Death wobble issue After an accident my unlimited Jeep Wrangler had a death wobble issue which would make the car shake at speeds higher than 40mph. Rafik was so helpful, it was my first time having to handle such a car problem on my own. My car was leaking power steering fluid and it was leaking so much that it became difficult to steer. I couldn't drive my car (frankly was too afraid) Rafik drove all the way to me, the morning of, to figure out what was wrong. He ended up driving my car to his shop and had it ready in the afternoon. Great service and prices! Had a battery issue on a recent trip to LA from Las Vegas. We stopped at a couple different places on a Saturday around 2pm but everything was either closed or didn't have the right battery for a Mercedes or couldn't put it in for us. We were referred to Rafik at Magic Fix Auto Repair. Not only did he get us in right away, but had the battery delivered and replaced within a short time while we waited. Rafik was so helpful!! I called about 2 hrs before they closed the other night because I accidentally ran over something on the freeway and my car was making a funny noise. Rafik said he could take a look so I drove over. He checked it out in the parking lot and said it was just a few caps underneath the car and would be an easy fix. Then he took it into his shop to put them on and he came back out to tell me I needed new rotors and brake pads on the back two wheels. He told me how much it would be and I agreed. He finished within an hour and a half! Before I left he offered to show me the old parts and explained to me why it needed to be done and what could have happened if I had waited longer to get new rotors and brake pads. I appreciated him explaining the problem to me and he answering a few of my questions. I couldn't recommend Rafik enough!! My experience here was the worst of any mechanic I have ever been to. Rafik did not explain the problem with my car or document the charges clearly. I brought my car in to be looked at another day and it was returned to me with the driver side mirror on the passenger seat. He offered to fix it, then replaced it with an upside down mirror from a different vehicle. I won't get a ticket, but it lowered the value of appearance of my car. Finally, I took my car in to be diagnosed for another problem and when I called to find out what needed to be done, he tells me I need to pay him an additional diagnostic fee. Wasn't sure if I should give 1 or 2 stars.... Probably one, but I'll give two because at least they're nice. I took my Honda here a couple years ago and Raffi told me all of the problems and his recommendations. The service was great. So naturally I'd return with my current car an 08 Scion. I knew the brakes were really bad and needed to be replaced, probably all around. I expected that and it was the case, I also needed new rotors and an oil change. The cost came out to about $450... Steep, but I figured my car needed it and at the moment I could afford it. I drive off and within 2-3 days my brakes are squeaking and grinding. I take it back in that week and they tell me one of the pads was defective, no charge. Ok, no problem. There's no more grinding and no more squeak. A few weeks go by and I start to here the squeak again. I have to drive my car literally every day for work... I don't have the time to keep going back to this shop. So finally, I take the car in for the squeak and tell them what is going on. I have no idea why but on that day only my car did not make one sound while we did a test drive. They said they'd take everything off and clean it anyway, make sure there were no problems. Apparently there were none and my car was good to go. The next day the squeak is back in full affect! It squeaks when braking slowly, when turning in or out of places, when backing up. It's loud, people stare and I have no idea what it's from. I wasn't going to write a review at all, simply take my car somewhere else. That is, until today. I took my car in for an oil change (at Glendale Lube) a little over 5000 miles after, like Raffi said. Mind you, I have topped off the car with oil my self, as to not run out. While I'm checking out for my oil change the woman tells me I haven't been in for 11000 miles. I told her I had the oild changed about 5000 miles ago. She said the oil was so dirty it looked as if it hadn't been changed at all and recommend i never go back to wherever it had been done at. So not only will I never return for an oil change here, but I will be taking all of my business elsewhere. read more

I was given a card to Rafik's shop from a friend who received it from a Professor at PCC. I took my old car to Rafik and he was very honest with me about what was wrong with it. There was a a lot wrong with my car. He fixed what he was able to in order to keep it running, but warned me that the car was on its last leg. I made the mistake of taking my car to another shop recently and was completely ripped off! The shop is on Colorado Blvd. in Pasadena near PCC. They kept my car for 4 days to make it smog passable and charged $724! All they did was change the air filter, a hose and make an adjustment. I took it back to Rafik who told me the repairs were unnecessary. The car was not worth fixing at all. The other shop promised to make it work "like new" for another $1200. Rafik was honest and told me that no amount of money would fix my car as it was old and there was too much wrong with it. The car was a 1996 Toyota Camry that I had bought used from Craigslist. It was not in the best condition when I purchased it, but it did run for 8 years. I opted to retire it and receive $1000 from the state instead of investing another dime in it. Now Raffi could have lied to me like the other shop and took my money to put a bandaid on the car so that it would run for a few more months and then I would have to pay more to keep it running, but instead of lying he was honest. He told me the car was not safe to drive and that I could cause an accident if I continued to drive it. The cost to fix everything would be well over what the car was even valued at. I have sent friends to Rafik who also had similar experiences and love the work he does. I have been to many mechanics over the years and it is so hard to find an honest one. If there is a mistake he will fix it because his reputation is important to him. Heck, he is even helping me find another car. How many mechanics will take the time to do that? read more

I tried 3 different mechanics in Los Angeles and so far Raffi has been the best. I went to Raffi when my old Toyota Camry radiator had a fracture and I needed to change it. I was getting price quotes from different mechanics and what Raffi gave me was by far cheaper and better than the others. When I told him that I have problems with my smog test he worked closely with his next door smog test to find out the problem and fix it. He is honest, kind and fair. read more

At the same time, he won't scrimp if he thinks a shortcut or a cheaper part would compromise my safety or the longevity of my car. Before him I had the same mechanic for 20 years until 3 years ago when I realized Rafik charged me even less than the mechanic I had who I thought was wonderful. Rafik has even driven to me when I hit a curb and blew the tire out (yes not my most proud moment) changed my tire, put the spare on and off I went to my appointment I was almost late for. This shop is located in the Mobil station at Eagle Rock and Colorado. The shop owner is a gentleman named Rafik, who has been working on my vehicles since 2009. I love that he is trustworthy and super honest. He provides quality work, while being as cost effective as possible. Basically, if there is a way for you to save some money he will let you know and he isn't going to sell you something you don't need. Also, with full fledged understanding that this may seem a little biased but I feel like it's important: I am a single mom and based on previous experiences, I am always a little uneasy walking into a new shop to service my vehicles, being a single woman and all. I have had way too many experiences, unfortunately, where a mechanic sees a woman and tries to sell me things I don't need, thinking I am not experienced enough to know any better. I must say, Rafik put me at ease without even me having to ask. He explains to me thoroughly what the issues are and what we need to do to fix it. Oh and without request, he is always showing me my old parts, which I think is really cool and just reaffirms his honesty. I came to this shop to put some coolant in my car... It was totally by accident and I gotta say I really lucked out! Not only did they offer to put the coolant in for me but they checked my oil and added that as well. Didn't charge me for labor or try to up sell me at all! Mechanics, Doctors and Lawyers can ruin your life in less than 3 minutes. These people at MAGIC FIX are amazing. I had one of the most difficult cars to work on a 1993 Twin Turbo Nissan 300zx. It was a beauty, and had seen 2 mechanics prior to Raffic. Both mechanics lied, got paid and were not able to work on the motor simply because it is one of the most difficult and sophisticated cars Japan has ever manufactured. It was not an easy job, I am sure this man did not make money on the job however he promised me put an engine in at a certain time, anything issue that came up he took upon himself and did not charge me an extra penny. It was a very labor intensive job, took up a lot of his time and space in his shop which disabled him from working on other customer vehicles. He did the following: Replaced Motor : Twin Turbo Replaced all fuel injectors w/pigtails Replaced EGR Valve Replaced Oxygen Sensors Replaced Turbos Replaced All hoses Replaced Motor Mounts Replaced Exhaust System After completing job, he followed up with me more than a few times to make sure the car ran properly. During the completion of the vehicle he had an emergency trip overseas, he even called me from his home country to ask me if everything was fine and if I needed anything that his brother will take care of me.
