I was helping my friend who is blind shop for a dress for an event. Neither of us had ever been to Magnolia & Fig before. My first and only complaint about the place was that it was hard for me to find. It sits on the corner with a couple of other buildings and it's a very busy area and their signage was not clear to me so I passed it a couple of times before realizing exactly where it was. It wasn't immediately apparent that there was parking in the back either. Once we figured that out, it's all good from there. Magnolia & Fig provides a light and pleasant space to shop for clothing, accessories, and other knickknacks. We were greeted warmly by the attendant, and she gives us the option to browse or asked us if we were looking for something specific. Once we told her what my friend was looking for and her size, the attendant got right to work, pulling dresses for her to try from the racks. We were brought eight or 10 different dresses to try in a small but nicely decorated fitting area. The two employees worked together to bring us outfits to try, giving us space and time to try each one, but giving opinions and thoughts, when asked to. They were very kind patient and efficient. They were sensitive to the needs of my friend as related to her disability without talking down to her or making her feel out of place. It was a very positive experience and we found the perfect dress for my friend's event. In the store, you will find lots of ladies clothing options in addition to some jewelry, hats, shoes and even pretty things for the home. I think my friend paid about $150 for the gorgeous dress and the earrings that she purchased. I found this cute boutique by chance walking on Frankfort Avenue before getting some ice cream @ Retta's and it is a GEM!!!! The first time I went I didn't have a ton of time to shop; however, it just so happened to be a Sip & Shop day and you could put your name in for prizes. Well fast forward a little and I got a message that I won a $100 gift card. Yeah me! So I went back to make find some more cute things. The store is so cute. If you're a girls girl you'll love it I promise. The staff are so friendly & helpful, but, don't give off stalker vibes. I hate that!!! So thank you for giving me space. Much appreciated. It's organized perfectly. Magnolia & Fig carries some unique brands of clothing, accessories & home decor. I chose a gorgeous summer dress, two bracelets and a necklace for my daughter. They have an awesome website to shop online and offer private shopping appointments. They're open Wednesday-Sunday. Check out their sales rack as well. I saw some great deals on cute dresses. I asked the worker, who I later found out was the owner!, a wardrobe question and for neighborhood restaurant recommendations and she was very helpful... even though I didn't buy anything. This is a great shop because if you are the type of shopper who delays the shopping she needs to do (like I am), you can always find something in a pinch. The clothes range from casual (I am thinking of their Scuba line) to dressy (Derby dresses, New Year's and holiday dresses), and they do a great job of walking the line of youthful and older women. (So nobody who is 40 looks like she is trying to be 20, and no one who is 20 walks out looking like she is her own sister or mother). The owner is forthright and sweet and makes no bones about being positive about all bodies. Her staff carry themselves in the same manner. What a great neighborhood find! I finally ventured into Magnolia & Fig on Saturday, after my best friend suggested I go to buy a fascinator ahead of opening night at Churchill Downs. She had already been and had found what she was looking for. And best yet: The fascinators she saw were only $30. So I popped down Frankfort Avenue, and was greeted by the most friendly of shop workers, maybe the owners. I told them what I was looking for, and they pointed me to the only fascinator they had left, a red and black one that was perfect. It was like my Derby fairy godmother had been looking out for me! And once I had that secured, I perused the rest of the store and found so many pieces I wanted. Magnolia & Fig is a lot larger than you would imagine when passing by. It's actually two parts of the same building. And they boast a well curated selection of women's fashion, jewelry and some home goods. I also noticed that they have a wide variety of sizes. I bought a chain necklace along with the fascinator -- both at great prices! I really can't wait to go back. I'm discovering more and more great shopping in Clifton/Crescent Hill that I need to take advantage of more often. read more

Went in to look for ENewton bracelets. They had a nice selection. The owner was more than helpful and so very nice. Evidently this is the store that used to be next to secret Garden in Middletown. The only negative I can see is finding a spot to park on the road. But when I went on Saturday at 5 PM, it wasn't an issue. There is definitely something for everyone here, read more

In the area, I visited Magnolia & Fig for their 3rd birthday celebration. I had no idea it was next to the Kroger I pass weekly. Today everything in the store was 10% off - but if you check into Yelp, that deals pops up and you can save it for later. The store is full of pops of color in its clothing, outerwear, purses, shoes and jewelry. Several of the pieces are dressy and yet look comfortable to wear to the event, several are sassy but are made for the strong woman heading to the office and some expand ages. In fact I saw someone twice my age take the same dress to the fitting room and it still made sense. The only item I wanted to love more was the shoes - just a preference thing, too many pointy toes and mules, but maybe summer will bring options for me. The staff was very friendly and festive for their celebration. I appreciated all the helping hands they had available for the crowd. They grouped our clothing on a stand to keep for the fitting room and worked hard to get folks in and out. Writing the names of people on the outside of the fitting room door was a nice touch, and the pink couch for sitting is awesome. Also, I really appreciated the amount of options in XL and some beyond. Other boutiques stop at Large and when you realize it while shopping, it's almost embarrassing to stay in the store. This is a really cute boutique in the Kroger strip mall!! I have all kinds of adorable boutiques around my office, and while I am thankful for that my wallet is not. But, I have to go see them all!! Magnolia and Fig is a very cute shop, apparently the owner is the daughter of the Secret Garden owner. I am a little disheartened by other reviews saying the women here are unfriendly. Even though I've only been here once, I was immediately welcomed and was offered help so I can't say I had the same experience. They have really, really cute clothing. I love girly-styled stuff and that is exactly what they have here. The prices are moderate, around $40-$60 average retail price, which is a bit more than I would spend unless I found something I really wanted. They have a lot of awesome office attire, or semi formal wear, so this would be a great place to shop for that! read more

Yes it's their job to sell you adorable clothing & accessories, but they will be honest and tell you if something is less than flattering. Even if they like a piece on you, they want you to love it & support your comfort as well as your cuteness! I get a total ego boost every time I go, even if I don't purchase anything that trip, and they are so much fun to chat & be silly with!! Sticking with my five star review. The boutique moved next door to s larger location. Today was the soft opening. It's just adorable. The new space allows for so many more clothes along with bags, shoes and accessories. The items are displayed in such a manor that it's such an easy flow for browsing. The pieces are so unique and affordable. They have great sale racks outside on the sidewalk. Extra perks are the emailed coupons I get every month. I ask save by checking in on Yelp. I usually get a coupon every time. Living in the east end makes it hard to always go downtown for that local shop feeling. But this store is so unique you get that "not in the suburbs" vibe. The staff here are some of the kindest, most genuinely helpful and friendly folks that I've gotten to shop with in ages. It's small town charm meets big city convenience. Magnolia & Fig is an excellent local boutique, located in Middletown. They were inside The Secret Garden, but now they've expanded and moved next door. They sell very cute clothes, mostly preppy or southern style but they have a wide variety. They also carry a decent selection of plus size clothing (which they call "curvy"). Don't know about the quality but the clothes, jewelry & bags are cute. Had a 25% coupon, I used it. The reason for 2 stars is the SERVICE! The two women in the shop were not friendly. It wasn't until I spoke did anyone say anything to me. Go figure because I am the one spending my money. I told the sales lady why I was there (recent surgery), she gave no suggestions as to suitable choices. I also made a comment about returning back to work. All she said was "that is always a problem". She certainly didn't seem to care much. It did not convince me to want to buy anything else. I LOVE this shop!! Every time I walk in I want to buy everything, literally everything. Stephanie and Emily are incredibly friendly and helpful. I have a few different tops and pairs of earings that Stephanie helped me pick out that have become staples in my wardrobe. I get constant compliments on all of them. I have a hard time finding candles that I like but the paddywax she carries have become my favorite..I love that they have fresh natural scents that come in really cute dishes and tins and they are the only candles that don't bother my allergies!
