How can you not love a local store that has a flamingo chandelier for sale? I loved visiting today to check out the summer displays, fashion, and just have some window-shopping fun!

We needed a baby gift for our step grandson's new baby boy who lives in New York State. Fortunately you can find unusual gifts there for everyone. I ended up also getting a gift for my daughter who recently had a birthday. They even gift wrap for free. You can't beat that. If you truly want something out of the ordinary then you should come here.

Picked up a great gift for a friend at Work The Metal. I love that they always offer to gift wrap. They have an abundance of gift items!

Service is always impeccable at Work The Metal. It's a very large place so you can browse for a long time and enjoy yourself. No matter the season, there is always an array of holiday items, Derby accessories, gifts and so much more.

Definitely one of my new favorite shops! If you're looking for the perfect present or souvenir from Louisville, this is where you'll find it! I wasn't able to get my butt in here the last time I visited the city, so I made it a point to pop in this past week. As a former "shop girl" and visual merchandiser, the products and displays here are unique and one of a kind. Whoever the buyer is needs to keep doing what they're doing! From books, puzzles, greeting cards, toys and games... to candles, jewelry, clothing, art, and home decor... everything feels special, and I honestly can't imagine anyone leaving this store empty-handed! Do give yourself time to wander around, as this place is large and full of treasures from floor to ceiling! Everything was very clean, fully-stocked, and well-organized. If you need any assistance, the lovely ladies who work here are happy, delightful, and informative! My husband and I took a bit too long while shopping, and didn't realize they had closed! We apologized, but they were so accommodating and let me continue to look around despite the doors being locked! I ended up finding some really cool sunglasses (2 for $20!), a beautiful framed print by a local artist, a stoneware coffee mug, some handmade Kentucky bourbon balls, a puzzle, and a handful of funny BlueQ bubblegum packs. Don't hesitate to stop into Work The Metal if you're near the Butchertown neighborhood of Louisville! Once you're done browsing the store, head over to Copper & Kings Distillery for a tasting, or TEN20 Craft Brewery for a beer and a snack (they're right next door!)

Work the metal is in the Butchertown Market. There are some very unique items. I enjoyed laughing at the names for the bathroom sprays. They have a wall of socks (my husband loves fun socks). There are all kind of knick knacks here. I especially enjoyed the accessory area. Lots of beautiful jewelry and purses. The staff was extremely helpful. They provide gift boxes free of charge and this beautiful sea blueish color. Nice place to find some accessories.

First time to visit this interesting retail space in butchertown. A treasure trove of cute, practical, unique, fun, useful gifts for the kitchen, kids, women and men. You would be hard pressed not to find a cool gift here. Plenty of parking, pleasant staff, reasonable prices.

Beautiful gift wrapping

This is a must stop shop for the holidays! The staff was incredibly friendly, and they take covid precautions seriously here. Because they are limiting capacity, I had to wait in a short line to enter the shop. A staff member made sure line moved quickly and efficiently, and everyone was wearing masks and social distancing. Work the Metal was definitely worth the wait! Did I mention free gift wrapping? Their gift wrapping is beautiful with truly unique tissue paper. Mine had Santa doing yoga! Every corner you turn has unique gifts. They have something for everyone from different themed trees that you can buy ornaments off of, to all the whiskey accessories you could need, to the best selection of children's books I've ever seen. They even have a small chocolate shop and body care shop inside! The cherry on top was how friendly the staff was and how well they take care of the customers. It's rare to find such good gift wrapping as they do here, let alone for free! While I was checking out, I was even asked how my experience was by a gentleman. He really cared that I was enjoying my shopping trip. They even have multiple registers to help speed up the check out process. I can't wait to come back and see what the store is like outside of the holiday season!

Pumpkin earrings and a new bracelet all for me.

I love this place! So many fun and unique items to shop for. I really like their jewelry. So reasonably priced! They also have a wine bar where you can get $1 mimosas on Saturdays while you shop.

Work the Metal is my favorite local shop in Louisville. Period. You can find just about anything here, and awesome things that you didn't even know existed. From home decor, clothing, knick knacks, children's toys, to foods/kitchenware, Work the Metal wins. It is such a perfect place to find gifts, or to show a tourist what Louisville is all about. There are a few other shops down the halls, which kind of makes it all one big wonderland. If you go far enough in the back, you'll see that they have their own wine bar as well. Yes, you heard me right...a gift shop. with a BAR. And $1 MIMOSAS ON SATURDAYS!!! Every time I am in Butchertown now, I am going to have to make a stop here. It's just that awesome.

The store blends into other stores so I didn't realize that this store takes up most of the space of Butchertown Market.

And I had found that it once again expanded even more within the giant warehouse it occupies. It is quite easy to get lost in the maze of booths, but you're guaranteed a lot to look at along the way. Fleur de Flea is as much of an experience as it is a shopping spot. There are several midcentury modern furniture booths, as well as others selling all manner of art, jewelry, books, clothes, records, plants and more. On my most recent visit, I came away with a book of the script of a show I really love and a fun T-shirt. Fleur de Flea also sells cocktails and other drinks if you'd like to sip while you shop, and it's very pet friendly. You're likely to see a pup shopping alongside its owner, and Fleur de Flea's resident doggo can be found sitting on the counter by the cash registers. This is a spot that is becoming uniquely Louisville for me. I love it so!

Having a love of cooking and displaying your food also creates a fondness as that's what their product is all about. I'm not really their target customer and the price point is overwhelming. However, I notice their paint your own pottery room and I would consider returning for that purpose. For $35 you can select your item - cup, plate, or plaque - and use their paint to design your vision. On the wall each color is displayed for 1, 2, or 3 coats. The store is quite large and its register is in the back of the store. The clerk was helpful to answer our questions about painting. We decided painting pottery at Louisville Stoneware sounded fun. You get to pick a pottery piece off the rack, there was limited pottery availability due to the holiday holidays, but that didn't stop us! I chose a 9 inch plate and my friend picked a door hanger. The plate was $30 and door hanger $35. We were impressed by the selection of stamps and stencils. Everything we needed was avaliable to us. They had plenty of colors and paintbrushes. I can't wait to pick up our finished pieces. Tip, decide on a plan before arriving so you don't spend 45 mins like I did on Pinterest searching for ideas.
