My grandson has autism. He has always loved reptiles. He received a pet bearded dragon at an early age, about the size of a thumb. He excelled beyond his agreement as the caretaker for years. He named it "Lucy", even though it was a male. They grew up together. A couple years ago, he developed a cancerous tumor. After much research, we found Highland Veterinary Clinic. The Doctors and staff proved to be professional, knowledgeable, experienced, empathetic and very reasonably priced. The Doctor, diagnosed and treated the tumor with the utmost care. Later, the tumor grew back and Lucy began to loose weight, his eyesight, muscle mass and needed to be hand fed. Thankfully the Doctor spent time with my grandson helping him to understand the lifecycle of a reptile. After watching Lucy in his old age, my grandson came to the decision that his lifecycle was at an end. Today, Lucy was taken to the hospital and the kind, caring and sensitive staff allowed my grandson to take all the time he needed to Say goodbye to his best friend. We want everyone to know how much we appreciate the high level of integrity Highland Veterinary Hospital Has. We've lived here about eight years, there is nowhere else we will ever take our animals. Dr Poet has a remarkable amount of compassion and speaks in plain terms. We easily got another two good years with our little Doxy. Easily the same with our elderly Tabby cat. When it was time, she was wonderful and compassionate. We're nearing the end with our older tuxedo cat. They understand the tough choices people have to make as pet parents. When we brought our new kitten home, she told us what to do to keep everyone safe (other felines). She and her staff are unquestionably the best veterinary staff we've ever used. read more

This veterinarian clinic is actively helping people that steal pets. I have a dog that was stolen and taken here and they have refused to give me any information about my dog or who brought here. I am absolutely disgusted with how I was treated. Every clinic in CO helped me except this one which is why I am certain that this probably were all stolen animals will brought since they are protected by this clinic. They refused to take the chip number and my license to prove ownership. Outrageously inappropriate. read more

The first time we went here was because a Shopper coupon for a teeth cleaning was $150 for the month including a preliminary appointment. We looked at the reviews and figured we would try it. We walked in the door and were greeted by a vet tech who had a baby Bjorn on with a tiny puppy in it. When we asked about it, she told us the puppy was a rescue who was brought in with an abandoned litter and the office staff and vets agreed to help get the puppies nursed back to help until they could go to a foster home. The little guy was was very, very small and was so scared, he having a hard time adjusting. So, put him in the sling all day with her becuase she wanted him to feel safe and warm and loved. Our hearts melted! When we go into our pre-cleaning appointment, the vet who saw us and instantly plopped on the floor with our big dog and started to pet him and talk to him and love on him. She and the vet tech spent a good 10 minutes being sweet to him before they even started the exam. Our dog was instantly at ease and we knew we were in a good place. During his cleaning, we asked them to take bump off of his side that was not cancerous but was getting slightly bigger and worried us. The total bill for the cleaning, labs on the bump tissue, and the surgery was $440. The Highland team said our 6 year old dog had great teeth and just had a cleaning 2 years earlier and no cavities or need for extractions. Our old vet in Bend was going to charge us upwards of $1200 for the cleaning and the surgery. This office is not fancy. They don't have a palatial waiting room or exam rooms. They also don't try to sell you on a bunch of expensive products or procedures. Their annual shots are really affordable too. They just really love animals, won't recommend something unnecessary, and seem to really care about making our special pup feel good and stay healthy. I highly recommend this vet! read more

I feel I must right a review of this veterinary clinic because of what I see as fraudulent practices. I was a client of theirs for about 5 years I believe. I never had any serious issues with them until this year; 2020. My dog had minor foot allergies that I was able to keep controlled through some spray from them. In April I took my dog in for what I thought might be a serious issue when I awoke one morning. They ran every test imaginable which cost me about 550 dollars; that was fine. Four hours after returning home, you would had never known there was a problem with my dog; still, that's fine I was concerned. The problem was when I returned for the chronic foot problem in Nov. They refused to deal with the foot problem until they ran more test's for the previous issue that I had not called for. I have to say it felt like extortion. So, in the end I refused to be charged for services that I did not request and advised I would get a different vet if they were unwilling to help with the chronic issue for which they had seen him many times prior. I recommend you don't go there. It's not about your dogs care, it's about the money they can siphon from you. read more

I was surprised to see so many good reviews for this clinic since my experience was definitely bad. Then I discovered the "reviews not recommended". I'm sure that's where mine will end up too. I took my dog in for the advertised $150 teeth cleaning which included a preliminary exam to determine if there were any problems. I was assured everything looked good. When I picked my dog up they had pulled 7 of her teeth and I was presented with a bill for $600. So what do you do at that point ? I feel I should have at least received a call authorizing that action. So I now warn my friends about this deceptive, unethical practice and needless to say I will never go near the place again . read more

It was time for our dogs yearly, but I brought him in specifically because I knew some was wrong with him. After the exam and blood work and xrays $450 later we got nothing. I asked her if she checked his thyroid. I was told yes. I ended up taking him back for a urine test, again was charged way too much. A month goes by and I still know something is wrong with our dog. I called after googling some symptoms. Thyroid popped up and so did cushings disease. Since she said she did check his thyroid, I asked about cushings. Was told the doc or tech would get back to me. Nope, a week later I called back. I was told the cushings test was $360. But they could do a liver test first. I decided to go to Mt. View vet for a second opinion. So glad I did. Turns out after getting our records, this vet only tested for one of the thyroid test needed. There are 2 tests to check. Had she done what we asked, he would already be on meds and not feeling so crappy. Don't waste your money here, go to Mt. View, it's just down the block and they care & listen!! read more

I brought my 4 year old boxer mix to them..have been here in the past too with no issues, NOT the case this time! $500+ in costs for my baby girl to be in worse shape then when I came in on 11/22/19.. to date haven't been able to connect with Dr. Diagnoses is hypothyroid. When I called again today..i was hung up on. By receptionist cindy and told I was harassing her?! Emotions are high since my fur baby isn't doing well as to be expected.. I'm taking her to another vet this coming Tuesday for a second opinion when I came in this evening to get her records I thought cindy was going to harm me physically! She was loud and came from behind her desk and called me a B@#$# as well as other slanderous remarks. I really thought she was going to physically throw me out the door! I've never felt unsafe at any clinic and her treatment of me is concerning at the least! I would not recommend this vet clinic if your looking for caring kind people! I will be following up with the BBB.. I'm beyond shocked at the unprofessional nature and to STILL not have a healthy fur baby is unacceptable! Follow up apt is part of initial apt and was charged for a stool sample that never happened and no offer to refund!***** update.. as I sat in the parking lot righting this review they called Redmond police dept?!?! Officer Buckley was to inform me in was trespassed from the property?!?! um like I was bringing back my dog?! And I was the one in fear from the vulgar aggressive receptionist cindy!! Wow just wow at the lack of professionalism and no kind caring nature in that beast of a woman! Reflects poorly on the business as it may not be all bad.. but in my case it really is disturbing and wouldnt bring my goldfish for them to treat!! read more

Highland Vet is highly recommended. The practice has provided care for 3 of our 4 elderly animals, including a very involved teeth removal/jaw surgery on my little 9 pound dachshund. Dr. Cook has a great energy; very calm for the animals (and the owners), with a methodical, info-gathering approach. We appreciate having such an easy-to-work-with vet and staff in our new hometown. Five stars is not enough. I'd give 20 if I could!! Ive been taking my twelve year old lab here basically his whole life as well as two cats. If you knew me, you'd know that my dog is the most important part of my life. I can replace anything else.i literally trust his life and health to highland vets. Dr. Racheal specifically has been who I have dealt with ( although the entire staff are terrific) and she is nothing short of a amazing. She always gives us plenty of time and never makes us feel rushed. Dr. Racheal gives advise as if it were for her own pet and never let me spend unnecessary money. Even when I had to put my 18 year old cat down, she made the experience as painless as could ever be expected for the cat and myself. Very gentle and compassionate. My cat was slow down on eating. I took my cat to Highland Veterinary hospital. Dr Poet was even able to made proper X ray and physical exam for $279.25. She does not provide the diagnosis except telling me that there is fluid in the cat stomach. She does not recommend the treatment. When I and my children call her she never pick up the phone neither return the call. My cat suddenly was better but then worse and passed away on Thanksgiving day. read more

A total rip off. I was quoted $92 for two cats to get an exam both 2 years old, update on shots and boarding for 5 nights at $29.00 per night. When I showed up to pick up my cats I was told that the shots totaled over $250 and that the overnight stay was instead $19.40 PER CAT PER NIGHT... for a total bill of $536.00 and when I asked WTF?? I was told by the office manager "Yeh, those shots can get expensive". This place is friggin rip-off. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE unless you like getting screwed over. read more

This is the most unethical vet clinic I have ever utilized. I took my standard poodle in for teeth cleaning and got my dog back missing 15 teeth. I had specifically requested an assessment prior to procedure so I would know cost. My dog was not expressing any problems when I took her in and I was not notified of any need to extract any teeth nor gave permission to remove any teeth. Though I had been contacted by the clinic twice for permission to do additional lab & blood workup and was told the total cost would be a little less than $400, when I picked up my dog I was presented with a $943 invoice. When I confronted Dr. Cook about situation she said I had signed form that gave her permission to do whatever she thought was medically necessary regardless of whether I could afford it or not. I requested copies of records and discovered that she had not even taken any x-rays to determine which teeth needed to be extracted. When I picked up records another client came in to pick up their do to be surprised that her dog had to have 9 teeth extracted. The owner told me that her dog wasn't having any problems as well so I am convinced that this clinic is not practicing ethical medical treatment and am filing a complaint with Oregon Veterinary Board. read more
