If you are looking for a way to birth your way, have midwives that are all actual nurses but are the jack of all trades and still have all the security of a hospital and emergency care this is the perfect combination. From the moment I called, the whole team took my situation seriously and got me in quick for induction. They were so loving and kind! Dr. Blake was incredible. He was patient and efficient and allowed me to push for 2+ hours to deliver a higher risk baby that very well couldve had to be a c-section baby at any other hospital but thanks to him and his team and a lot of hard work, he came out safely and beautifully. They truly fought for me and my baby and treated us like we were top priority from the very first phone call. They did an amazing job at delivering our baby boy and handled everyone of my concerns with so much ease. Dr. Blake and his team truly care about us moms, they are their biggest advocate. I cannot reccomend this place enough. Plus, what hospital let's their patients sleep while the incredible nurses tend and rock baby outside in the hallway? (Just an extra little perk;) ) Also, we werent kept any extra time and didnt have a ton of interruptions from random county services like bigger facilities and the food was awesome, best authntic Mexican breakfast burritos!

My daughter suffers from…read morea kidney disease and has been recovering the last year From a relapse that resulted in a hospitalization and upon moving to Oregon I was told she would be in good hands.. the doctor in question I thought would be a good fit kayla carlson decided to tell me that the medication my daughter is taking had dangerous side effects that could be in long term too harmful this medication she is taking is in fact keeping her possibly alive and well. Now I'm not all for the pharmacology business but most medications or treatments like chemotherapy can save lives but can have serious side effects but none the less gives chances for survival. She suggested I take my daughter that is only 7 that she shouldn't be on the medication.. none the less risking the well being of my daughter. She was in fact wrong because she needs the steroids for her kidneys to properly function and after hearing from a specialist they quickly told her not to reduce the medication.. and that what the dose she has been taking has shown a significant help to her overall health. Over the last 6 months my daughter was taking the medication and our family endured a hardship that requires us to move twice and almost ending up completely homeless my daughter remained on insurance the whole time and was taking the medication as directed. Upon finally getting settled in and disputing her insurance issues we resumed care with her even though my daughter has been reassuringly taken her medications and urgently trying to find a doctor that could take her with her condition I did so as fast as I could to continue to get her help and care when I disclosed that with Kayla Carlson so told me I medically neglected my daughter and called the child abuse hotline on my family as if the constant battles with economic issues and other things were not enough to deal with as well the constant worries of being a mother fighting tears and doctors and insurance to figure out what is wrong with my daughter and than going through the struggles of getting a 7 year old battling being a kid and getting her to maintain her diet and taking her medications and having to explain to her that she is not like other kids and needs to take as good of care of her health as possible with eating healthy and washing hands and so on.. which most parents should do but in her general case needs to be extra careful a cold could hospitalize her .. the doctor tells me I'm medically neglecting her!!! How dare someone that barely knows me nor my daughter make such a careless remark! And even go as far as calling the child abuse hotline .. I could understand if she wasn't receiving her medication or any care at all.. but how dare that doctor make such an assumption my daughter has never even had so much as a cavity let alone gets neglected at home with her condition! I will be finding another pediatrician to resume care of my daughter. But I repeat do not use her as a doctor.. !! You will get dragged through the mudd for even doing you the best you can as a mother!

Two days latter - no call. I tried to call two times but gave up after twenty minutes. What they were quick at was the bill. I was okay with paying something. I called - after thirty minutes I gave up. I sent an email with a question. No response. In the real world when services aren't performed there is usually a discount. Maybe 10 percent? The money isn't the issue but the utter lack of follow through and responsiveness was appalling.

I came to this UC because pain was getting worse and ear was draining while I was visiting family in the area and I wanted someone to visually see it in case it wasn't bacterial. My first mistake was picking this establishment without reading the reviews. Staff was professional enough but rushed and appeared understaffed. The male medical assistant became oddly snarky after I revealed I work in dermatology, which was quite awkward. The NP I saw later looked at my ear for maybe five seconds and said there was no evidence of a bacterial infection and I should stop the antibiotics. They said the MD I saw virtually was likely wrong about it being bacterial since they didn't see me in-person. After peeking at my nose and noticing it was draining (I have allergies in Central Oregon) they said all my pain must be due to congestion and to do anti-congestive meds OTC. Sounds reasonable enough. I have a lot of faith in medicinal professionals, so I tried their treatment for the next 24-48 hours. Unfortunately I ended up needing to be driven to the ER a couple days later because the pain in my ear went from painful to agony and it was draining even more pus with some blood. Long story short I needed to be admitted for mastoiditis (seen on CT scan) and had to go on multiple antibiotics and steroids. ER naturally did a culture of the external ear canal too, which grew out a heavy growth of pseudomonas aeruginosa (aka bacteria). My eardrum ended up rupturing from the infection which was extremely painful and may have damaged my hearing (although I haven't seen ENT yet to confirm). Overall, I'm very disappointed with the care I received here. I'd like to assume they were doing their best and I know misdiagnoses happen to even the best of providers. But I can't help but feel that if I had seen someone less rushed, more empathetic, and better trained I would have gotten what the original provider I saw thought was an infection confirmed and received earlier treatment. Maybe then I could have avoided an expensive ER visit and weeks of pain. But who knows. The $300 out-of-pocket cost for a 5 minute visit here just rubbed salt in the wound considering their "care" actually caused me a delay in treatment and caused me great amount of pain in the end. I would avoid this establishment if at all possible.

In all honesty, I can not advise anyone to go here. Especially if you're under the age of 50, and/or have State Insurance (which is what I've been told). I've had multiple visits at this facility over the past few years. I've been seen by the previous medical staff (who ultimately left the practice to work elsewhere... if that tells you anything), as well as the new practitioners (I'll leave names out, for embarrassment's sake). However, after several years of visits, and being seen by a multitude of "professionals", I have never received any proper treatment(s) and/or care. They did once set me up with their "in-house" therapist. That was great... for exactly 3-visits. Then the therapist left to start her own private practice, and St. Charles did not have a replacement therapist to offer. My SO actually attended a recent visit with me (with one of the new doctors); she eventually broke down into tears, and asked the doctor "why won't you people help him?! He's suffering everyday", only to get a cold stare in return. My SO said the doctor showed zero empathy, and little-to-no concern, even when I discussed suicide. Additionally, whenever I would present a published NIH study that either countered what the doctor said, or shed light on a possible alternative treatment, I would just be told "well, that's just where we'll have to disagree". I struggle with chronic back and nerve pain (stemming from degenerative disk disease, and an impinged sciatic nerve), along with GAD, MDD, and Panic Disorder. The only "help" this facility has offered (and wow, are they quick to offer it) are SSRI's, SNRI's, and/or Tricyclic Antidepressants. They do not appear to keep up with modern studies. Had they done so, they would know the latest research shows that people with depression don't have different levels of serotonin in their brains compared to people without depression. In other words, this sounds like we should explore other treatment options. Yet, all they offer is a plethora of SSRI's, and say "if this one doesn't work, or if it actually worsens your symptoms, we can try a different one". And remember, each of these meds has a trial-period (up to a month) before you know if it will help you. They're terrible drugs to be on. When it comes to quality of life, and/or pain management, since they're unable and unwilling to help, all you'll get is a referral to see someone else, who 'Lo and behold, won't help you either (however, this "back-and-forth" system of referrals and follow-ups sure does generate a lot of bills...). Additionally, if you are seen here, please make sure you review ALL the after-care notes through My Chart. As a personal example, one of the new doctors obviously judged me, and denied me treatment based off her judgement. They actually LIED (no pun intended) on an after-visit summary. They noted that I was "seeking MDMA". I contacted her through My Chart (so there would be a record), and asked where she came up with that information. Ultimately, she stated she must have "misunderstood" what I said, and then she edited the notes to no longer reflect such a lie. I filed a grievance over the lack of care I received, as well as for being judged and neglected, however, as I've since learned from an attorney, such a document will only fall on deaf ears. I'm sure the very same applies to this review as well.
