We initially walked in without an appointment met Michael spoke with us over an hour answering all of our questions and giving us helpful information with no pressure to choose their services! As opposed to all other places we visited us rushed us through pricing as well as wanting to have a decision as soon as possible. They helped us say goodbye and honor our loved one in a truly beautiful way. I can't express enough how much gratitude I have for the amazing job they did!

I found myself in a crisis situation where the sheriffs department told me to call a mortuary to come take care of a relative. It was a weekend and I had absolutely no idea how to proceed. I got out my phone and did a search for the closest mortuary and Alameda popped up. I gave them a call and explained my situation and the wonderful woman who answered my call walked me through exactly what the next steps were. I didn't get her name, but she was absolutely fantastic to work with in a very difficult situation. A few hours later, the right folks arrived and took care of the situation. The following Monday first thing in the morning we went to the funeral home and met with Paul. Paul was right out of central casting for somebody to guide us through what would happen over the next two weeks. Paul spent about an hour and a half with us that morning walking us through all of the things we needed to make decisions about and next steps. He was absolutely fantastic to work with and I can't possibly imagine how that very difficult experience could have been any better than to have been guided by Paul. I hope that if I ever find myself in this situation in the future, I can find Paul or somebody exactly like him. For the funeral itself, Michael was our funeral director and again we could not have asked for a better person to be in charge. Michael knew exactly what to do intuitively and working with him at the cemetery was absolutely fantastic. I really can't recommend Alameda Family any higher. Everything was taken care of in a perfect way.

Tom, our main contact, goes way beyond "professional and caring." His energy and passion for his work are palpable, and he's gracious, welcoming, knowledgeable, experienced, and clearly adept at managing the very fluid and time-sensitive nature of this work. He inspires great confidence that everything will be taken care of as it needs to be, including us, the family members! And, the entire team projects this same calm, caring and confidence. Dean, Christian, Jinno, Junno, and Austin, all participated in our events in some form or fashion -- from planning to post-event, printing to publishing, ushering and stage direction, and what I call the concierge factor (on the days of our events, everything was handled, and all we had to do was show up and be with our guests, and and any need or request was thoughtfully fulfilled). Working with Beddingfield illustrates one of the sadder markers of our times. That when a rare company does "everything" right, and approaches their work with full hearts, they stand out head and shoulders above the rest. A call to their office will be one of the best decisions you can make, during this time of need.

It took more than 9 days including the weekend, Saturday and Sunday. Rainbow was encouraging. She gave me the time, 3 PM, so we could delay our plan i.e. postpone to a later day. In the meantime, due to my "cyclic telephone conversation with Kaiser", I stopped arranging for details like flowers and other services. I will be posting my ordeal with Kaiser separately, later. Since I was angry, frustrated and did not understand the complications for Kaiser refusing, I did not have the energy and could not "REPEAT the cyclic information I HEARD". So, I did not update my family after every single telephone conversation. At one point, others in "Santa Clara Funeral and Cremation Services" started questioning and became involved. I believe that due to their involvement, we achieved a compromise and I accepted "the work-around". Thank you, Rainbow, and everyone who supported me during one of the saddest periods in my life. The store is in a tiny center on a corner with a couple other businesses. Very small parking lot that has one driveway entrance that dead ends (meaning the kind of parking lot where you'd have to back out of you can't turn yourself around to drive out head first). Fortunately, the parking lot was practically empty when I arrived late afternoon within an hour of their closing. The lady at the store was very helpful and understanding. She told me that since the body would be collected at El Camino Hospital, she recommended that I contact their Mountain View location on Castro St, due to proximity to the hospital. She gave me a helpful informational checklist. And she told me more about their process and pricing. This location has a small show room with full size caskets; the Mountain View location is smaller than this, and only has "sample" size display examples mounted on a wall.

Losing a parent is incredibly hard, but they handled everything with such a high level of dignity and grace that it truly eased some of the burden for us. Communication: From the very first call, I felt heard and supported. They were incredibly patient with all of my questions and kept me updated every step of the way, which gave me so much peace of mind. The Process: I found their approach to be very modern, transparent, and straightforward. There was never any pressure or "salesy" feeling, just genuine empathy and a focus on what my mother and our family needed. The Memorial: They helped us navigate the details for her memorial with so much respect. Everything was handled professionally, allowing us to focus on honoring her memory rather than worrying about the logistics. I am so grateful to have had their guidance during this time. If you are looking for a team that treats your loved ones with true honor and provides a seamless, compassionate experience, I cannot recommend them highly enough. I also really appreciated the honesty in their business model. I know it could technically be cheaper if they did every single thing in-house, but they intentionally use outside sources for certain steps to ensure everything is handled by specialists. I actually felt like I got more value this way because I knew I was getting the best possible care at every stage. It's also worth noting for other families that they don't have an embalming service; they focus purely on a dignified, natural process which was exactly what we wanted for my mom. I am so grateful to have had their guidance during this time. If you are looking for a team that treats your loved ones with true honor and provides a seamless, compassionate experience, I cannot recommend them highly enough. Customer service: 5/5 Value: 3.5/5 Execution: 5/5 From a service standpoint, they excellent. The team is available 24 hours via phone and text. For the majority of my work with them, they were extremely responsive, had good pass downs between shifts and team members, and worked to meet all our needs and timelines. They never pressured us into anything or upsold us. They just wanted to support whatever we needed. My family needed an expedited cremation and memorial all within a week of my family member passing and Honor Cremations was able to make that happen and get the paperwork done with the county in that timeframe. Honor's paid casket option was cheaper than other crematories and was a very nice, presentable casket. Honor does not embalm in house but has embalming providers they can work with. The only reason I would hesitate to select Honor again is because other crematories were more cost effective (up to $1000 cheaper for our package selections), but Honor did what they could to reduce costs and provide flexible options and offerings. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others if service and empathy is a top priority.

I treat this place as a place to unwind and relieve my stress of commuting on the craziest Bay Area thoroughfares 85/280/680/880/101/17. Few decades ago, we laid our dad in the ground. At that time, it was a new area. Everyone in the family had a job to do. My older siblings were dealing with finding a plot with good Feng Shui, negotiating and purchasing a family plot. Since I'm the youngest, I got to design the headstone. I remember it was a lengthy process. It took almost a year to get it installed. We have a most unique looking with Chinese motif on a specialty stone that would last for our children's lifetime. The grass was specifically maintained. I don't know where they find water during the California droughts. But they have a huge solar-panel farm behind the office. Anyway. The place is very clean and inviting. One time I had trouble finding my uncle's family plots. Silly me, I went up and down the aisles (accumulated 3 miles on my fitness app). Then, a godsend lady told me to find the plot number at the office. Ah. Thank God! I had a good exercise that day, anyway. So, I read all 16 reviews before I can sum up mine. Most of the lower rated reviews had issues with customer service. I was too young to deal with anyone in the office. Now, I'm a visitor. I still don't need to deal with a live person. P.S. Visiting hours change during winter. It closes an hour earlier at 5. Summer time closes at 6. No one should be at the cemetery after dark.
