Just like everybody else who comes to this location during the summer, it's for bachelorette. When we were seated at the table, our waiter (the only reason that there is a two star) came by with a glass of champagne for our bride. We ordered a couple of appetizers and a whole bunch of pasta. Me personally, I ordered the carbonara and was very excited for it. However, once it came, it reflected more of Alfredo than a carbonara. Some would say to lower your expectations however, if I order something, I would expect it to come out that way. So the food for me did not hit at all. It's always tough to dine-in at the Blue Mountain Village: there are few options, most are full, and all are expensive. Magnone's is one of the better dining experiences available, in a nice fancy restaurant environment, but food and service can be hit or miss. The pastas are decent, average/average+ with good flavours and use of fresh ingredients and cheeses, but expensive for what you get. Carbonara was rich with a creamy sauce. The kids menu offers some basic classics (Alfredo, buttered parm pasta, or cheese pizza) at a decent price. Service can be spotty. One of our meals (of our party of 8) wasn't served with the others, with waitstaff saying "it would be another few minutes". Fifteen minutes later, it was clear that the order had been initially forgotten, when a barely-cooked, rush-order ravioli was delivered. It's still a popular place as it's hard to get a table here. In football, when a defender gets 'megged' by an offensive player, it is perceived to be a bit of an embarrassment. I don't know any Italian, but does Magnone mean getting a fast one by the customer? If you don't know what I'm talking about, keep on reading. If you end up in 'the village' at Blue Mountain, you expect to be gouged a bit, but Magnone takes it to another level. Let me preface by saying that they were being pretty transparent with the first one. Before being seated, they did mention that they will charge a gratuity of 18% for a party of 6 or more. We were forewarned before getting megged, and we willingly stepped into that one. In terms of the food, it's alright. The kid's Alfredo penne was on the heavy side. The flavour was right, but the sauce felt a bit pasty. The kid's cheese pizza was also alright. Perhaps the crust could have been a bit thinner. They overdid the sauce on the Caesar salad and the croutons were a bit stale. The tomato based pasta had a bit more acidity to it since they had plenty of capers and olives in it. The pasta had a decent texture. Not the best, but definitely not the store bought dried ones. What intrigued me about the dish originally was that it had tuna confit. I know what duck confit is, but what the heck is tuna confit? To my disappointment, it tasted like canned tuna. Did I get 'megged' by this one? It's you don't know what hit you. And finally comes the big one (the one in the edge of the penalty box) when I got the bill. Apparently, they applied a $1.25 charge for a cup of hot water. WTF??? They charge money for what? A boiling processing fee? We got megged one time too many and was totally embarrassed. The food is not bad, but I'm not sure it justifies the price even before the 'megging'. But upon leaving the restaurant, I can totally imagine the scene of a manager talking to their staff about the origin of the restaurant name, saying, "Toni, we just 'Magged' another one". You understand now why we named our restaurant Magnone? We replaced the first e with an a because we didn't want to make it too obvious. Steer clear of Magnone folks! read more

I read reviews of this being a tourist trap but when you visit blue mountain you kind of want to stay and enjoy the surroundings. It was raining and I had my dog so patio seating was limited. The lady at the reservation desk didn't suggest if we wanted to wait nor gave us any options. I asked her how long the wait would be. In that 5 minutes one opened up. If you have someone at the front maybe they should be versed in how to service people properly and give options. We were immediately seated and given a menu. Our server really made our experience better. Swelyn is a great server! He deserved the tip I left based on his service provided. If it was based on the food the restaurant would get zero. Typically Italian restaurants give complimentary bread, this one offered nothing. They even charged me for additional Parmesan cheese,talk about being cheap! The food was mediocre, and tasted like chef boyardee sauce, something I will never forget eating from my childhood. Let's be real here, any place that you'll dine IN Blue Mountain is gonna be a tourist trap. So have those expectations low! Magnone's has relatively good Google reviews, but I dunno who's writing them. Prices aren't super outrageous, food is totally shareable, so great just to get something in your stomach after driving the 2hrs out to get here. Julian, server was nice, absolutely no complaints about that! Food wasn't great tho. Between the Margherita pizza and Pasta Bolognese, the pasta was much better, but still not great. Pizza was barely cooked, definitely no wood/stone oven! Pizza was thin crust, crust was similar to an oblong shape and was floppy. I think they literally just toasted up the "crust" and slathered the uncooked sauce, cheese on top. I didn't see/taste any basil whatsoever. Sauce was not heated up in any way, shape, or form. Pappardelle faired better. It was somewhat clumped together and most of the sauce wasn't hot - I'd say room temp or colder. Food did take a while to roll out. I came here on a Saturday evening with a party of 2. We were seated immediately as they weren't too busy. To drink, we had to espresso martini and the Blood Orange Italian Soda - both were amazing. To eat, we had the Tagliere Di Formaggi (which was basically a cheese board), Primavera Pasta and the Gamberi Fra Diavolo (spicy). All the food was delicious. Service was excellent as well. Went there on Friday, June 28, 2024 around 3pm. Asked the waiter about the shared dish, whether the fish or steak is fresher and he replied meat. The steak smelled rotten so I asked the waiter to send it the chef to smell it. We were 4 people and everyone said it smelled bad. It came back saying It smells fine. the Waiter took it back however without having finished the rapini and potatoes. I thought they'd take of the bill. It is $65 on their menu. I asked to speak to the manager and she came with an attitude I never in my experience of traveling or having been myself in food industry has encountered. My family and I recently stayed in Blue Mountain Village for a 3-day getaway and decided to have Magnone's italian kitchen before we returned home the following day. We decided to place an order for takeout. We were told that the last take out order was 10:15. we called around 9:15. I placed the order, and my husband went and picked it up. When we received our food, it was not what we ordered. The meal we ordered for our daughter was something completely different than what we ordered off the kids' menu. We ordered penne with tomato sauce with a side of meatballs, and she received gnocchi Bolognese. She's only 10 and decided to try it and it was awful, she could not eat it. The sauce had a very unusual taste and even I could not eat it. The meatballs were burned, dry little to no sauce on them and again completely inedible. My husband and I ordered chicken parmigiana, while the chicken was okay, it was very bland but at least it was edible. The linguine it came with was okay, but again, the sauce, which was different from the gnocchi, was also terrible. We will not ever eat here again. I am Italian myself, and I can say what I ate was not even close to Italian food. I really was looking forward to trying the food at Magnone's, but unfortunately, it was not what I was expecting at all. I truly wish we order our last meal in Blue Mountain elsewhere. read more

This place is the worst. Told us straight up to go somewhere else if we don't like their attitude. What happened? They do not take a waitlist, so a line formed outside. My husband waited in line for 30 mins. When he finally got to the front (he texted wife and kids to come as he is next), the host came outside and told the line to leave. Host explained that they do not take a waitlist.. no one will be served for 20 mins as they are full ans asked everyone to come back in 20 mins and it is first come first serve. No one wanted to leave as they all waited 40+ mins already. The host went back inside. After 5 mins the host comes back outside and tells everyone to leave and come back in 15 mins. My husband said if it's first come first serve, he doesn't want to lose his spot and will wait 15 mins. The host said he is blocking other patrons to come in. My husband said to the host but you already said you guys are not taking anyone for 15 mins so who are we blocking and the line was not blocking the door at all. My husband told her she is contradicting herself and that's when she refused him service and told him to leave and go else where. So we got told to leave for calling out the host for not making any sense. I don't know. Reading their many low reviews on Google, seems like we dodged a bullet with their crappy food. How does that make sense? We were not blocking the entrance, we are simply waiting to be served next when you stated its first come first serve they claimed at the time, they were full, and do not have any tables, but that was not true. My family waited in line for half an hour since they didn't take reservations and by the time that we would have been next, one of the staff came out to tell the line that there was no waitlist and the leave and come back in 20 minutes when their doors would reopen. She then comes back out after 5 minutes to tell us again to leave because we were "blocking the doorway for others to come in" and they wouldn't know when a table big enough would open up (my party was only 5 people). Why are you telling us to leave then? We would've have waited the next 15 minutes to see if tables had opened up. If there was a table for two and there so happens to be a party of two in the "line" then it would have been easy enough to pop out to ask. It's was also a cold and windy winter night! The very least would have been to let us figure out what we were going to have for dinner rather than coming back outside with such a rude tone telling us to leave and contradicting her reasoning the first time. After she came out the second time, the way she spoke to us made us not even want to considering eating there anymore. We were clearly frustrated with the situation and after calling her out on it, she told us to "go somewhere else." For a restaurant in a resort with so many people coming in and out, it's disappointing to see how rude a host could be. Going into this, I went here for a company dinner so I did not pay for my meal. On a positive note, the cocktails here are pretty good. I had a couple different ones and the presentation and taste is above average. I enjoyed them a lot. A good indicator is that they make their Old Fashioned close to the standard recipe and not some fruity/too sweet version of their own. My coworkers had a few of the martinis/fruitier cocktails and said they were happy with them. Also the service was pretty good - the servers were usually around helping out/taking orders for drinks and cleaning up empty plates quickly. As for the food, the only thing I really enjoyed were the fries with garlic aioli - then again who doesn't like fries? They were hot, fried and well seasoned. I had the goat cheese and arugula salad, which was disappointing. There wasn't much dressing on it, it was like eating dry plain arugula with sprinkles of goat cheese on it. I also got to try the caesar salad, which was ok - maybe a bit too much dressing. The mains took a while to get to our tables. Someone ordered the "charity bread" item on the menu to help fill them up, as everyone was having a couple drinks. It looked like a toasted ciabatta bun you get at Costco with a side of olive oil and vinegar. It was like $7 or something.... don't ever order this. For an entree, I got their chicken parmesan which comes on a bed of pasta made with "in house tomato sauce". The chicken was ok, pretty generic breaded and fried chicken with cheese on it. But the real disappointment was the pasta. The pasta itself wasn't overcooked or undercooked - it was a good consistency. The problem is the sauce, there is zero taste to it. It was like someone crushed up 1 tomato for a box of spaghetti, then gave it a quick rinse of water. It wasn't worth the calories and carbs. A lot of people at my dinner that ordered it also had the same verdict - it was tasteless. For being the "go to" italian place in the village, this was not as good as I was expecting. There were a lot of shortcomings from simple things like the salad and giving the pasta flavor(come on!). I would not likely come here on my own for the food. read more

My friends and I went up to Blue Mountain to snowboard over the winter holidays and there are so many restaurant selections up in the village. Magnone's Italian Kitchen is definitely a must try. They serve amazing Italian dishes from pizzas to pastas. Our group of hungry snowboarders were craving pasta and we each got different dishes. We got carbonara, gamberi fra diavolo, penne salsiccia and pappardelle alfredo. I got their gamberi fra diavolo which is a linguine pasta with shrimp, charred cherry tomatoes, and burrata, covered with a pesto and spicy rose sauce. The portion of the pasta was perfect, not too big or too small. I loved how saucy my pasta was and the spice was rather mild. The charred cherry tomatoes definitely adds a pop of flavour and acidity to the pasta. My fiancé got the carbonara and it was very delicious. It was very creamy and the pasta was cooked to al denté. Overall, this Italian Kitchen restaurant had really delicious food. I personally thought that the food was a little bit pricer than expected and the service was a little slow. I know I should've checked yelp first for some "guidance" or at least a warning whatsoever but I was too hungry to even do that. We had calamari for starters then I had the fettuccine alfredo with chicken and shrimp and I forgot what my brother and mama ordered. I also ordered chardonnay because it was a very hot day outside and I wanted something nice to drink! And if I'm being honest, the only thing I enjoyed was my drink. A waitress approaches us only after later arrivals were already served. She told us their pizza oven was broken and half of the menu were wine! There were barely any selection. We both got the pollo pesto which was what the waitress recommended. The wait wasn't too bad, however the portions were tiny. I finished my plate because I was hungry, however the pasta was very dry. My friend barely ate her pasta. The bill came down to $60.14 after tax and mandatory tip of 18%. For the food and service we got, this was robbery. This restaurant is tied with Kikaku Sushi Bar as the worst in Blue Mountain. If you want to dine at Blue Mountain, go to Firehall Pizza or Tholos instead. Alright, I went in with no expectations. This was the only place that had no wait time. That made me curious and Yelp reviewers were not exactly star struck previously. The pizza a Salsicca Piccante Italiano, with sausage / gorgonzola / caramelized onion was not bad at all. Not the greatest but pretty decent akin to pub fare. The prosciutto pizza again decent. Nothing to write home but good enough. The penne albiet was terrible. Way too over done. Taking the wrong meaning of Al dente here. Has to have a bite not be over done so we barely able to chew. Roasted tomato soup again too much cream, and somehow felt the tomatoes needed to be worked on more. The tiramisu desert was pretty good! Go for the drinks! read more
