This place is a haven for war gaming. 40k, Fantasy, Historical, you name it there is probably someone up at this shop who plays it. The guys working there are super chill, and the tables are big with tons of different terrain that is open to anyone to use. I've been very pleased to discover this store, practically a mecca for miniatures gaming. The owner and staff are pleasant and helpful, they run a very clean store - stocking not just Battlefront (Flames of War, Team Yankee), Fantasy Flight (Star Wars X-Wing and Armada), Warlord's Bolt Action and Games Workshop (in its myriad pemutations) but a dozen other brands and lines ranging from Ancients to PT Boats to Earth vs. Martians ! They dedicate more than half their floor space to gaming tables and freely share hundreds of pieces of terrain ready to set the stage for practically any sort of game. There's plenty of parking and it seems handicap accessible although some aisles might seem tight with stock. read more

If you have an interest in miniature wargaming this is the shop to become a regular at in north Dallas. Since they are more specialized than other shops they offer a wider range of games and better hobby supplies in store versus stores that cast a wider net. Texas Toy Soldier offers plenty of Tables to play games, offers no shortage of terrain at different scales, has friendly employees, and a good community to game with. It's a really special spot worthy of becoming your missing third place if you are at all interested in what they have to offer. I couldn't recommend it more. read more

I stopped by Texas Toy Soldier after deciding to try my hand at model painting and diorama building. I was immediately greeted and assisted when I entered the business. After a quick description of my interests I was pointed to all of the relevant sections. When I returned to the main counter with my purchases, I was presented with two free miniatures to take home and mess around with! I was given loads of great advice that got me going the same day, as well as an invitation to their weekly painting workshops. When I entered the store I had no interest in the actual gaming side of the hobby, but the help, advice and enthusiasm I received have made me want to dip my toes. Overall, 10/10 would recommend this establishment for the service alone! read more

I have yet to find a mini hobby store with the selection of paints and basing supplies that this store carries. The prices tend to be less than retail, too. Great shop. A dozen gaming tables. Has terrain for 15mm and 28mm. Discounts off all retail priced products for Games Workshop, Flames of War, Bolt Action, Star Wars Armada, and paint lines. Alan is a great guy (the owner) and often host tournaments and campaigns to encourage gaming. This is what is great about this place, unlike a GW where you walk into play and they harass you every time about buying something. Nice little hobby store with a good selection of tabletop war games (mostly GW) and paints. Large gaming area with plenty of terrain. Food and drinks are nearby and the shop doesn't seem to have a problem with folks bringing in food as long as you aren't a slob. Picked up some Star War Legion there during their after Thanksgiving sale. No SW Legion night but they dedicated nights for SW X-Wing, Warmachine and GW games (see their website) and are open to 11pm on week nights. read more

I stopped in for one evening while I was in the area and loved this location. This is a store focused on tabletop miniatures wargaming, so you won't find a large selection of boxed family night games like the Catan or Arkham Horror sets. What you will find is Warhammer, Malifaux, Warmachine/Hordes, Flames of War, Star Wars X-Wing/Armada, and possibly even some Perry Historics, along with a selection of Reaper figures and other things. I have been to many game stores but this one is by far my favorite. The building is clean and bright with available snacks and drinks and a clean restroom. The owner is a great, friendly guy who loves what he is doing. The game tables are amazing, they have a lot of table space and some of the best store terrain I have seen. The best part, and perhaps most important, is the people. Game store crowds can often be a bit.. exclusive, or intimidating to new faces. I found no such thing here. I had a few games with people and thought they were all really fun, casual and friendly gamers. I never felt like an outsider. This would be a really great location to bring a friend or wife/husband who is new to this type of gaming, because I think they will have an overwhelmingly positive experience. I wish I lived closer. That being said, good luck to the folks there and I promise not to pass through Dallas again without stopping in! read more

sadly i was disappointed with the selection of Fow minis, i was alos disappointed with the customer service of the employee i dealt with. first off the selection of Fow is spread out by nationality to make it look like they have more which spreading out is fine but not when you see how it is merchandised. they had no box sets of resin metal ( my preference) and when asked the store employee said "people ike the plastics" this made me feel like the employee didnt consider me a person, and whenever i asked a question the employee didnt seem like he wanted to answer it or even deal with me. so what i have to say is if you have an army already and are just wanting to use their gaming tables you are good except for you may have issues with the unfriendly employee. if you are going in the store to buy stuff you dont need just spend money again you are fine ( might also solve the problem with the unfriendly employee) however, if you are going in to buy somethign you need i suggest going elsewhere ( I.E. order online). sadly i cannot recommend this place based on my first impression and experience. read more
