I was on a camping trip with my family from out of town and needed medical attention…read more And I'm so glad I found St. Charles Hospital in Bend. From the minute I walked into the emergency department I was taken care of in a very kind, efficient and professional matter. It was about 7 o'clock at night when I checked in with a friendly lady (unfortunately I don't remember her name). The check in was easy and quick. After only spending a short period in the waiting area I was seen by a wonderful triage nurse (Jacquie). She asked me some questions and I was immediately taken into a room where another nurse (Mike) looked after me. The room and the hospital itself is very clean and modern. Mike took some blood, brought me warm blankets and started an IV line. Just shortly afterwards I was seen by Dr. Ryan Petersen and nurse Emma who did an exam. Both were very respectful and professional. I also had to get an ultrasound and Erin made me feel calm and took care of me ever so gently. As my husband and son were waiting in our RV just outside on the parking lot we were given a list with nearby hotels and parking facilities, which was truly thoughtful. Both my husband and son were able to come and see me for a short period of time for some much needed support. Later that night I was discharged and Cody one of the hospital administrators took my details. We had a brief yet deep conversation and I could feel that I was not just a number or patient, but a human being with physical and emotional needs. The staff at St. Charles hospital is just excellent. They do listen and they do care!! Dr. Petersen came to see me one more time before leaving the hospital and handing me my discharge papers as well as explaining what had happened and how to handle the aftercare. Even though I was relieved to leave the hospital Nurse Mike made farewell just a little harder! Mike: you are an amazing nurse and such a wonderful person with a big heart! I'm so thankful for you! I must say that I'm more than impressed with the care this hospital provides. The emergency department surely has a fantastic team and everyone is going out of their way to make patients feel comfortable, reassured and safe. I have so much appreciation, respect and gratitude for each and everyone going the extra mile! Thank you ever so much for all your sweetness, kindness, compassion, professionalism and hard work!!!

Arrived at ED Check-in at 10:06, had vitals taken 20 minutes later, then NOTHING for over 5…read morehours...and counting. No way to get any info on where I am in the queue. Should have gone to Redmond's ED, where there were only 4 waiting. This system is poorly managed and understaffed. Avoid if at all possible!!! I'm going home in another hour and will go to Redmond tomorrow, if I survive.

I have never experienced such an incredible experience. This is the most wonderful team you will…read moreever encounter, this place is truly a gem. If you are looking for a way to birth your way, have midwives that are all actual nurses but are the jack of all trades and still have all the security of a hospital and emergency care this is the perfect combination. From the moment I called, the whole team took my situation seriously and got me in quick for induction. They were so loving and kind! Dr. Blake was incredible. He was patient and efficient and allowed me to push for 2+ hours to deliver a higher risk baby that very well couldve had to be a c-section baby at any other hospital but thanks to him and his team and a lot of hard work, he came out safely and beautifully. They truly fought for me and my baby and treated us like we were top priority from the very first phone call. They did an amazing job at delivering our baby boy and handled everyone of my concerns with so much ease. Dr. Blake and his team truly care about us moms, they are their biggest advocate. I cannot reccomend this place enough. Plus, what hospital let's their patients sleep while the incredible nurses tend and rock baby outside in the hallway? (Just an extra little perk;) ) Also, we werent kept any extra time and didnt have a ton of interruptions from random county services like bigger facilities and the food was awesome, best authntic Mexican breakfast burritos!

Do not use Kayla Carlson for your pediatrician!! She is a horrible doctor! My daughter suffers from…read morea kidney disease and has been recovering the last year From a relapse that resulted in a hospitalization and upon moving to Oregon I was told she would be in good hands.. the doctor in question I thought would be a good fit kayla carlson decided to tell me that the medication my daughter is taking had dangerous side effects that could be in long term too harmful this medication she is taking is in fact keeping her possibly alive and well. Now I'm not all for the pharmacology business but most medications or treatments like chemotherapy can save lives but can have serious side effects but none the less gives chances for survival. She suggested I take my daughter that is only 7 that she shouldn't be on the medication.. none the less risking the well being of my daughter. She was in fact wrong because she needs the steroids for her kidneys to properly function and after hearing from a specialist they quickly told her not to reduce the medication.. and that what the dose she has been taking has shown a significant help to her overall health. Over the last 6 months my daughter was taking the medication and our family endured a hardship that requires us to move twice and almost ending up completely homeless my daughter remained on insurance the whole time and was taking the medication as directed. Upon finally getting settled in and disputing her insurance issues we resumed care with her even though my daughter has been reassuringly taken her medications and urgently trying to find a doctor that could take her with her condition I did so as fast as I could to continue to get her help and care when I disclosed that with Kayla Carlson so told me I medically neglected my daughter and called the child abuse hotline on my family as if the constant battles with economic issues and other things were not enough to deal with as well the constant worries of being a mother fighting tears and doctors and insurance to figure out what is wrong with my daughter and than going through the struggles of getting a 7 year old battling being a kid and getting her to maintain her diet and taking her medications and having to explain to her that she is not like other kids and needs to take as good of care of her health as possible with eating healthy and washing hands and so on.. which most parents should do but in her general case needs to be extra careful a cold could hospitalize her .. the doctor tells me I'm medically neglecting her!!! How dare someone that barely knows me nor my daughter make such a careless remark! And even go as far as calling the child abuse hotline .. I could understand if she wasn't receiving her medication or any care at all.. but how dare that doctor make such an assumption my daughter has never even had so much as a cavity let alone gets neglected at home with her condition! I will be finding another pediatrician to resume care of my daughter. But I repeat do not use her as a doctor.. !! You will get dragged through the mudd for even doing you the best you can as a mother!
