I had a problem with the deadbolt on my door. Wasn't sure if it could be fixed or needed a new one. Called this locksmith and was able to get an appt for the next day. The technician wore a mask and was on time. The surprise came when I paid the invoice. A service call charge of $65 which I expected. What I didn't expect was a labor charge of $72.50 to troubleshoot and replace the lock. The total bill for a new lock came to $203. My expectations were that the service call would include any troubleshooting and replacing. Maybe this is how business is done now. A charge to show up and a charge to do the actual work? I paid the invoice but I will be calling another locksmith in the future. read more

I went to 3 other places looking to get my keys copied.....simple enough right? so so wrong......2 of the places didn't exist and one of them was closed, so i went back the next day and closed again even though clearly within business hours. frustrated and down to the wire with a new roomie moving in that needed a key i found magnolia park lock shop. the gentleman who helped me was extremely approachable and welcoming and had my new perfect little keys ready in a matter of a minute or 2. thank you thank you thank you, and i will definately be recommending this place to anyone with key needs. just a great overall experience for something so simple and it was totally appreciated! read more

I don't usually do many reviews, but I had to do one here since they only had the one, and it was about going into the store to have keys made. They do so much more than that. I called them yesterday morning because I needed the locks changed, right away, on a rental property of mine. These guys were great. I called, they came out when I asked them to, and even called me before they were heading to my house (just as I had asked). The service guy they sent out (Eric) was extremely knowlegable about the various locks we had (it's an old house with lots of different locks and door knobs), and was able to change them all. He changed out 10 cylinders, which I needed all keyed the same, and made me as many sets of the keys as needed. He was fast, courteous, and reliable. If you need a lock changed, and you need it done right away and done well, these are the guys to call! read more

All I could say is this shop saved my day. I was traveling from out of town and needed a key made asap. I went to another local lock shop in town and it was a complete joke. $10 minimum for card charges. So, they'll do the job, but to get keys copied for $4 will end up costing you twice as much after you have to get cash from an ATM that charges you the same amount to get cash. read more

Quality top notch in the field because I don't know anything about locks and my front door was made in the 1950s and the bolt had to be extra long unlike usual front doors. The front door of our 1940s house hasn't worked in years, thanks to vintage hardware and locks that no longer functioned. Vintage locks may sound cool but these were not. It's a new year, so time for a new start, so I called Magnolia Park Lock Shop to see if they could install new hardware for us. Phillip asked me to send pics of the existing locks and the new ones we bought, and after a few hours, he sent over Mike to do the work. Same day! Wow. I was impressed. It was a challenging job, but Mike was up for the task, making 21st century locks and hardware work on our mid-century solid wood door, despite how chewed up the frame was. Mike worked hard and problem-solved on site, allowing us to roll out the welcome mat once again through the front door. The charge: $85/hour. read more

Had a terrible experience with this company. I hired them to change all the locks in my place and I found them to be incredibly expensive in the first place, charging for every tiny thing they did, a service call fee, the lock cylinder change fee, an installation fee, you name it and there was a fee for it and yet they've had to come back several times to fix the work done by one of their now Ex-Employees. Most recently the used key they sold me, for a used lock I purchased from them, at the recommendation of their technician, broke off inside of the lock, on the back door slider, as I suspected it would when they installed it, because it felt flimsy like no other key I've used. The owner, Ara, has refused to remove the broken key, unless I pay another $220 for this. The key broke off inside the lock at its skinny point, just from me trying to lock the door. The issue was caused by the shoddy flimsy key and bad lock, which they have already had to change out once. The work of their technician who is no longer with the company was subpar and apparently they won't back it up. When I called on Friday for assistance I was told by the OWNER to call back on Monday as the owner couldn't guarantee his technicians would even get the message that I needed a locksmith unless I called Monday to remind them I needed them. Overall I have found the owner to be totally unhelpful and unconcerned about his clients impression or experience with his business. Amanda, one of the technician's, was lovely, and she did good work which hasn't needed to be repaired. Hopefully she will find work at a place where the owner will stand behind his products and services. I've already spent over $1,400 with this company and this is how I was treated. Think twice before calling this company and be sure to get a full price description ahead of the work being done including what is and isn't covered incase there's any issue with your locks after they leave your property. Our deadbolt key has been missing for years and before I made the decision to go buy a whole new deadbolt I found these awesome guys!! When I called, Rose was sweet and very helpful. Not only could she save me about $30 bucks from buying a new one, she was able to re-key my lock without the key and provide me with fresh copies! THIS COMPANY IS BY FAR THE MOST SHADIEST COMPANY I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH. I sent a pic of a lock that I needed repaired to get a quote. They never called me back to give me a quote or to set up an appointment. Hours later one of their technicians just showed up and requested that we pay them. I didn't need the lock repaired any more and honestly I don't even know what would go on in their heads to even think it's ok to show up without a confirmation or an appointment. They left a bill for $130 for showing up and for labor which they never even did. I called and spoke to the same person which I'm assuming is the owner to ask why it would be ok for them to show and bill me when the entire time he was supposed to call back with a quote before we even went ahead and place the service call. He said calling and asking for a quote is like a service call and that they didn't need to call back with the quote and requested that I pay the bill. Of course I will not be paying for something that I didn't even request. With this shady service how can people even trust you to change locks in their home?!?! read more

I had a REALLY bad experience with this place! All I needed were a few copies of keys made. So, I went here. They said that they didn't have the right kind of keys in stock to make copies, but they could order them. I told them I couldn't wait. But they said "ordering them" would only take a few hours, and my copies would be ready by the end of the workday. GREAT! Well... 5pm comes and goes and I call to get an ETA. Not only do they not give me one... they haven't even gotten my keys in stock. But they said that they would have them SOON and would call me back when they were done making my copies. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK. The next day I called back a few more times, each time asking for an update. They kept blowing me off. They kept pushing back the time they said they would have them further and further back... and not calling me back. Finally -- after over 24 hours of this place having my keys (they said originally it would be only 2 hours) I just went down there and picked up my keys. I walked down the street to the DIY store and they made me a few copies in MINUTES! (The DIY place couldn't make all of them because one of them said 'do not duplicate,' but that doesn't seem like their fault.) TD; LR -- They said it would take 2 hours. It took over 24. And eventually, I just got so fed up I went to go pick up my original keys and left empty handed in terms of copies. read more

I recently bought a place in Burbank and naturally one of the first things I decided to do was change the locks to prevent any possibility that a previous "guest" could enter easily. So, I searched and found Magnolia Park Lock Shop. I saw the bad review and hesitated, but since they were literally 2 blocks away I decided to visit them, and I'm glad I did. Turns out the complaint came from a business who's employee requested a business grade lock replacement, which is what they would have to use for a store front or risk becoming libel for anything that went wrong later on. Business grade locks are a hell of a lot more expensive. I ended up spending a little under $400. For that money I got 2 new deadbolts, 2 new door knob+locks and had a total of 5 locks keyed to the same key. One of the first knobs had an issue, and they replaced it. The door was hanging at bad angle before the locksmith arrived, and he corrected it. Pretty hard to ask for a better experience. Not the cheapest, but then again, quality rarely is, and I feel I got my money's worth given the speed and professionalism of all involved. I would quite happily recommend them to anyone needing their services. read more
