Terrible and rude customer service. I inquired about getting my windows of my condo soundproofed because I live on a busy street in downtown, I also mentioned that my next door neighbour was also interested in having their bedrooms done too so I scheduled an appointment for a quote for both of our places. I also mentioned that I am on the condo board and discussed a possibility of a group purchase if there are other interested residents in my building. It was all pleasant on the phone.
When a sales rep (Andre) arrived he looked at my windows and briefly explained how their product works. When he looked at my windows he had mentioned that I would need to move my window shades outwards because these storm window units need to be installed outboards of the window frame. I wasn't crazy about doing that as all of my window shades are installed tight to the bulkhead above and didn't want the messy and protruding look of the track of the shades doing that. I got a very rough quote which came out to be over $5,000 which wasn't a big deal to me by itself, but to reinstall 30 feet of my window shades to accommodate these storm windows that added more thickness to my wall and ruin the clean modern look of my condo, I wasn't too thrilled about doing that and told him that I would need to think about it.
He gave a big sigh and had the nerve to say that he normally charges to come out here to do a quote and said this was a waste of his time (this was never communicated over the phone). He didn't even stick around to look at my neighbour's windows and left in a hurry. He almost forgot his demonstration sample as he hurried out which he then walked through my home with his shoes on to retrieve it.
After re-examining my windows, these storm window panels could be installed in-board of my window frame without adding any additional depth, as there is lots of room and an additional lip which is generous enough to accommodate the extra pane, I don't know why this sales rep didn't see that. Being an architect I know about these details, but anyways this sales rep was so rude that I don't want to think about their products anymore as I was really mad and insulted by his attitude.
This was no way to treat your potential customers and this experience was really off-putting and I have no desire to even remotely reconsider Magnetite's products ever. Sounds like they don't really care about smaller projects and only care about the quick big sales, as this sales rep didn't have the patience and care to work with their customers and their concerns/questions, and because of that they lost a sale and potentially a much bigger contract. read more
