We've been taking our animals to Dr. Rhen at Madras Animal Hospital for many many years, starting with our two Himalayan cats who were well cared for during their lives. Since the passing of those two beauties at the ages of 13 and 14, we've since acquired a rescue pit/lab mix at appx 2 months old who is, today, 8 yrs of age. Dr. Rhen is quite capable of caring for all animals with compassion and thoughtfulness. I'll never forget the day he took one of my cats home with him to watch for seizures during the night. I was so overwhelmed by his generosity to help us find what's wrong with our cat.... and will never forget it. Our dog, Pup, is now the love of our lives and we trust Dr. Rhen to give her excellent care. She hates people and others dogs due to being abused + attacked before I found her laying under a deck, and she will bite if you get too close. However, she seems to sense Dr. Rhen as safe and will allow him to do what he needs to do while in their office. I give Madras Animal Hospital 5 stars because I know them well and know Dr. Rhen's gentle hand.

I come here quite often. I bring my dogs and cats here. The staff and Dr. Seem to be real animal loving people. They are kind, gentle, thoughtful of my little family members. But they seem to be more "animal people" Then "people people" My pets don't panic in their care, which is really relieving. So my cat was attacked by a stray dog. The price for a "physical exam" was $56.50. Which consist of watching how he walked and feelings his spine and injured leg. Then he got a shot for pain and inflammation which was $47.00. Said it would last 40 days??? Unfortunately that's all I could afford. Next would have been x-rays which would have cost $140.00 Costs would have went from there. This is the only place I go to so I don't know if these are high or low prices. This is the closest vet to my house so I will be back.

We looked at the reviews and figured we would try it. We walked in the door and were greeted by a vet tech who had a baby Bjorn on with a tiny puppy in it. When we asked about it, she told us the puppy was a rescue who was brought in with an abandoned litter and the office staff and vets agreed to help get the puppies nursed back to help until they could go to a foster home. The little guy was was very, very small and was so scared, he having a hard time adjusting. So, put him in the sling all day with her becuase she wanted him to feel safe and warm and loved. Our hearts melted! When we go into our pre-cleaning appointment, the vet who saw us and instantly plopped on the floor with our big dog and started to pet him and talk to him and love on him. She and the vet tech spent a good 10 minutes being sweet to him before they even started the exam. Our dog was instantly at ease and we knew we were in a good place. During his cleaning, we asked them to take bump off of his side that was not cancerous but was getting slightly bigger and worried us. The total bill for the cleaning, labs on the bump tissue, and the surgery was $440. The Highland team said our 6 year old dog had great teeth and just had a cleaning 2 years earlier and no cavities or need for extractions. Our old vet in Bend was going to charge us upwards of $1200 for the cleaning and the surgery. This office is not fancy. They don't have a palatial waiting room or exam rooms. They also don't try to sell you on a bunch of expensive products or procedures. Their annual shots are really affordable too. They just really love animals, won't recommend something unnecessary, and seem to really care about making our special pup feel good and stay healthy. I highly recommend this vet!

Every clinic in CO helped me except this one which is why I am certain that this probably were all stolen animals will brought since they are protected by this clinic. They refused to take the chip number and my license to prove ownership. Outrageously inappropriate.
