Jamon iberico - we got the larger size, but probably good have gone for the smaller size Chicken and ham croquettes - super delicious and crispy Bun and roll with sopressada, cheese, honey - like a sweet bun with a bit of meaty/cheesy filling Crispy pork belly - crispy and chewy with good sauce Octopus on trinxat - octopus was a bit chewy and dry but the trinxat was delicious, only a few bites of octopus Paella with sausage and mushroom - thin layer of rice in giant pan, is sold for two people minimum, a bit salty Servers were kind and helpful. The food was great. The service was great. They do speak English here which was helpful and they gave recommendations. The only thing I would mention is that this is the only place so far that I've seen ask for tips, lol... that was a little odd to me so I'm guessing it's a tourist destination. But it definitely is worth it and it's right next to the sagarada familia if you want to stop by before or after visiting. The only reason I gave it four stars is because our waitress told us that she had a little dessert for us and it never came and other waiters just checked us out and asked for a tip. so I was mildly disappointed about that. But the salmon and gazpacho were so good. I would recommend those two! read more

Located on a beautiful street close to La Sagrada Familia this restaurant was excellent. The staff were welcoming and helpful. We sat outside on a beautiful night with a view of the basilica. The waiter recommended the Iberian ham and sourdough bread. It was amazing! We also had the pork shoulder paella which was delicious. A fantastic meal to start our vacation. read more

5/5 for me TLDR: must order croquettes because these are the best in Barcelona!!!! We Decided to go tapas style and started with the flank steak tacos which were alright, tasted like Bireria tacos ,the Moms meatballs were good (rosemary very strong). Cannelloni with foie gras was delightful in the Parmesan truffle foam. The Burrata was the freshest in all of Barcelona. The bread and butter was a classic starter. Walked in without reservations, not being sure what to expect. We were extremely pleased with not only the food, but the EXCELLENT service. We came in early but the ambiance was just right. You could either sit a a bar and enjoy their craft cocktails, or go back towards the in terror of the restaurant. We were helped by Magali, who not only explained the menu, but made great recommendations. We enjoyed the Gambas al ajillo and they were very delicious with a nice spice that we enjoyed with our bread. We ordered a Paella for dinner and it was the perfect serving for both of us. Magali was extremely welcoming, and they even offered us a sample of a dessert, as a welcome to the city and so we could enjoy our dinning experience. There is a wide array of drinks and food for many palates, and all high quality. Service was alright - to deal with a big group is hard but Madre Taberna Moderna did alright! Madre is located in one of the most touristy parts of Barcelona (and we were a group of tourists), but it's definitely not a tourist trap serving mediocre food. This place is an oasis. When we were seated - the playlist set the vibe - relaxed, cool, edgy - and the mood of the place was the right mix of classy and chill. Our server, Marco, was fantastic from start to finish. He was attentive, talkative and bubbling with the right kind of energy. Food wise, we were really happy with everything we ordered. We ordered most of the items on the cold tapas menu and a few from the hot side. Standout items were both sardine dishes, the clams in salsa verde (special), the gazpacho, and the tuna salad. Even the complementary bread with smoked butter and tomato salsa was solid. On the hot side, the shrimp al ajillo and calamari were great, and the leftover sauce from the shrimp was perfect for dipping our remaining pieces of bread. If you're grabbing drinks, all of the spritz were flavorful and perfect for a hot day. Looking for a proper cocktail? Order the margarita for sure. All in all, Madre is a standout restaurant. If you're in the area visiting the Basilica Sagrada Familia, make sure to save some time to eat and chill at Madre when you're done with the tour. read more
