Today my son and I wasted 2 hours of drive time from Austin and back because RCHQ didn't take the time to list a huge mini-z event on their website calendar. Event calendars are useless unless they are updated. Lesson, call first or just don't go... we won't be going again. Also, they now cater ONLY to Mini-z racers on the weekend, which means you won't be able to run your mini-b or mini-t RCs like you use to (except on bad off days like Monday and Tuesday which is BS). They also sell rock crawlers and bashers, but no real support or place to practice or run them etc. So you are better off buying online for those types of RCs as you'll get better deals. Also, next to no crawler or basher parts, even for the RCs they sell. We'll just buy our Arrma Kraton parts online and not waste our time at RCHQ. We were there to run our mini-b and buy new tires, LiPo battery, and telemetry sensor for jumps. Now we'll just buy those online. My son was so disappointed when we got there that he didn't want to watch the mini-z competition or buy anything from them. He said 'f-this place!' which was my exact sentiment. Lastly, the bald guy behind the counter disparaged the very same RC we bought from that store. They had no problem selling us the Mini-b... but then diss it when we brought it back in-store. Not the best idea to retain customers or sell upgrades. If I ran my business like this, I'd be out of business. Rolling Oaks Mall is practically a dead-mall at this point, so I'm expecting the niche products, poor offering, bad location, and rudeness (pretentiousness) will end this store soon. We were willing to drive out-of-our-way to spend our money at their store, but now we are not. I'd suspect my overall advice on this is just not to bother. Buy online, make your own track or use a parking lot, and just don't waste your time. No value in their current offering and mode.

Unlike other hobby shops they will help you repair your r/c cars and take the time to explain how to troubleshoot, - something you don't get by ordering online or even with other hobby shops around town. Plenty of room, a separate snack bar/eating area, air conditioning (we definitely weren't sweltering here), and just an overall beautiful building. Five dollars got you a ticket for prize giveaways and a blue band to get in and out as frequently as you would like throughout the day. Of course the time you spent at the show depended on if you were really looking for that CGC 9.9 Walking Dead #1 that sold for $10,000 on eBay recently or basically going through and seeing what was randomly available. The sellers were nice even when you weren't interested in anything or just browsing. I never felt pressured. But I did buy three ***STUNNING*** drawings by artist Tracy Watkins (I haven't had time to add the pics but I will as soon as I'm able to.). He even signed them for us too. :D Parking was not much of a challenge since attendees were in almost constant turnover. This was an afternoon well spent!

Sometimes it looks like there aren't enough tables/tools in there with all the customers but it always seems to work out! I would give 5 stars because we have continually gone back but I feel like more can be done to show what products are available. It's a silly complaint but I'm always a little bummed when I don't see a piece I would like to work on so I settle for something affordable. (Which in my experience range from $18, 22, 28, 34, etc. I am sure there are ones more/less costly) I also understand some items maybe seasonal or limited but I think snapping a couple pictures and updating their "inventory" on Facebook/Instagram a little more often could go a long way. Lastly, we have found ourselves wanting to go to the store a few times but arrive and realize they are only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. **BEWARE THIS PLACE IS A SCAM**…read more Go somewhere else for painting pottery! The ceramics are expensive with most pieces being between $32-$48, all with "Made in China" labels. However, there is no paint or kiln cost it's all included with the price of the ceramic so it makes sense that it is on the higher side. But with the cost of paint included we watched the employee ADD WATER into the paint bottles there. Then when I went to use the black paint it was so watery that it bled onto my other designs. I mean it's ceramic paint, not water color. When I told the girl working she said her boss added too much water to the black paint. My mom asked for the name of her boss and the girl said Videria but not sure how to spell it but didn't want to give her name. When I asked what to do about my piece because I had just spent hours working on it to have black paint run on it, she asked what I wanted her to do about it. I mean I feel like if you work at a pottery shop you should know how to wipe off paint or fix something if it gets messed up. My brother was working on a larger piece and on his second coat of paint when she came over and told him less goes farther. And took his paint away to bring him back a little amount. I'm not sure that treating people this way and diluting paints is the best way to run a paint pottery shop. If a boss or owner wants to reach out with their contact info my mom has a photo of the girl. At the end we spent $140 for four small ceramics and had inattentive service, and saw how slimy a business this place really is.
