This is my second time working with Rob for TV mounting and home theater installs. 3 years ago Rob installed a surround sound system and mounted our Frame TV with wires in the wall. We have been so pleased with our new surround sound. 3 years and it's still one of our favorite things we've done. When our Frame TV's backlight died (do not recommend), we were so happy with his work the first time around, we didn't bother calling anyone else. Rob and Alex are very friendly. So Rob talked me into a Denon receiver (AVR-X2800H). It is a Perfectly Good AirPlay Client and when I play audio on my iPhone and AirPlay to the Denon it is in perfect sync with my HomePods. I did not even NEED to figure out anything except the setting to wake from sleep when AirPlay happens. I don't NEED an AppleTV. The Denon is perfect. So glad I got talked into it. The service I requested was to purchase the Denon and install it into a 5.1 configuration, and balance the sound. Rob got me a significant savings off of full retail price and the sound is great. There are some good installers who definitely know what they're doing but you're not going to run into a more experienced person in the industry as Rob. He doesn't try to upsell you on this and that. He's a straight shooter and in it for the long term. He did our rough wiring for a 7.2 system and true to his word he even questioned whether or it made sense to have more speakers than I was planning. While he was out here he quickly troubleshooted two network issues and came up with ingenious solution to bridge a bad pair in my cat6 with an extra line I had pulled so that I have at least one good hardwired ethernet line. As much as I like to stick to a single home theater installer, for this project I had no choice but to rely on "Request a quote". Luckily for me, the most responsive and the most knowledgeable out of the bunch was SHTI. Rob, Keam, and Alex are the dynamic trio! From the start of my communication with Rob, he was very thorough and never left any of my questions or inquiries unanswered. We transitioned to a live conversation, and to text messages until we decided on how to attack my project. He understood my objective, gave me a couple of options, provided me with an accurate quote, and confirmed a time and date for my installation. I had to re-locate a couple of in-ceiling speakers to be properly positioned as my front heights for Dolby Atmos, and also had four brand new in-wall speakers that needed to be installed as my new surrounds. Rob probably doesn't remember us but I remember this guy and his crew almost a decade ago. Best Buy had quoted me about $2000 to do some wiring through my house. Rob said he could do it for around $500. I was really apprehensive. At that time, i didn't trust no namers to do my house and he didn't have much reviews yet. But I said, what the hell. If he screws up, I'll I'll use the remaining $1500 to fix everything. Long story short, he does an amazing and clean job. He didn't cut any corners. This review is long overdue. We bought a new home last year and went head long into a pretty extensive renovation. I called Rob to get help us upgrade the home sound system and also get our TVs set up and mounted. I called several companies - talked to many people and got guidance and quotes. Of all those I spoke to, Rob stood out. He was, by far, the most knowledgeable and professional. He was friendly and approachable but his knowledge of home sound is impressive, actually I'll say phenomenal. He's a walking encyclopedia of sound. You can ask him anything and he'll gladly educate you. I don't know much about sound, home theater and the like, but he was never was condescending. He patiently and thoroughly explained everything I needed to know. To say he knows his stuff is such an understatement. He is ultra smart but doesn't make you feel like an idiot. He likes to talk and so do I so we hit it off. It was a pretty big job that required a few visits. We had six TVs and we were doing a home theater system in one of the rooms. Plus we were upgrading the speaker system (SONOS) that ran throughout the house. We bought all our TVs through him. He installed and mounted all of them - fished the cable wire out of the walls for all TVs. He got us good prices on the TVs and took time to walk me through all the choices I had. Another thing, I really appreciated his honesty. There were times he could have up-charged us or taken advantage but he didn't. He let us know where we could save money even if it meant making less money on his end. I called and texted him on his cell countless times, asking bonehead questions, confirming info etc, and he always answered right away and texted back lightening speed. Rob and Superior Home did a fabulous job - not a complaint. If I had one, he said he'd come back and make it right. Can't say enough good about them. We spent a lot of $ but it was all worth it. I still have his cell and I will text him every now and again when I have a sound question. He's always super busy but always takes time despite that. Rob is very experienced and did the work perfectly. Kim is a pro in wiring. Apart from hanging the projector and screen, they wired power, HDMI, audio and network lines across our ceiling and wall, and installed the outlets. The work is hardly noticeable after some touches of paint on the drywall. (The drywall has to be opened if you need to wire through wood stud or beam). I looked on Yelp and found two contractors to help me with my home theater installation. I had started this room renovation over a year ago and found out it was much more work than I alone could do on my own. I called Rudy of Custom Home Theater and the phone kept going to voicemail and he never returned my calls. Then I talked with Rob Lyons of Superior Home Theater Installation who is wealth of Audio Visual knowledge! He charges $150.00 to conduct a preinstall survey the room and see what needs to be done and which equipment will work best to give me the best experience for my money. Rob also is a reseller for KEF speakers, Sunfire Subwoofer, and Denon receivers. He also has connections for ordering custom screens. Rob and Keam did a good job of surveying the room and gave me a long list of actions on my part to complete before they returned to conduct the installation. I wish they had done more homework on the projector I had already purchased. Rob took measurements and ordered the custom sized screen from Screen Innovations which I prepaid for. We scheduled the installation date and I started to work off all the actions they gave me to be completed before the installation day. They showed up the day of the installation and started pulling wire through the walls and under the house and installed the projector with power mounting plate and provided a much better projection mount than the one I had bought. They installed the speakers and before they were done made sure everything they promised to be installed worked before they left. They used large drop cloths and cleaned up after they were completed and took many of the boxes. I was very happy with the quality of the work they did for the installation and how considerate they were to take their shoes off and not track dirt into the house and did an excellent job of cleaning up. They did not provide a total turnkey installation for me as I have to complete many more actions such as buy appropriate furniture and many other items to get the room finished. The projector used only 98 percent of the screen instead of the zero edge as advertised. I wish he had done a better job of specifications as he had made some assumptions that proved to be slightly in error. He suggested replacing the projector to solve the problem and due to the excessive replacement cost to me that was not an option. When Rob revealed these problems he appeared to indicate they were due to me. These issues should have been discovered and dealt with in the preinstallation meeting. So as installers they were great, as integrator's not so much. Rob was a great resource to point me in the right direction get all the final touches such as furniture choices for the room to be completed.
