I like their indoor range. Great lightening. probably because of the distance from town less people, however for me that's a great thing...(although I always see the range in use and they do have reservations booked on a regular basis. Employees have always been pleasant and helpful. read more

I came in to purchase ammo (.357 mag) after calling them to verify that they had it in stock. I was told over the phone that they limit to one box per person. Okay fine. I brought in my wife and two sons (16 and 18) and then he asked how many of us were over 18. I said 3. He said he could only sell us 3 boxes. Then he said actually it's 21. I'll only sell you two. He gave us some BS story about not being able to sell handgun ammo to anyone under 21. Which even if that were true (which it is not), I'm 40. If the guy didn't want to sell me ammo they should have told me on the phone instead of changing their story twice after I already drove the whole way there. Plus he was a big jerk about it. Just drive the rest of the way to Albuquerque. Hopefully these guys will go out of business soon. read more

To start off, they have billboards on the freeway claiming they are the cheapest in the state, this is very far from the truth. Their 9 mm ammo is $.90 a round. Only the desperate should buy from them. Price gouging is real here. Employee was extremely rude. He told me there's no way I'll get it cheaper anywhere else. read more

So i'm visiting from California and passed by the shop to check it out and i was on my way home after and about an hour and a half away from the gun shop i noticed my wallets missing. I freaked out looked everywhere and thought it was gone. i called the gun shop to see by chance they've seen it. And yes, they saw it and sent it back to me all the way back to California. This gun shop gives me me family vibes and the people who work there are just so genuine and honest people. I recommend coming here any day. read more

My rating for Mag's would be so much better if not for the guy who decided to show me how to use the guns I rented one day with my gf. His attitude screamed "I'm a tool!" and suffice it to say he was arrogant, impatient, rude, and seemed irritated the whole time. That being said, their prices were.. alright.. and the selection of guns and ammo was decent (though some would consider it small)/overall satisfactory. The facility itself is actually quite nice, and the rest of the staff was just fine when it came to customer service. But again, that one dude just ruined it for me. We actually went for my birthday but luckily this guy wasn't important enough in my life or day to ruin the celebration, lol. If they cared more and got an all-awesome staff, they'd probably be looking at more like a 4-5 star rating, but contrary to what some silly people say, staff (aka the representatives of the business) need to be great with the customers. Mags Indoor Shooting opened just a few months ago. It's a bit of a drive, but it's a great facility and I wish them well. This is especially true since they are currently one of only two indoor ranges within a hundred miles. Pros: - relatively inexpensive daily range fees, and competitive prices for annual memberships. - great line-up of instructors and classes. - excellent quality range stalls, target frames and backstops. - quiet range ventilation --- even though it's quiet, it's clearly well ventilated. - decent collection of rental firearms. Cons: - It is in a tiny town, far from the nearest big city --- a thirty to forty-five minute drive from Albuquerque, depending on where you start. - Limited hours: they're normally open 9-6 M-Sat, and 10-5 Sun. The cons are outweighed by the pros. I highly recommend this facility. It's worth the drive. read more

Let me start off by saying that if I could give Mags no stars rating I would! On multiple occasions I have tried to embrace a different range(Mags) than the very popular one in albuquerque. But very time I have to deal with the staff at Mags I leave with the same thought I had the last time, I will never be coming back to Mags ever again! The staff is rude and talks to their customers like children. People you don't have to put up with that kind of treatment. The range is small and the store does not have a very good selection of anything, it seems thrown together. From what I was told you may not use ammo that you buy yourself, because Mags backstop is a steel plate and you might damage it. This to me seems more like a ploy to get the customers to buy Mags over price ammo, as well as a design flaw in the Mags operation. For an extra 3 dollars at the range in albuquerque you get a top of the line large facilities with years of customer experience behind them. And use whatever ammo you bring or that you want to buy. In these times a company that decides to cut corners or try and screw the American people to make themselves a buck, are not going to be in business for much longer. I hope this helps in your choice making, and remember your are the customer you have the power, do not put up with sub standard service. read more

I have been shooting at Mag's since shortly after they opened. I have always been treated with respect, regardless of who I interacted with. I have never heard anyone talking bad to customers. The range is clean and equipment is in good order. I have always shot my own ammunition including my .44 mag without any issues. If they are restricting certain ammunition they have their reasons and right to. If you are renting a weapon I would think they would be required to go through the operation of theweapon with you. If you know how to operate it why aren't you shooting yours. They have no idea of you knowledge level. read more

Took my CCW training here. The facility is excellent. The range is well designed, lighted, and ventilated. The staff is knowledgable, helpful, and friendly. The shop is well stocked, and the contracted firearms instructors are the best in the area. We got a groupon for Mags, otherwise we probably wouldn't have driven out to Moriarty, and discovered this little treasure. First off, Bob was super nice and helpful. ..and let me tell you, as a woman I'm used to being ignored or treated like poo on a shoe in gun shops, so it was extra nice to be greeted by such friendly staff. The retail area was clean and well organized; good quality products...definitely quality over quantity. Our groupon included a 9mm rental, they had 3 to chose from; we took a glock and smithy...other calibers are available, i believe. Rentals were quality pieces...we also brought our own pistols spent a couple hours killing zombies (they have several target designs to chose from) The range itself was clean, well lit, and modern. They've got 2, 5 lane ranges...which is much quieter and less chaotic than larger ranges. They have several classes, including a concealed carry class that includes everything except the actual license for $125. The drive is definitely worth it to this little gem for a morning of fun! read more

I've been to plenty of indoor shooting ranges from calibers in abq to strykers in Las cruces. Mags in my opinion is just as good if not better then any of the other indoor ranges in the state. I've never had an issue with any employees and have always been treated fairly. Looking at some of the negative reviews I couldn't disagree more. Some ranges are very strict and can come off as maybe a little rude but understand you are working with firearms and there is no room for error. I've seen plenty of new shooter, including friends and family I take, with bad habits like not keeping the gun down range or poor trigger discipline. Another thing that I found wrong was the comment of mags forcing you to use their ammo. This is somewhat incorrect. I've always used my own ammo that I purchased including blazer brass, federal, hornady, and Remington. Never have I had a problem as long as its brass and not steel case. That is the norm at any shooting range. Now if you rent a firearm that is when they do require you to use only their ammo. This I can understand because what if your using reloads and damage the firearm. The reason I give them 4 stars is their price on other things besides the range. My friend purchased a pistol from them that we found later that day in abq to be about $75 cheaper. Also their transfer fees are a little excessive. If your just looking for a place to shoot I would definitely recommend mags. read more

I live in Edgewood so Mags is close. The facility is nice. Good lanes staff is usually pretty good. The only problem I have ever had was last year during the winter 3 of us went and the lanes were so cold you could see your breath, a heavy coat was required and several times we had to stop and go to the lobby to warm up. I asked a staff member what was the reason for no heat and he gave me some b s story about venting out the gun smoke, ( I think the heaters were not working ) I have been there on other winter days and the lanes were fine. ( no coat needed and couldn't see your breath ) Guns for sale are a bit on the pricy side. I will use there facility as long as they keep lane prices where they are now. read more
