The Kirklin Clinic (5/5) has always pulled through for me. They are the main reason I moved back to…read moreBham in the first place since my physician was here. The quality of care I have received has been more consistent than it has not. There have been one or two individuals I haven't cared for, but I took the proper channels to address them. Parking is a pain like any other medical facility so be sure to account for that when deciding your arrival time. Be aware of EVERYONE walking in the garage. Someone will pop around a vehicle in a blind spot quickly. They have coffee that you can purchase at the cart or Starbucks if you just really need it. Sneaky Pete's and Wall Street Deli are easily accessible if you don't bring your own food, snacks, drinks and of course there are other options you can walk or drive to if able (sending someone else is ideal if you're here for treatments instead of a regular appt). Bathrooms are clean/checked often, facility is clean, most staff is pleasant/helpful. I find it easy to navigate by following the signage. Add some additional time for elevator wait times in case they are busier than normal. This is a high traffic building in general. My main complaint (0/5) is with the changes in the 5th floor infusion clinic (I can't speak for other areas). The individual that took them over at the end of last year has made several changes. One of the main ones I find an issue with is claiming there is no budget for snacks or drinks for the patients anymore. It used to be customary to offer a snack and drinks upon receiving your treatments to help with nausea, mask the horrible taste you have while receiving treatments, provide something for your time there, etc. I bring my own anyway, but there are several individuals who simply forget, don't focus on it because or pain or discomfort, or cannot afford to do so. There were 6 complaints I heard in the pod I was in for my most recent treatments over this change. I loveeeee the nurses here and even they aren't pleased delivering the news each time. UAB makes entirely too much money to claim $.05 cheez its, peanut butter crackers, chips, etc are out of budget. They offered that and more plus ginger-ale, juice, other sodas or water for years! The little things tell you if a facility cares about/values you as a patient. If you think people don't notice - they do. Even from something the higher ups feel is so small.

The food court has several stations, including a salad bar, meat-and-three, sandwiches, and of course, the pizza bar. Everything looked clean and organized, even the salad bar, which can sometimes get messy after a lunch rush. There were four or five cashiers working, so the line moved quickly, and they accept both cash and major credit cards. Their most recent inspection in November 2025 gave them a score of 90. The only issues noted were that the cheese on the salad bar and the pre-made sandwiches were slightly out of safe temperature range. One suggestion would be to add a dessert bar for a sweet treat fix. Overall, it was a smooth experience and a great option if you want a fast, satisfying bite while you're at the hospital.

The cafeteria has a wide variety of options, which is nice whether you are there all day for work, class, or visiting someone in the hospital. There were multiple stations including hot meals, grill items, salad options, and grab and go choices, which made it easy to find something that fit what I was in the mood for. I ordered a hot plate with a protein, vegetables, and a side, and the food tasted fresh and well prepared. The portion size was reasonable and filling without being overwhelming. The cafeteria itself was clean and well organized, especially considering how busy the hospital can be. The atmosphere felt calm for the most part, though it did get a little loud during peak lunch hours. Service was efficient and staff moved the line quickly, which I appreciated since many people are on tight schedules. While it is still cafeteria food, the quality and variety make it a reliable option. I would definitely eat here again if I am on campus or at the hospital for an extended period of time.

Everyone was super polite and positive. The Godly atmosphere and family oriented staff are great! I even heard one nurse correct another for cussing. After being taken back was told by NP Laura that "unless your labs show evidence of end-stage organ (i.e. liver, kidney) damage" your BP is NOT an emergency and we will not be addressing or treating it at all in the ER. You need to see a primary care doctor to add ANOTHER BP Rx to control this, all we will do is a chest x-ray to rule out emergenct causes of the syncope and labs to see if you have organ damage but we will not be treating your blood pressure because it is NOT an emergency. I was flabbergasted and began removing the chest leads so I could go somewhere that would treat me, hopefully before I had a stroke, and NP Laura says panickedly to the nurse "make sure you document this." As I'm walking out of the room the nurse tries to stop me saying "you need to sign this" and I told her I would not be signing anything. I went immediately to a doctor's office down the road for a prescription of the necessary BP medicine as I was told to do by this unhinged "nurse practitioner" (never did see a doctor) where, after having my BP taken I was told I could not be treated there because my BP WAS HIGH ENOUGH TO CONSTITUTE AN EMERGENCY and that an ambulance was being called to take me to Grandview! I told them what happened and they were stunned, as were the paramedics - I was finally taken to a different ED where I was treated with no issue, costing me an enormous amount of money and time during which I could very well have had a stroke. STEER CLEAR OF GRANDVIEW! I'm not really sure what business they are in but it sure as hell isn't medicine!
