    Rocks for donuts
    John B.

So I stopped by Maggie's Doughnuts in Middlefield to get some fresh variety of doughnuts like I have in the past during certain occasions, BUT this time I was given some Donuts which I would consider day OLD Rocks, yes not sure what happened but the Amish girl behind the counter gave me a variety of doughnuts and I paid and walked out the door, Little did I know when I got home and gave some to my family MANY of them were HARD AS ROCKS and defiantly Not day FRESH, I would of been better off walking into a Walmart and buying the boxed donuts and they would be fresher and tastier.. I Paid $7 bucks for 6 doughnuts which isn't cheap and it just was NOT worth it at all , IF I knew they would be ROCKS, I wouldn't even wanted them for free.. Shame Shame pushing out OLD STUFF as Fresh is not a good way to Keep Customers... I won't be back.......

I ate 13 donuts in 6 days while in Middlefield. I don't eat sweets, and I never eat donuts but I was told that Maggie's donuts was the best on the planet. Well that seems to be a little big so I had to try it myself. Oh my, I snap chatted and facebooked every time I went in there. The donuts are incredibly good. The family that owns it is so wonderful that I did a vlog on them. This place is special. My top favorites are the cinnamon roll, croissant, custard donut with chocolate frosting, and then the blueberry cake donut. you have to get a donut here. You just have to. It's amazingly how tasty and not as sweet as other donuts are. I highly recommend if you're reading this, turn your car towards Maggie's and order a dozen. I promise you won't be disappointed.

Heritage Meats - Best hot dogs ever? Quite possibly.

I visited Heritage Meats in Middlefield recently. I was hoping they carried some high quality beef…read moresticks, but they didn't have the kind I wanted. I found some nice looking hot dogs though. A four pack was $3.71 and they were plump. This joint was jumpin'. There were people slicing meat, stocking shelves, ringing people up, chopping up sections of beef, and what have you. I felt like I had stepped back into the year 1800. I was very impressed with the establishment. I bought the hot dogs and some beef sticks. At home, I was a little too excited, so I microwaved one of the hot dogs for one minute. I thought to myself, "Hmmm. These are Amish hot dogs. I wonder if they're fully cooked." I ate it anyway. It was the best microwaved hot dog I've ever tasted. It had a good amount of moisture and a ton of flavor with a hint of smokiness. Loved it. A while later I thought, "That was a great hot dog, why not have another?" So I did. When my wife and son got home, I told them about the hot dog experience. The next day, they ate the two remaining hot dogs and agreed with me regarding their flavor. Now I have to drive an hour to Middlefield to buy more of these amazing hot dogs. Luckily, I have business to do in Middlefield. I will be a repeat customer whenever I can.

I spent $100 on meat (pork butt and beef ribs). The pork butt was good and well-trimmed. The beef ribs had way too much fat, which jacked up the price. I'll have to take a better look next time I shop before I accept their meat offering.

This Giant Eagle is smaller than others within driving distance. However, because they're local,…read morethey're convenient. Sometimes I'm not able to find the same items at this location vs another. On a most recent visit, we went shopping for items to complete our thanksgiving day feast. Giant Eagle seemed to have some of the better prices compared to other grocery stores. Not everything was cheaper, but a majority of the items were. We needed to pick up a turkey, side fixings, condiments, random veggies, household items and bread - you know, for the stuffing. The main reason for our visit was for the turkey, they were offering their brand turkeys for $0.49 a pound. This was nearly half of other competitors pricing. We noticed they had carried a bread by a name brand specifically made for "stuffing". It was un-sliced, more dense, about 16 oz vs 20oz worth of product for $0.99 - same price as the Giant Eagle white sliced bread. We figured we would try it.. 8 loaves later, we moved on to grab our other items & then headed to the checkout. We weren't asked for our loyalty card, or phone number. When I mentioned it, the lady said whenever we were ready we could tell it to her so she could add it. The items were rang up & we were given our total, it seemed fairly higher than the math I did in my head.. neither here nor there, I forgot to give her my phone number so she could pull my loyalty information. She also didn't ask for it.. both our faults. When I checked the screen in front of me, I noticed the bread rang up at $2.49 PER loaf. When we selected the bread from the shelf, it was marked at only $0.99. She said no problem, she called a manager over for a price check. The manager seemed bothered, but went to check the price for us. Several minutes later.. which seemed forever long since the bread isle wasn't that far away from the checkout area.. she returned. She informed us that the bread was placed in the wrong area on the shelf. The actual price is $2.49 per loaf, not $0.99. She didn't say sorry, she didn't offer to price match it, she didn't offer anything. She literally walked away without a word. She took a while in the isle because she actually moved ALL of the product during this time. Instead of returning to us with the pricing and moving it afterwards. We had several people behind us in line that wasn't too happy either. We kindly asked the cashier to remove all 8 loaves from our bill, we didn't want to pay such a large difference. She was quiet about it, read us the new total and we paid so we could leave. We ended up getting bread elsewhere. $7.92 total vs $19.92 = $12 difference that actually paid for our 22 lb turkey.... Anyways, make sure to check the sale signs.. read them fully. Just because the items are behind those signs.. don't mean that they belong there. Pay attention to your bill as it's rung up. The management doesn't seem to care much about the way the store here is ran.
