars, but so much more. I come to this place often to pick up gifts for friends who embrace their inner nerds because it's so hard to find half the stuff you'll find in Madness. The staff is also super friendly and helpful . They also have game board playing area which is huge. I haven't gone to any of those playing yet but it was good to see so many people gathering to enjoy great times together. This place is pretty amazing! If you are into comics or gaming, this is the place to be! This place is split into four big parts, each section big enough to be it's own store. When you first walk in, to the left is the section with comics and graph novels. I personally have not explored this section extensively, but from what I have seen it has comics and graphic novels from just about every publisher. Whatever you are looking for, I'm sure you can find it here. The middle section is dedicated to tabletop and board games. It has every game I've ever heard of and then 3 times more than that. Whenever I need to find a game, I have no doubt that I can find it here and. The back has an extensive area of rule books and resources for Table Top RPGs. This area has just about everything from the last 10 years with entire rows dedicated to Pathfinder, D&D, and Star Wars. To the right is probably the best part of the whole place - a giant section where you can come in and play games! Every single time I have come, no matter the day of the week or time of day, there are always people here playing games. There are also several times during the week that are dedicated to tournaments and meetups, but you really don't need a reason to come and find some new friends to play with. They carry Comics, Hobby games, Card Games, Collectibles and a ton of board games. The only draw back is you will be paying retail on everything, but it seems that way every where in the metroplex. They have a large area where you can bring your games/cards and play. They also have special themed nights, quite a few people seem to go to them, but I haven't been yet. MGC is what (a board gamer's) dreams are made of!! I can't speak for the comics since I usually come for the board games, but their game selection is so intense!!! You have the classics like Monopoly and Clue, but you also have the newer games like Settlers of Catan (all the different expansions too!), Betrayal at House on the Hill, Tsuro, etc. After you purchase the game you've been eyeing, you can then mosey on over to the IMMENSE table space in MGC that is open for free game play. Mind you, the staff had told me in my most recent visit that you can even bring your own personal games to play (and food if you're responsible and clean up after yourself!). Certain nights are devoted to Magic the Gathering or Dungeons and Dragons (check their events calendar!), but if there's free table space, you're still welcome to play your own games. The late midnight closing on Fridays and Saturdays make this an ideal game night locale as well. On a final note, don't be intimidated if you see people playing crazy games that involve 3D fortresses and little armies. Madness is so down-to-earth, and it's really about bringing together a community through games and comics. If you're into board games, I can't recommend MGC highly enough. read more

Absolutely one of the best comic and game shops in DFW. It's a huge store and has so much that you can most definitely find anything you need. My friends and I play DnD and so when it came time for Christmas gifts, I knew where to go. Their dice selection is crazy, and they also have other things like books and spell/skill cards readily available. The staff is also on point and unlike a lot of retail places, they staff appropriately! You can always find someone to help you find what you need, and that's great. If you're not sure what to buy your friend, they also do gift certificates which an employee hand fills out and signs for you. It's great! read more

Unlike Sparta, you will be hard-pressed to find muscular, partially clothed men around, however you will still find many (stereotypical 'geeky') guys hangin' around every night. I fit right in! Now, they are a store, that happens to sell games & comics. In that aspect, they are impressive, with a huge selection of Western comics & games/miniatures/cards as well as a vast selection of Magic The Gathering Cards for individual sale. However, that still isn't their main attraction. 'Tis all about gaming! Half of this (massive) store is set up with tables for various games, whether it is Trading Card Games (Magic The Gathering), Roleplaying Games (Dungeons & Dragons), miniature games (Warhammer, X-wing) or board games. They host 'Friday Night Magic' here for those involved. There are board games on Saturdays from 4-late. X-wing is played Tuesdays & Saturdays. Warhammer & RPGs seem to be played daily. I am certain other games are played other days of the week, I just haven't been made aware of them yet, but this place really is hoppin' nightly. read more

This is the largest comic / game shop I have ever seen or dreamed could exist. OMG! It is like the size of a football field (maybe hyperbole---maybe). There were dozens and dozens of tables, each with 5 or so gamers playing tabletop games. This was a Saturday around 2pm, so I was amazed. The comic selection was vast, and the game selection was immense! It had a whole aisle for Smallworld, sequels of it, and expansions of Smallworld. Similar aisle for all the Zombicides. It had similar aisles for other games and all their expansions. Soooo ... big.....! One gripe though. They had a sign of "buy two get one free" on games and shirts, and they also had 15% off today! Once at the checkout counter, the girl states that you cant use both. I understand, but none of the signage state that, so I took that into consideration when putting together my order and amount I was spending. Might wanna fix the signs. read more

Madness is the go to store for keeping up-to-date on comics and games. If you're looking for old stuff, or unusual stuff, you might be out of luck but you could get lucky. Madness has such a large stock, that even if you came looking for one thing, you'll leave with bags full of merch. If you're a fan of tabletop games, Madness has your back. Board games, miniatures, and pen and paper games each have their own dedicated sections. Card games have several! And each week, they hold tournaments and play sessions for just about everything under the sun. Want to play Friday Night Magic? Done. How about a quick game of D&D? Roll up a character. Try the latest board games? They got you covered. Right now, the store is still filling in some gaps in their shelves. They are getting more product every time I go in there. Having never been to Madness, I had zero expectations but was pleasantly surprised. They have a huge selection of everything you'd need for tabletop gaming among other cool things, and if you don't have control over yourself, you'll definitely end up spending a butt ton here! I can't comment on the service because 1) I was meeting up with some people to play some boardgames we brought in and, 2) I was just browsing the aisles the kill time until they arrived, but the people who run this place seem okay. It's true: no one will greet you, but take it as it is. The right side of the store is filled with tables, devoted to tournaments and casual gameplay. It can get pretty crowded and finding a non-reserved table isn't easy, but once you do, it's a good time. No one seemed to monitor that section, it's kind of a free for all so be prepared for that. I will say that given the amount of people huddled to one side of the store, they need to lower the temperature. There were guys drenched in sweat. Not only does it get man-funky but it also creates a gross atmosphere. I swear a flea bit me at one of the tables, like that's how icky it was, but I digress. I used to love this place. The employees are super helpful and knowledgeable. I just got back into magic so been rebuying all my staple cards. Spent almost $3000 to start my rebuild. Even though I have to drive 45 min across the metroplex I still made this my top card buying place. Was looking for a Force of Will. Was told the owner decided not to allow the employees to give out card availability. Not driving 45 min to find out they don't have something in stock. Guess I will just order online. Can't really comment on the staff because nobody asked us if we needed help or hello for that matter. But as for what they sell this place has it all. Holy. Cow! This place is awesome. There are items for both young and old. The comic selection is amazing. The use of space is just perfect. And if you're into games, puzzles or dice/dominos this is the place for you. I am a National Parks fanatic and this place had multiple games catered to just this genre! If you like cosplay, while this is not a costume shop, you will find a few fun items and tons of inspiration. Lastly, if you like me are a fan of models this will be your wet dream come true! I love the cool section and detailed finalized models present. Needless to say we will be back. Great selection of comics collectibles and other items. Fun place to walk around and just browse. Only downside is a good number of the staff aren't very friendly for whatever reason. I've been in on a number of occasions and most of them seem to be annoyed by any questions or if you need any assistance. Not sure what's up with that. Would give them five stars if they can get their employee morale up. The staff act like they just want the store to run without any customers interrupting their day. Spent lots of money here on pop caps and other things but going forward I think I'll just order online. I've seen Quite a few other complaints about similar treatment so I know it's not just me. I just don't understand why it's so wide spread with most of the employees acting that way. read more

Madness Games and Comics in Plano is amazing local business to support! I asked the owner to pick out a couple hundred dollars worth of the hottest comics from ages 7 to 17. I explained to her that I was giving them to needy families for the holidays and a lot of people forget about the older kids in the system. Needless to say, she not only helped me but exceeded my expectations! She picked out the best, in sequence, comics to donate for the children this Christmas, and really took her time. There's going to be a lot of happy little kids when these are delivered by the local police officers dressed as Santa. Amazing place and I highly recommend them! read more
