All the staff, from valet, patient transport, check in and docs.... All kind, compassionate. I feel like they each care about the patient needs and outcomes. I also found the space to be very calming. Which was super helpful. The bright light streaming in. The facility was also very clean!! Which I find to be indicative of quality of care.

The quality of care I have received has been more consistent than it has not. There have been one or two individuals I haven't cared for, but I took the proper channels to address them. Parking is a pain like any other medical facility so be sure to account for that when deciding your arrival time. Be aware of EVERYONE walking in the garage. Someone will pop around a vehicle in a blind spot quickly. They have coffee that you can purchase at the cart or Starbucks if you just really need it. Sneaky Pete's and Wall Street Deli are easily accessible if you don't bring your own food, snacks, drinks and of course there are other options you can walk or drive to if able (sending someone else is ideal if you're here for treatments instead of a regular appt). Bathrooms are clean/checked often, facility is clean, most staff is pleasant/helpful. I find it easy to navigate by following the signage. Add some additional time for elevator wait times in case they are busier than normal. This is a high traffic building in general. My main complaint (0/5) is with the changes in the 5th floor infusion clinic (I can't speak for other areas). The individual that took them over at the end of last year has made several changes. One of the main ones I find an issue with is claiming there is no budget for snacks or drinks for the patients anymore. It used to be customary to offer a snack and drinks upon receiving your treatments to help with nausea, mask the horrible taste you have while receiving treatments, provide something for your time there, etc. I bring my own anyway, but there are several individuals who simply forget, don't focus on it because or pain or discomfort, or cannot afford to do so. There were 6 complaints I heard in the pod I was in for my most recent treatments over this change. I loveeeee the nurses here and even they aren't pleased delivering the news each time. UAB makes entirely too much money to claim $.05 cheez its, peanut butter crackers, chips, etc are out of budget. They offered that and more plus ginger-ale, juice, other sodas or water for years! The little things tell you if a facility cares about/values you as a patient. If you think people don't notice - they do. Even from something the higher ups feel is so small.

Every time I've ever had to go to this office, from my initial call to Jay at the front desk to make an appointment, through the call from SB, the nurse practitioner, following up after my visit, I'm made to feel like I am their only patient! On a recent visit I received service that I thought did not exist anymore. Without going further into detail, let's just say that Dr. Weisberg proved without doubt that he is the most caring doctor I've ever had the pleasure of dealing with! Not only that, he and SB tackled my medical issue aggressively to ensure that it was dealt with as fast as possible. I'm forever grateful to this great group of people and the level of service that they provide!

Very soon afterwards I was seen by a PA, went to x-ray, treated, and after a brief wait at pharmacy I was on my way. All within 2.5 hours! Unbelievable. Very courteous and efficient staff. My visit with the Russell burn clinic was a follow up to an ED visit for a burn to my hand. Being…read morenew to Alabama and having never been to UAB main hospital, I found it frustrating to find the right parking deck. Having worked at a level one trauma center myself, I absolutely should've known to allow more time to get to the clinic on time. Either way, if you're going to the clinic, you'll need to park in the 4th Ave parking deck. (You can put UAB 4th Ave public parking in your GPS) Allow 20 extra minutes to find parking and get to the clinic. My parking was validated by the gentleman at the check in. That was a pleasant surprise. The other staff I had were wonderful! Shun was amazing. She's an RN who's been doing burn care nursing for 17 years. She is very personable and thorough in reviewing my medical history. The PA who saw me, Jared Morrison, was pleasant, professional and answered any and all questions I had. He explained the care of my burn thoroughly and made sure I understood. I was also given supplies to continue caring for my burn. Very happy with the care I received which has given me a good first impression of the main UAB hospital. (Parking aside! )

Was originally told by the surgeon that I would be able to go home after two days in the hospital. Despite the delay, I was pleased that the doctors kept me until they were satisfied I could safely go home. My recovery at 3 weeks post surgery is going well. I am a 78-year-old widower from Auburn.

I was finally called to be checked in at 11:45 and called back at 12:20. I made it to my 2 PM appointment at 1:15, and the lady at the check-in desk told me my appointment was at 10 AM. I explained to her that my 10 AM appointment was at the hospital and that I had a 2 PM appointment in the plaza. She then asked if I was sure. I said I was 100% sure and showed her my wristband as proof. She then asked me if it was a hospital band. She searched around on the computer and said she did not show me as having been at the hospital that morning. I can't make this stuff up. She then told me I didn't have a 2 PM appointment scheduled. I told her I did when I called that morning to confirm the time. She told me to have a seat. At 3 PM, I went to the desk and asked her what was going on. She said, "Oh, I forgot about you." I informed her that I was not going anywhere without being seen that day, so she needed to do whatever it took to find whichever doctor it was that I needed to see. Finally, around 4:15, I was called to be checked in and called back to be seen around 4:25. The doctor doing my exam was very apologetic and explained it was a misunderstanding (it always is). I have no choice but to go to Grandview, but if you do have a choice, please choose wisely. Read the reviews.
