Urgent care can be challenging. I had a problem. Checked in and gave a urine sample. The results of that were negative but was told the final result would take two days. I checked out. Two days latter - no call. I tried to call two times but gave up after twenty minutes. What they were quick at was the bill. I was okay with paying something. I called - after thirty minutes I gave up. I sent an email with a question. No response. In the real world when services aren't performed there is usually a discount. Maybe 10 percent? The money isn't the issue but the utter lack of follow through and responsiveness was appalling. read more

I went there for unilateral ear pain and swollen preauricular lymph nodes. We suspected bacterial ear infection and I was on day 4 of prescribed augmenten from an MD I saw through telemedicine. I came to this UC because pain was getting worse and ear was draining while I was visiting family in the area and I wanted someone to visually see it in case it wasn't bacterial. My first mistake was picking this establishment without reading the reviews. Staff was professional enough but rushed and appeared understaffed. The male medical assistant became oddly snarky after I revealed I work in dermatology, which was quite awkward. The NP I saw later looked at my ear for maybe five seconds and said there was no evidence of a bacterial infection and I should stop the antibiotics. They said the MD I saw virtually was likely wrong about it being bacterial since they didn't see me in-person. After peeking at my nose and noticing it was draining (I have allergies in Central Oregon) they said all my pain must be due to congestion and to do anti-congestive meds OTC. Sounds reasonable enough. I have a lot of faith in medicinal professionals, so I tried their treatment for the next 24-48 hours. Unfortunately I ended up needing to be driven to the ER a couple days later because the pain in my ear went from painful to agony and it was draining even more pus with some blood. Long story short I needed to be admitted for mastoiditis (seen on CT scan) and had to go on multiple antibiotics and steroids. ER naturally did a culture of the external ear canal too, which grew out a heavy growth of pseudomonas aeruginosa (aka bacteria). My eardrum ended up rupturing from the infection which was extremely painful and may have damaged my hearing (although I haven't seen ENT yet to confirm). Overall, I'm very disappointed with the care I received here. I'd like to assume they were doing their best and I know misdiagnoses happen to even the best of providers. But I can't help but feel that if I had seen someone less rushed, more empathetic, and better trained I would have gotten what the original provider I saw thought was an infection confirmed and received earlier treatment. Maybe then I could have avoided an expensive ER visit and weeks of pain. But who knows. The $300 out-of-pocket cost for a 5 minute visit here just rubbed salt in the wound considering their "care" actually caused me a delay in treatment and caused me great amount of pain in the end. I would avoid this establishment if at all possible. read more

I had a horrible first appointment with Dr. Alice Tran at Summit Health Eastside in Bend. She and her nurse wasted 40 minutes of my time asking duplicative questions and not being responsive to my requests for care. Dr. Tran was judgmental, dismissive, condescending, and accusatory. She did not listen to me, and instead spent most of my time lecturing me and saying she did not have time to address my requests, and I would need to return for another appt. She has very low emotional intelligence, zero compassion, and is combative. As a healthy, active, and well-educated woman in my early 60s - I left feeling judged, denigrated, and like I was in poor health. My previous docs have always complimented me on my health and encouraged me to continue my healthy lifestyle. Dr. Tran has zero bedside manner. I will never see her again, and I will request a refund from Summit. Beware! read more

I just had cataract surgery with Dr, Kurt Andreason of Summit Health Group in Bend, OR. I was not familiar with what would be involved, but he was excellent in explaining to me all the tests and measurements they would need to prepare for the surgeries - one for each eye. He also explained all the choices I had for new lenses in my eyes and any extra costs I would be required to pay for choices not covered by Medicare. My choice costextra but corrected my nearsightedness to 20/15! Dr. A is a master technician and very precise. The nurses at Bend Surgery Center were likewise very friendly and professional, and made me feel comfortable and safe. - Male age 78 read more

I took my son to Summit urgent care on Sunday 6/8 because we suspected he had a broken rib. The individual that brought us into the room as well as the doctor was very dismissive. The doctor came back after receiving the X-ray said you have two broken ribs. He listen to his heart and felt the ribs. Prescribed painkillers and left the room. He didn't show us the X-ray. The person who came back I after again dismissed me for asking more questions saying that everything we need to know what on the discharge paperwork. I asked if we could see the X-ray. Reluctantly he brought it up on the computer, but didn't explain what we were looking at. My son and I had to interpret it ourselves. This man never even looked me in the eye. My PCP who I like, is at Summit. I will never go back to that Urgent Care ever again. I also will let everyone I know to never go there read more

I give it one star because I have to. Please do not water your time seeing Kathryn Bacher , MD Urology. This woman has no bedside manner and has a heart of Ice. I cannot believe how this Dr. could be a Dr no less a Urologist. My Mother went through cancer and every Dr. nurse we interacted with was kind. (In another state) This Dr didn't even finish walking through the door and the door didn't finish closing before she blurted out, "so you have cancer". Her nurse is even worse... I had to run back in the office to ask a quick question, as I am still bawling my eyes out (not just because of the diagnosis, but from how we were treated . As I waited at the desk while they were out of sight , I can hear them talking personal BS. The nurse came back out and as I'm still crying "did you need something" in a very rude and annoyed tone. I had to pull teeth to get an answer by asking 10 questions instead of her explaining the process on how and when and where I needed to go to take my dad for a urine analysis. It was horrific. This is very much the short version. Please don't get me wrong I was not expecting them to treat us any other way other than with respect. Go Somewhere else. read more

Summit Medical is terrible. They are rude, no caring or concern for you no matter what. Two of my doctors have left Summit. I have been waiting for a new patient appointment since March. My appointment was supposed to be on August 7th. I got a phone call today that said they had to reschedule in November because the doctor was taking a vacation. I couldn't believe that. I asked if the dr. plans ahead for her vacation. The dr. assistant was so rude & said doctors are entitled to vacations. I get that. I guess I'm so mad at Summit because I'm a senior, with a few health issues & have to now wait until November to see a doctor? This appointment was with Dr. Alice Tran. read more

Can't put into words the beauty and professional care my wife received here.......is still receiving. All starts with Dr. Walling and she pushes the cart down the road and everyone else you run into is just as helpful and amazing. I'm stuck at High Lakes (Praxis) and cannot wait to be done with them. When this was a local company (Bend Memorial Clinic) the service was great. Doctors and support staff were personable, friendly and actually seemed to care about their patients. Now that Summit Health has purchased the business it has gone downhill tremendously. So much so that I am changing my Cardiologist and Primary Care Physician. When calling to make an appointment there is always a lengthy hold before getting assistance. When it was BMC, occasionally there was a brief hold. If you have a specialist (ie. a Cardiologist) they usually advise that someone from that department will need to call you. That can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days. If you are not available when they call you, the entire process starts again. The support staff is no longer helpful, often rude and just don't seem to care at all. In addition, Summit Health has just been purchased by another big (not local) company so you can expect more changes coming soon. I will be finding another source for healthcare. read more

My wife and I have received marginal care from Summit Health secondary to their dependence on CORA and very poor quality control. Unfortunately, many healthcare providers rely on CORA for radiograph interpretations by their radiologists. My wife and I received substandard care since the same radiologist, Dr. Schroeder, failed to report an abdominal mass seen on CT scan while she was being treated for cancer to which she sucumbed. He also called my foot x-ray with chronic pain "normal" and a follow-up review by a different radiologist properly diagnosed metatarsal joint erosion. You might want to ask your doctor if they actually saw the imaging themselves. read more

This review is for their Urgent Care. My visit was on 5/10/18 . Their layout was a bit confusing to me at first because it's not only an urgent care. I've only been to urgent cares that were SOLELY urgent cares but this is a full clinic. Someone directed me where to go though (once they saw me looking around very obviously lost lol) but it's not just the first desk you see when you walk in. It wasn't a terribly long wait to check in or have the first "check up" that is basically going over your health history and them getting your stats. After that I had a little over an hour wait to get in for actual tests (but they warned me it would be a wait because they were especially busy at the time). Everything was clean and cozy and they tested everything they could think of to try and figure out what was going on (physical exams, urine samples, drawing blood, xrays). Even if I didn't really get any new answers (because everything came out clean) and am just as confused now as I was before, they did what they could. Everyone was very friendly and I dealt with a lot of people while I was here. I wanna say all together I was here for 6 hours. They made me feel as comfortable as possible the whole time. I wouldn't necessarily hesitate going back but I am hoping the urgent care across the street will be back up and running soon because they are connected to my primary care. We actually drove all this way in hopes that would be open because I live closer to Redmond and if I need to go to Urgent Care again I will find somewhere closer. Also: appreciate their little cafe. I got some hot chocolate (trying to stay away from coffee a little) and a sandwich. Both were good and it's nice to have it right there in front! read more

Yes, their hold times were extremely long. Then, you get an option to get a return ph call in 24 hours if you leave a message. I left a couple of messages over several days but never got a return ph call. However, recently they have actually answered the phone. My primary care doc referred me to them. I had to call multiple times and finally set up an appointment. The day of the appointment I was told the schedular set the appointment with the wrong DR. I filed a grievance. I met with a supervisor who said "well I can set up the appointment for you now." I said so "you've had a referral for me for the correct Dr and never called me to schedule it?" She said they don't have the staff to handle all the referrals. Then why the hell do they not tell all the providers that they aren't taking any more referrals?? Recently my doc referred me to them for a colonoscopy. They never called me to set up the appointment. I called them and they said they didn't have the referral. I called my doc back and they assured me Summit had my referral. I called Summit again and they said they didn't have it. I called my doc and they assured me that Summit had it and had confirmed with them that it was received. Im done with Summit!! read more

Terrible service, terrible bedside manor. Nothing resolved. Told to basically get some medical devices (BP cuff and glucose reader) and that will tell me my issues. No lab work done to test the a1c. Had a mammogram on 3/17. It's now 4/4 and I've spent three of my days off running in circles with this office that can't seem to find my scan or results. Had to file a complaint with my insurance company and get a new referral for my annual mammogram outside of summit. This office is completely clueless and no one can give me an answer on what happened to my results. They sure billed me for it though... go somewhere else! read more

I walked in on a Sunday to the urgent care, waited maybe an hour and a half. I felt it was reasonable. Took me for an x ray then they contacted a doctor, gave me a splint, prescription and sent me home. Very professional. Back in a week and met a delightful PA , Adam Short. This young man showed me my x-Ray and explained thoroughly where and how it broke. Was not patronizing or condescending. Gave me good advice, what to expect etc. went yesterday and showed me my new bone growth. David is the x-Ray tech, super nice and totally kind, anyway, so happy with them read more

My husband is 66 and had the worst call with a PA-C. This man was defensive and obstructive and told my husband that if he challenged him about a request for medication (antiviral) for travel overseas that he would "cut him out of the Summit Healthcare system". Not only that, this PA-C kept marketing himself as a "doctor". PA's are not board-certified MDs-period. And if they present themselves that way it's a bad sign. I'm glad he told my husband that he doesn't want him as part of Summit for asking for prophylactic antivirals while traveling oversees because I wouldn't send my dog or cat to Summit Healthcare. I've told my husband that for years. If you challenge these people on their decisions, they will completely fight with you as though you don't know what you are talking about as a lay person. There are better options out there in Bend Oregon. read more

Went in today and had made a appointment ahead of time which is awesome. Appointment at 10am and out by 11am and that involves waiting on urine test from lab. Yes results came in too. Great service when I walked in and when I left. I would for sure go back. Dr and nurse both were great. The PA Dr. Reed was very personal and professional and explained everything great. read more

I have never in my life left a doctors office and felt like they actually listened and cared. Dr. Brown CARES! I've had multiple doctors here in Bend and Dr. Brown trumps them all. Wow! I'm shocked that there are so many negative reviews. I think that's because people who have had a bad experience are more likely to complain than satisfied people are to take the trouble to report. I am a satisfied and grateful patient. Have had mammograms here for several years. When I returned for further tests after a troubling finding, I was a bit upset. I think the receptionist wanted to jump through the window and hold my hand--she was so helpful and empathetic. (I think her name was Angel. Seriously.) The mammogram techs have all always been professional, kind and patient. The receptionists and medical assistants are thoughtful, personable and efficient. Eventually Dr. Erin Walling was my surgeon. She was recommended by a friend/physician, and I soon was very thankful for that. Dr. Walling is always thoughtful, helpful, empathetic and professional. She provided everything expected or desired, and more, for a person going through a bad experience. What can one do to thank a doctor like that? At the very least, write a glowing and grateful review. read more

Terrible company with very bad business practices. Maybe 3 or 4 times they have declined to have a test or procedure done that my Dr has requested stating "your insurance won't cover it" so then I have to call my insurance and gat proof they are going to cover it before BMC will do it. Each time this delays me getting the care that I need. They also push their political agenda onto their employees and then ask them to try to convince their patients, for example, to vote no on a corporate sales tax. My Dr. Tamara Everhart, is great and has taken good care of me but my other Pulmonologist, Dr Davignon is complete piece of shit, negligent, asshole that doesn't do his job whatsoever and when I called him out on that he told me to switch over to Saint Charles. Ha! Don't gotta tell me twice. By far the worst care I have ever received at any medical center. Skip this "for profit" enterprise and go over to Saint Charles instead. read more

I was told be by my doc that a test was pre-authorized. It wasn't and I ended up with a $600 bill. The billing dept said that it's legit as I have a deductible. Wouldn't they have discovered that if they checked like they told me they had??? I heard from a clinical manager that was very helpful and resolved my problem. It took over 10 phone calls but, we got to a good place. read more

Terrible company with ridiculous business practices. These folks can not seem to get it right. Went (on a drop by basis) to see my doctor to patiently wait for an quasi-emergency visit after what I thought might be an over reaction from a treatment - yes they should allow that. Its a normal course of following up. No this is not my first rodeo. Yes, I've done this for decades with other docs, even been told by this doc to do so many times. So I called ahead to ask for an appointment, just to be official, but the appointment staff doesn't really care about any such instructions from a doctor, they have RULES, so I was told an appointment was "three months out" and since there is no way to contact your doctor directly at BMC, (well there is technically but you have to know the extension numbers because the appointment desk does acts like you shouldn't talk to the doctors office directly, and if you do have or get the number, you WILL NOT be able to speak to anyone as they are not caring enough to answer the phone, even though they might not be busy. Seems to be a policy to ignore the phone. So you'll have to leave a message. But you shouldn't hold your breath because no one will call you back, at least not during the same month (if at all). Knowing all this, I decided to go and wait to see IF my doctor might have 2 min to look at me and tell me the reaction was ok or not ok (as I was told). You see I was supposed to have a reaction, that's right, it was expected. It was the purpose of the medication to react in order to rid the problem, just wasn't sure if it was too much of a reaction or just right, and since it was painful, I thought it made sense to check, so I don't think the normal "if its an emergency, call 911" would have been an appropriate or useful route, just excessively expensive, not to mention a waste of time and $$$$ money. Boy did I get one hell of a nasty attitudinal receptionist. The doctor has no time. (There are two other patients in the waiting room and the office closed in three hours for the weekend.) Its ok, I'll be glad to wait. No, you can't do that! Why not, I asked? Is the doctor here? (Yes) Is he in surgery? (No) Then I'd be happy to wait here reading a magazine or doing business I brought with me (reading) while I wait for a chance, if possible, to see him. Just a minute would do, if you could just let him know I am here. Maybe at the end of his day, he could just give me one minute. (No...Excuses, Excuses, Excuses). None made any sense other than to demonstrate the check in person simply wanted to be a witch and overcontrol access to my doc. Good customer service personnel never say "no", they say "of course we can help you!" They figure out a solution that makes people feel welcome and as if are grateful you chose their business and they are concerned with your problem or solution (in this case health and well being - no small things). BMC apparently hires and trains people to dislike customers as they have NONE of those folks. Receptionist made an uncomfortable scene. Saw my doc finally and made note with him. Got a call from some nobody later, (second day on the job in a office somewhere unrelated to the doc), who told me I should go somewhere else. Asked for a call back from a supervisor, but got nothing. Thanks BMC. You are truly working on a "unified provider - client partnership by deploying a team of professionals who care and work to provide the best quality patient experience available." BALONEY!! I hope you go bankrupt. Looking at some of the other reviews, I am not alone. read more

In my last review I mentioned that I called BMC to complain about the lack of availability on Fridays. I complained a second time, specifically about a particular Doctor's staff member. After the complaint I was "fired" by the Doctor. Yep. Told to find another Doctor within BMC to handle my needs. So, when you complain about Staff... you get fired by the Doctor. And BMC allows it! Since I've been at BMC, late 2014, I've lost so many Doctors. BMC goes through Doctors like most people go thru clean underwear. The turnover rate is very high. It's hard to establish relationships when you get several letters each year letting you know your Doctor has left the practice. It's only the beginning of May 2017 and I've already received 2 letters letting me know 2 different Doctors have left BMC. Lovely. read more

This post is about the urgent care at bend memorial clinic. During my time here, I've had to come in twice in the last week. The first visit here was okay, certainly not the best care and overall not the worst. I got in and out of there in a reasonable amount of time. The doctor let me know that he believes that i could have pneumonia but he would like to treat it as a cold before being more invasive. The doctor gave me the cough medicine, antibiotics, sent me on my way. They said if i have had little to no change in symptoms in a week come back. During my time home, I gave the medication time, rested, stayed home from work. I did everything i could to help my body rest. The antibiotics that were prescribed made me sick, constantly throwing up or dry heaving after taking them. The second visit, a AWFUL experience. From beginning to start of the two hours i was here, was absolutely chaotic, unorganized, and slow. Got checked in, waiting for the doctor and in walks in a older gentleman who was obviously in a lot of pain. The lady at the front desk yelled for a nurse because the guy almost fell face first. It took them approximately 4 minutes for someone to come out there with a wheel chair, while multiple other patients got up to help hold this guy up. I get in to see the doctor, expressed the multiple concerns I had because my symptoms are becoming worse. I was completely and totally dismissed by the doctor, saying that i was "Fine." I let her continue to work me up, and she continued to tell me I was fine. I kept telling her that it was hard for me to breathe and I was dizzy. The doctor let me know that I was "fine", but she'll give me a shot for a migraine. Each interaction with any doctor was short, probably about 5 minutes each but about 20-30 minutes between. The doctors and nurses ended up gossiping about other patients, talking about their "fake" symptoms, ect. The doctor just ended up giving me new cough medicine and a shot for a migraine. She said that they were closing in 20 minutes but to come back again if the symptoms are continuing. This is now going to be the third doctors visit, i've missed almost two weeks of work, as well as gotten no where with what could be going on. I've went to this facility for YEARS, and over this dismissal of patient care, gossiping, and overall experience I will not be going back. read more

Very pleased today with our experience at BMC on the Eastside. This was our first visit to this location. We have been frequenting the Westside and Old Mill locations because that's where my children's primary caregivers are located. We got a referral to ophthalmology today for my daughter, they were able to see us right away for an injury that my daughter received the previous evening. Dr. Majerczyk was efficient and thorough with his exam and was able to determine that she had a scratch on her cornea. He presented the information to us in a way that was easy to understand and did a great job of helping us see the big picture, long term effects, etc. Prescribed a treatment plan and explained what we should expect as far as the recovery time. Office staff was friendly and efficient. We were seen almost immediately without an appointment due to the nature of the injury and the referral from their Old Mill office. Easy accèss, plenty of parking. read more

Don't kid yourself. This is a business like any other. Their chief concern is not your health, bur rather their bottom line. My experiences here have proven that to me. I will be going elsewhere for my medical needs in the future. Attitudes of the staff could use improvement as well -- from the front desk and phone bank to the medical students posing as doctors, my experience has been overall negative. Not sure how I feel about reviewing a medical service because this was "urgent" and not an "emergency" so my disclaimer is that this experience probably differs wayyyy more than than ordering from a place with a menu... But! I have to say this clinic was an unexpected surprise. Firstly, that we had to go there on our vacation weekend in the first place and secondly, that it was a simple easy experience. Again....I'm pretty sure this may have been the luck of good timing more than anything, but we will definitely take it and be thankful. Staff members were efficient, facility was clean and modern, they had masks and hand sanitizer everywhere to help minimize germ-share...which is not why we were there so we appreciated that a lot. When you don't have many.....or any.... other choices and still think "I would go there again", that's definitely a five star in my book any day. read more

Not all the doctors here are caring. Avoid some of them, particularly Dr. Mitchell. Ask for a referral and you get brushed off. This medical center is corporatized and not about you or your health. My advice is to find someone else for your health care. read more
