Doors opened at 7PM. Open mic itself was supposed to start at 7:30PM but actually started a bit over 10 minutes late. Not complaining! I liked the feel of this place. Very laid back. Crowd was awesome and had good energy like the performers. The waitresses were very attentive in asking if we ever wanted to put in more orders. Very easy people to talk to. The food quality itself is what you'd expect. Chicken tenders & fries 6/10: I wish the chicken tenders came out hotter and more crispy. But that could just be me liking my tenders a tad burnt. I know that's not everyone's cup of tea. Fries were decent! They were hot. I didn't think they were soft. I found them to be seasoned well. Chocolate cake 4/10: You could probably find a better chocolate cake from Costco. I found the cake portion to be really soft in an odd way. If you're craving chocolate, maybe look elsewhere. What the F*ck Drink 8/10: I actually really liked this drink. I think it was properly balanced and it got me tipsy. Overall, I was here for the entertainment. Great spot to watch a comedy show. First time here and was a bit confused about how to enter. Turns out you have to wait out front and wait for the previous show to let out. Wish there were some signs that explained this better. Went around the corner to the bar and they were not very helpful in explaining that either. I came back for a not completely sold out show, which was a different experience than when the room is jam packed. I was able to walk right in and be seated easily. Although there wasnt a huge crowd, I still had to wait quite a bit of time for my order to be taken. I arrived early to order and be serviced so I wouldn't interfere with my own experience, but I still didnt get my food until the headliner was already on stage and well into her set. read more

Went to a show solo, on a Thursday, and it was a vibe. They had a great comedian that added a late night show and it was well worth the money and drive. I had a great time at Magooby's Joke House for the Sam Jay show. The check-in and seating process is very well organized, and our VIP tickets definitely got us front row seats - so, that was much appreciated. The drinks and food service from the tables was very smooth. I ordered the 'What the F**k?' Cocktail, and will say - it was very watered down. My husband and I both struggled to taste the coconut rum and peach schnapps that was meant to have been in it. But overall, we had a great time. I used to love this place. But after getting my food/drinks one hour after placing the order, it truly ruins the experience. This is the second time within a year this has happened. One time, ok it's an accident, things happen. But 2, it's the climate of the venue. Sold out shows, you're packed in like sardines. The waitstaff can barely get through, and it's so dark as you're being seated, every guest was using their phones to help light the way. Like what are we doing? That's going to be a safety liability. Parking was nice and easy and besides the dark void, seating was quick. And the performers deserve better. It's a great venue but small missteps add up and ruin the experience. read more

Place still rules. I haven't been there in quite some time but it hasn't lost its touch. Nothing like sipping on a cocktail called "Take My Wife" while laughing my ass off at my favorite comedy club with my girlfriend. All of the drink names are quite creative. from 'Nipple Clamps' to simply 'What the F***,' it's kinda fun ordering them by name. We arrived a bit late, but were seated quickly. They also allowed someone who was *really* late in, which is very cool of them. They have an extremely good taste in comics and tend to pull a lot of NYC/Philly underground acts. You can also hang with them after the show most of the time. Only issue is the bathroom. The men's room only has 3 urinals and 1 stall, so be prepared for a long line after the show at this ~300 seater. The food is solid, not mind-blowing but the mozzarella sticks we had hit the spot. I highly recommend the chocolate cake; it's some of the best I've ever had. I order it every time, and it's always heaven. There is a two-item minimum, but you can get food or drink instead of the typical 2 *drink* minimum other clubs offer which I appreciate. Pro tip: The bar does half off drinks after the show ends. I love this place; I always have a great time and hope to go again soon. read more

We had a smooth experience all the way from parking through table service. We got VIP tickets, and arrived ahead of the "doors open" to line up, and ended up getting a great table right in the front. The two item minimum is per person, vice table. It is still easy, and they make rounds to check in on you. Our server was very friendly, and answered our first timer questions. My husband and I were looking for a date night spot and decided to give Magooby's a try. I didn't realize the lobby is tiny so you have to wait outside for the doors to open (wish I had worn a heavier coat!). Once you get inside the staff seat you, but you're packed in a bit like sardines. I felt on top of the people behind and next to us. They also do a 2 item minimum so I went with a bottle of water and the hummus plate. The food was not great, so that should definitely be revamped. I've yet to actually go to a show, so this review is purely based on their ticketing service...I got tix to an upcoming show, and last minute couldn't go, but the ticketing service they use has no way of transferring tickets to say a family member or friend etc. And when I inquired about this to the club, their response was I would have needed to buy their extra ticket coverage, which would have credited me for a future show. So Ticketmaster and others are for obvious reasons pretty awful, but they at least allow one to transfer tickets without making one pay for the extra ticket coverage. read more

My husband surprised me w.tickets for a date night, to see a specific comedian we had been following- my initial reaction was both pro & con- pro: I love comedy shows! con: ugh, the two item min while pregnant was awful, as they didn't offer many great looking alternative options to booze (the bar food all sounded meh-and was overprized for portions-and there were very limited non-alcoholic drink options-no diet, no non-caffeine) Upon arriving, they have their own parking lot-with ample spaces-so no stress there & the check-in process was very easy; they had our name in their system, we didn't need our online tickets. A short wait, and an usher brought us to randomized seating (a first come first seated system, but this doesn't mean front row stage back, it was more-so making sure the theater was evenly filled out-spreading people throughout as they arrive-so arriving early doesn't guarantee closeness). They also prefer to have couples sit vertical parallel to each other (i.e me in front and my husband's seat behind me) instead of side by side (i.e booth style)-and another pair will be seated at the same table, also vertical parallel-which was a bit annoying because to talk to him I had to keep turning around versus just another couple being seated behind us, which would have been more comfortable The other randomized system seemed to be taking orders- with the two item requirement we knew we would definitely not be missed, but it was a decent hour before a waitress took our order, though nearly all the tables immediately adjacent to us were taken right away-then she just headed to the back tables- Before order, I asked about some dishes- how many chicken wings, caffeine & diet options for soda, size of coffee & creamer availability- we opted for: Smokehouse Burger: decent sized burger, topped w.onion ring, bbq sauce, lettuce, tomato, onion, cheese w.chips- $16- nothing special, but not awful-wasn't juicy, delicious, well-seasoned yum, but it was edible, and a decent size for the price- loaded with condiments-edible 2 orders Chicken Wings (buffalo & old bay)-welp, the waitress claimed the baskets came with 8 wings, which seemed reasonable for the price $16- however the baskets actually only had 6 tiny, over seasoned, over cooked wings- very disappointing. Way over sauced, the basket appeared to have more wings within than it did. They tasted as if clearly a mass-order popular item the kitchen makes large batches & just has them sitting under heat lamps waiting for each table's order- some wings were so over cooked crunchy the skin dissolved-reminding me of the sad turkey poof scene from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation- go for the chicken tenders- seeing our table buddy's order-while also a smaller basket ($14 for 3 tenders & fries) they at least didn't appear to be overcooked & painfully dry Cheesecake-husband said it was a decent slice- creamy, resembling taste of an average storebought and thawed to-go slice ($8) Venue was just a large open warehouse with tiered seats-not overly comfy-reminded me of old community center basement events- but not bad ambiance, all seats seemed to be fine for viewing & hearing- clean bathrooms Overall, I would say I would return to Magooby's if there was a specific comedian I wanted to see, but only when I'm able to drink-as they didn't have a half-bad beer list (granted they will be overpriced drinks, but rather over priced good beer than overpriced meh tasting food)- the cocktails at $13 all looked very small & very iced down- would skip those. read more

I cant believe this was my first time here! not at my big age. Incredulousness aside i enjoyed this venue. I like the tiered seating you could see from any seat in the house and didnt feel all up on people. Feels like the perfect size. I swore Janelle James looked me directly in my eye more than once! the food was mid but we arent there for gourmet cuisine. Im knocking a star off because the drink prices were ridiculous. I paid $150 for 4 double Tequila and seltzers. In real life thats the same price of 3 750ml bottles of Casamigos. Stop playing in my face Magoobys also your servers know the timing of the show im sure I got the last drink with 7 minutes left in the show so thats $70 left on the table. But out side of that had a great time and will make sure I look out for other fun shows read more

This was my first experience going to a comedy club. It was not as good as I had hoped. This particular event was just not for me, but the audience did seem to enjoy the evening. My issue was that I could not understand the main comedian one bit. I felt like I was the only one that didn't get his jokes. I needed subtitles. His accent combined with broken English was just too difficult for me to follow, and that really ruined my evening. I am sure he was funny as the crowd (who could understand him) had many laughs, and the comedian was very smooth with his delivery. The food was okay. We had fries and cheese sticks. Both were hot and tasty. The price was probably on par with any other place. They did charge us for condiments that we never received, but it wasn't much, so whatever. Service was okay as well. The event was busy, so service was a little slow, but not really that bad considering the crowd. I've definitely had worse. The tables were very close together. They didn't fill all the tables, and they did put a stranger at our table. They could have spaced the tables further apart and perhaps use the entire back row of empty tables. I had no room to get up if I needed to go. They did have a minimum purchase requirement as well as buying the tickets. In my opinion, it was a waste of my time and approximately $150. read more

This is my first comedy show at Magooby's Joke House, it will not be my last. We were there to see Huggy Lowdown, Chris Paul, and Sugar Bear and E.U. I was a little nervous about the seating because the show was general admission, unless you purchased VIP seats. After we arrived and checked in, we were seated in the second tier. We had an awesome view. The menu was on the table, so we took a look at it so that we could met the minimum purchase per person requirement. We ordered the chicken fingers with fries basket, cheese quesadilla, an Arnold Palmer and a Drunken Golfer cocktail. The food was actually really good. It could have been hotter. The cocktail was okay, but I could barely taste the alcohol. Later I asked if they had wine, because it wasn't on the menu. Went to my first show at this venue this summer. It's setup like most comedy show venues with online and in-person ticket purchases. They also have the typical line starting outside with a first come-first serve seating policy. This experience comes with a 2 item minimum which is also pretty standard. What wasn't so standard was how many people they attempt to squeeze inside to make money. The other reviewers are accurate in saying it's ridiculous. Tables adequate for 2 are being sold to 4. Comedy shows are laugh out loud fun but it's too close and too small to share with other people. Wish the building was larger or the seating wasn't so cramped. Great venue. On the night we went, the headliner had a medical emergency and could not perform. Management provided everyone with vickers that can be used for the rescheduled show, or you could get a refund if the new date doesn't fit your schedule. I think that is how most people would expect the venue to respond. The bonus was that we still got a full show because the openers agree to perform and they were really good. They didn't have to since they were already reimbursing the crowd. They've earned a repeat customer. read more

Had an amazing night watching Steven Ho! He was hilarious! The staff on the other hand were rude! Very pushy. Our server forgot our drinks! Twice! The bathrooms were disgusting. One stall actually had some poop on the back of the toilet! Also needs to be updated. The food was expensive with small portions and not that good! The fries were the only thing that tasted good. Sodas were $5 and were in small cups! Alcoholic drinks were $11 and in the same small cups. The tables in the room were so close together you could barely move if you were getting up to go to the bathroom. You do have to buy 2 items off the menu as well. Which is kind of ridiculous. The "Jumbo" Shrimp look like they came frozen from a box and were NOT jumbo! The wings were supposed to be "Jumbo" as welland they were just small wings that were overcpoked and very dry. First off, I think some reviewers may not make allowances for time of attendance, staffing level, and what it takes to serve a large group of people in this setting. Having worked as a food waitress, cocktail waitress, bartender and banquet server - I can see all of those and make a more ... informed ... opinion. Also having said THAT, I will be mindful but not cowed by how the owner has responded nastily to others who expressed their honest opinions. So. Parking is ample and free. Check-in was super easy. I get what some complained about with the seating, and tbh I was on the floor level so I don't know how the upper level worked. But with cabaret tables, there really is no other way to seat people without some being "behind" others. There were four of us and so in order to see the stage, our chairs couldn't be around the table. The wait for a server was no longer than any decent restaurant I've been to for a while. We ordered our drinks and foods at the same time. I didn't time the wait, but I feel it was very reasonable, same as at a decent restaurant. Similarly, the wait for the food itself was about at the outside of what I think reasonable. My chicken quesadilla was only warm, but there was enough chicken and although I tend to want way more cheese than usual, tasty. I snitched a couple of fries from DD's basket and they were fine. She didn't finish her Monte Cristo sandwich but the two bites I stole were OK. I can't recall what the other two in our party had but both said they were good. Our friend had a cocktail and said it was tasty; SIL had one, which I tried a sip of, and it was good if you like sweet, fruity drinks ;) I had a bottled water and DD a seltzer, no way to go wrong there. I did not pay for any of this so I can't tell you about the cost. The menu is online, though, so the difference probably will be the cost of the headliner. I'm not reviewing the show itself because that part is not dependent on the venue. Except I LOVE BEN BRAINARD!!! His opener, Zach Bennett, was very good. In all, a great comedy show experience. Been coming to Magooby's for yearssss. Great place for a good laugh. In comparison to the comedy factory or club, whatever it is downtown, this place is much better. The food used to be really really good but of course post pandemic prices have gone up and quality has gone down. But the website doesn't reflect the updated menu or prices lol. I would say for the price of the meals the fries could be better. Horrible pre frozen crinkle cut fries with my shrimp. Also, I don't know why they serve burgers and chips ($15+) with $2 upgrade for fries. Who wants chips with burgers. Just a money gimmick. Drinks were good. Drink fast though.... that ice melts so fast it becomes watery quick. I would still come back regardless but eat prior to coming. Get there early for the good comedians or you'll be sitting at the top where it's too dark to see your food or drinks. read more

You're here to see a comedy show, so you're more or less stuck with the place. Even so, this place is terrible. The food is microwaved and comes out cold, the service is hit or miss (whether you get your entire order is not assured), and the building itself is depressing (the bathrooms are small and not kept up). The two item minimum is tough because there's nothing on their menu worth getting. I'd recommend 2 pepsis for $12 and eat at home. read more

The food is standard bar fare nothing to really write home about. Just a heads up they do have a 2 drink minimum even after you pay for tickets, now onto the important things, the service was great in my opinion. Our server was a very pleasant young lady who was all smiles and ready to answer any question we had. Now the bad thing is that they all come out and take orders at the same time so the kitchen is flooded with orders so it might take a minute to get what you ordered. The club itself is ok the one thing I didn't like is that they have tables of four chairs and a few long tables with like ten chairs and they are so close that if someone had Covid the flu the crabs or a sexual transmitted disease you would surely catch it. We go here often, this eve at the end of the show, despite only being advised no flash photography or video, I had my phone open, literally 2 minutes to the end, I got scolded about not taking pics or video, well I wasn't but I could take no flash photos per their advisement. 2 times before I was told I could not interact with the talent despite the talent engaging with me, not really sure how that was my fault. Makes me feel stressed going there, what am I going to do to be reprimanded next time to clarify to the business owners response I was not video taping nor taking pictures my phone was only in my hand. They have gotten really ridiculous with their cost. At least provide 10 shrimp. Steamed shrimp anywhere is maybe 10 to 15 dollars. Frozen breaded then fried shrimp for 15.00 that's insane. Two item minimum just going to get 3.00 bottled water for now on. To expensive for that kind of venue it's not Laugh Factory. Over charged me 10.00 for an 8.00 mixed drink as well. read more

For clarification, since you clearly missed the rest of what I said, this review isn't about the performance at all, it's about the late start, the slow and inattentive service, and the food that was just okay. But you ignored all of that and hyperfixated the one fragment of a sentence about the onion on the crumbly burger. Additionally, I brought up the fork because I ASKED FOR ONE, not because I expected it to come with a burger automatically. Learn how to take constructive criticism and improve your customer experience instead of dismissing their concerns.
