Yesterday (Sunday), we had a lock break and an exterior door wouldn't open. Called Magic Key and he came right over. Within two hours, the door was opened, the lock was taken apart and diagnosed (the lock mechanism had broken-- we opted to replace the mechanism and the knob as well, which required some new hardware), new hardware was purchased, and everything was installed (including setting up the new lock so existing key would still work). And I should add-- very reasonably priced. I called another reputable locksmith and his charge just for a site visit (visit only, all repair, installation, etc billed separately) was about as much as Magic Key charged for everything. You know that saying about a person losing their head if it wasn't attached? There is a distinct possibility that it was made up in reference to me. I just now realized I have never asked his name but I see the guy from Magic Key Locksmith so much that I feel like I should add him to my Christmas list. I am almost certain that by now they have a separate line just for me since I lock myself out of my house on AT LEAST a quarterly basis. There were two times where I couldn't find his business card he gave me (I really should put him on speed dial) so I tried other companies. One place tore my lock up and was never able to get in; claiming my door was bad. Then the guy had the nerve to try to charge me. I had to call someone else and they were alright but nothing near as good as Magic Key Locksmith. Then the other time the guy was a complete jerk plus charged me a ton of money to open my door....while lecturing me the entire time. Anyway, they are awesome. They are always at my house within 20 minutes no matter what time of day I call. He is always extremely nice and he unlocks my door within seconds. A great experience today from Eli. He showed up on time (actually a few minutes early) to re-key a commercial lock for a condo front door. He quickly removed the cylinder and did the re-key very quickly and then reassembled the lock. I was only supposed to receive 2 keys but he is such a nice business person that I got an extra key. If I could give Eli 10 stars I would. Didn't expect much but he went above and beyond. He helped me cut one key and reprogram the old key. To cut the new key, he pulled the code from my car and laser cut it so it would be as close to original as possible. The new key is flawless and the old key works again. I managed to lock myself out of my car and discovered that my duplicate key was missing and my key fob no longer worked. I called late in the evening (8:40 PM) and expected to get an appointment for sometime tomorrow, but they told me they'd be at my location in 20 minutes. The locksmith shows up right on time, unlocks my car, makes me duplicate key, and programs it right there on the spot. Total time 12 minutes. He would have been done faster, but he went the extra mile by using the glovebox lock to make the duplicate key rather than just copying the worn out key rescued from the car.
