Hobby Lobby used to be a pretty nice crafting shop but lately, strange things have been happening. This store, like the others, have taken on a huge amount of inventory that has pretty much nothing to do with crafting at all. The sections I used to frequent are also much smaller. Everything except the holiday stuff is 30 to 40 percent off. It's weird and it doesn't feel like HL used to. I was able to find some cake decorating items and it was nice that they were on sale but I'd rather have a craft store than one that's full of birdseed, t-shirts, and housewares. My only complaint would be checking out, there was o my one line and it was taking a long time. OMG there is alot of nice stuff here! A creative mind can go crazy with ideas to enhance their home! The ready made decorations are one thing, but the materials and design elements can be combined in so many ways that mass production made-in-China kitsch can be transformed to something really tasteful! I do not go here alot but when I do it is for framing stuff. They are better than Michael's in helpfulness, price, and quality. I had something framed at Michael's once and there were fingerprints left inside the glass. So unprofessional. April who works in framing is so nice. About six months ago I was there and saw this really nice framed Japanese geisha portrait on display on the wall. It had an exquisite (expensive) frame, the perfect gift for someone I know all into Japanese stuff. Anyway, I told April it was pretty and she said that the display items are rotated and eventually it would be for sale. I told her I was interested and she asked me for my phone number. I completely forgot about it and lo and behold I got a call months later and it was April to ask if I was still interested! That shows true caring and conscientiousness! I'm sure if you are in to arts and crafts, this is your Mecca. However, if you are me just looking for some white paper and two-sided tape, it can be quite daunting. How do you find anything in this place? It is quite a large space and appears to stock all kinds of stuff for projects I'm sure someone knows about. There didn't seem to be too many floor personnel available to help, so we wondered up and down aisles until we happened upon a roll of white kraft paper. Yea! Tape was found on the way out in a non-aisle space. Like I said I'm sure the artsy folks know where to go in this store for what they need. Me, the non-artsy, not so much. I couldn't see that the aisles had any signage to help you figure out what was there. A little frustrating. Maybe that's the business model - make the customer wander through every aisle. This may sound crazy, but this HL has improved its selection! Its got some decent clearance as well. With having a mall entrance and a parking lot entrance you'd think the lines flow pretty smooth. Don't be fooled. They don't. I will tell you the mall entrance clerk (usually always open) is the cashier with the smallest line. read more

I love Hobby Lobby! This location has so much items! I dont remember this location having so much stuff! I went to Hobby Lobby to buy paint for a home project. I found exactly the paint and supplies I needed. The large section made it easy to choose which paint brushes and sponges I needed. I started looking around the store and wow! So much sections and themes! I can go on and on about all the items! Flowers, cafe shop items, chess game items, biker items, colored glass in all shapes and sizes and more and more!! The wait in line was not so bad. Only one cashier. All the items were neatly in stock. Thats a plus! When items are all over the place, things get broken. I went to this Hobby lobby location to purchase a yarn that has been marked down in other Hobby lobby stores. This hobby lobby location was in the process of marking down yarn, however they refused to Mark down the particular yarn on their list because they were not ready to do so. This is ridiculous. I drove 20 miles I am handicapped and they could not mark down yarn on their list because they haven't got to it yet. Other hobby lobby stores had marked it down already days ago... Either their management is inept or They just don't care about customer service. I left the store extremely disappointed and will not come back to this location ever again. I don't recommend going there if you were looking for customer service that will help you out. Most stores would have marked the yarn down, because it was On their list to be marked and to help out somebody who drove 20 miles to get to their store. It was really weird to see people dumbfounded and unable to make a simple request happened. I would give the store zero stars if I could. Absolutely love this Hobby Lobby. Their variety is amazing with so much to choose from. I love that they have things fully stocked and great coupons. They have household items, wedding crafts, you name if they have it. Only downside it no military discount (Michaels has coupons and military discount) but other than that great. I do like that they also have local San Antonio items. They do always have great sales and coupons. The lines are a little long but pro tip, go to the back registers. Hobby lobby is a dangerous place. I always ask myself important life questions here, such as "do I need ceramic frogs?" "Could I use more scrapbook materials (for all those scrapbooks I plan in my ahead but never execute)?" The answer is almost always YES! And there is always a 40% off coupon, meaning I can get all the ceramic frogs I want. Service is pretty good at this location. The employees seem to know where everything is, even though there are a million aisles. I love the glass bottles and all the paper products. DIY possibilities are endless!! I could browse the Christmas ornaments forever. They put them up in July so there is plenty of time to look through them all. It doesn't bother me as much as other people that Christmas decor goes up at the same time as the fall stuff. It just gives me more time to plan. Overall, hobby lobby in general is pretty great. Only leaving one star because it won't let me post with no stars. Took my diplomas to have them custom framed... wasn't my idea but I figured Hobby Lobby would do a great job. They ruined my Texas Supreme Court License certificate... After trying to tell me that my paralegal had dropped it off in the damaged condition I showed them pics of the condition it had been dropped off in and they assured me they would make it right. Luckily she had taken pictures when she was choosing a frame for me. First they offered me $18 dollars then $50 dollars and finally agreed to repair the certificate and give me the frame for free. Called them back a month later and nobody knew what was happening. They finally told me to stop by and pick it up because it was ready. I attempted to pick it up but the certificate was in the same condition and had not been repaired. They then told me they could not fix it because they may damage the seals on the certificate. We had already discussed the seals before and management as well as corporate had agreed to repair the certificate and said the seals would be ok. I told them to keep their frame and left and that I would be seeing them in court. The whole time corporate just kept telling me "you get the frame for free... what else could you ask for?" .... well I would much rather have my Texas Supreme Court License certificate in the condition it was in when It was dropped off so I could frame it myself and have it hanging on my wall in my office. Instead it's at my house waiting on me to file a law suit. I haven't had time but I will get around to it very soon. Thank you Hobby lobby ... you had one job. read more

Went to Hobby Lobby last week..What a fantastic craft store .you need 3 hours just to see everything.

If I could give zero stars I would! Please please save yourself the frustration and stay away. To start with, sale items were not properly marked or were marked in a VERY confusing way (almost to try to trick the customer). Even employees didn't know what exactly was on sale and what wasn't. So you get to the cashier expecting these sale items and nope. Other customers didn't know the price of their products either and were having to have the cashier ring everything up just for a price check. Then we get to the car and I look at the receipt and I have a double charge. So we one by one go through everything to match it up and I have a charge with nothing to show for it. By the way, the receipt is HORRIBLE and shameful! Generic numbers for everything and no specific descriptions. I have never seen this anywhere and in this day in age it's pure laziness and unacceptable. Made it so hard to match anything up or prove a double charge. So my husband goes back in and is there about 25 minutes. They looked at video footage and guessed that she didn't void something she was supposed to. They then say to bring everything back in (which was a lot) and go through it. By this point we spend an hour on it and I had a crying 1 and 3 year old so we said forget it. I called Hobby Lobby and they then called the manager. They finally agreed to give a refund if we drive 40 minutes back to the store and get it. That's so not okay! They should have honored it to begin with or refunded on my card or sent something in the mail. It was an absolutely horrible experience for all of us and we will never ever step foot in a hobby lobby again. So disgusted with our experience. Oh and that was our first time ever in a hobby lobby. This is my go-to store as it's closest to me and is by everything else I need to stop at when shopping. Great employees; the best yet. Just sometimes a bit untidy and sometimes the employees are made to organize really big displays right in the middle of the day so it get's tight. Best part is that they have two areas for cash registers and they notify you when one of those areas is customer-free and ready. read more

As in customer service does not exist in this store. Yes, you see employees around but none of them are willing to help you out.
