We ordered take out from Maharajah and it was just ok. There was no option to select the the spice level, so I assumed we'd be in for something on the spicier side, however the Chicken Tikka Masala was really pretty bland. I don't think it has to be spicy to be flavorful, this was just plain boring. I could taste a hint of spices, but that's it. Our daughter had the Aloo Gobi, which was more flavorful. I too was really excited that there was a new non-chain restaurant so close to my place. I went here a few weeks back, with one of my girlfriends from India. We both thought it was just ok. We thought 'Restaurant and Bar' meant that they would sell alcohol, but it appears to be BYOB. Normally a GREAT thing but not when you're not prepared! Also, they argued with me about whether we *really* wanted it spicy spicy and we assured the waiter we did, but our food still wasn't that spicy (we shared a dish). I have been here a handful of times and have even been to weddings with the food catered from here. Every experience has been so great. I love their samosa and pakora a lot. Along with their butter chicken and naan! even their veggie items are delicious - Daal, palak paneer, and malai koftha! They have the perfect heat to all their meals.... and I love that. At last, an Indian Restaurant near my house in the land of chains. Can you say flavor? A missing ingredient in many plano chain restaurants. On a Wednesday night it was kinda slow, so I hope you guys make your way here. The Samosa trio (chicken, lamb, vegetable) was flavorful and perfectly fried. No greasy taste with the Samosa. Garlic naan was nicely charred, but seemed to be light on the garlic. Still tasty. For about $10 you get good renditions of all the North Indian standards such as Chicken Tikka Masala, Seekh Kebab (these are made with ground chicken), Saag Paneer, tandoori chicken, etc. Gravy from the goat curry was quite tasty. There was plenty of other items I didn't even get to try. The naan is really very good here especially when right out of the oven. It's slightly crisp exterior with warm fluffy interior is just perfect for sopping up the tasty curries and vegetables. Service was friendly and they worked with us in getting our large party seated even though we didn't call ahead. They were good about clearing plates and even bringing fresh naan to our table when the buffet line ran out. It is BYOB here but there is a c-store very close by. I picked up a cold sixer of Boulevard Brewing's unfiltered wheat and it went great with the food here! I've only been here for lunch, so I don't know what their dinner menu and service is like. I would say that this is a very safe choice for an Indian buffet in Plano. For buffets, my standards are a little more relaxed v. that of a full service wait staff. My water glass was refilled as soon as it hit the half way mark. My plate was always promptly removed from the table I got up. My silverware was replaced every time I left the table. Most all the dishes were clean and so were the tablecloths. The choices for lunch were a little small v. what you would find in Richardson, like at Pasand. They had most of the classics, though. I filled up on the saag paneer and tandori chicken. You can tell that they just heated it in microwave . The food had no flavor. The funny thing is that they have a Picture of Hindu God Krishna and they r serving beef right under it.... Good, clean, plentiful Indian buffet. I believe it's M-F buffet for lunch and Sunday evenings (maybe even all day Sunday)? I will say, if you go on an off hour, the pakora and naan can be a little stale. I heard the waitress tell someone that if they want fresh naan, they'd be glad to make some... so that's good to know. The chicken tikka masala is good in terms of the amount and quality of the chicken and sauce, but, it lacks in flavor a bit when compared to other ones I've had elsewhere. They had a dish there last night that I loved, but can't remember the name even though I looked twice, ha. C'mon, it's Indian... not easy to pronounce and remember... started with a B though! ;) It didn't have meat, but it was mostly peas in this thick, brown stew-like sauce. Flavor was awesome! There's always a variety of options, but the consistent ones are tikka masala, tandoori chicken, saag paneer, vegetable pakora (they had fish ones too last night), and samosas... plus other options that day. Last night I saw an onion and okra dish, as well as an almond milk chicken type of dish. They also have salad and dessert options in the buffet. For $10, it's a great deal and you will leave stuffed beyond belief! Friendly staff, clean dining and buffet area, lots of parking in the lot out front. It's a few doors down from Densetsu sushi, if that helps you. I was told by a native Indian that this place is "Americanized". We have been coming to this restaurant since the first week it opened last year. It is always very clean, the people working there, I think they may be the owners because it's always the same people, are very friendly and nice. The food is very good if not knock your socks off great. Consistent, good quality ingredients, not too spicy, but very well seasoned and tasty. Neither one of us knew what to order, so we let the waitress surprise us. My mom had Lamb and I had a chicken dish. Both, were perfect. One of my new favorite is the jalapeño dip that she brought before our meal. Maharaja restaurant is a must! They have a buffer at lunch and Sundays and I can't wait to come try out everything. I highly recommend Maharaja for the weekday lunch Buffet. At $7.95 the weekday lunch buffet is a bargain. I ordered hot Indian tea which was only $1.50 extra and included free refills. $13 with tip is an excellent bargain for the buffet, water , naan bread (free with buffet as well), extra cost drink (hot tea),sales taxes and excellent service. The buffet was not overwhelming in choices but sensible in size, dish selection and variety. As such most items on the buffet were of the same outstanding quality. The only item I'm excluding, and the reason this review is not 5 stars, is the quality of the desert puddings. For desert a mango compote as well as a rice pudding were offered. The desert offerings were bitter tasting & an afterthought to what overall is a fine presentation. I enjoy going to buffets that are sensible in size. Some buffet restaurants try to load everything on their serving tables & the quality suffers. Majaraja buffet selections are very well prepared & outstanding quality. The buffet included a salad bar & a selection of hot and cold dishes. The dishes were a variety of traditional Indian vegetarian & non-vegetarian dishes. A surprise was the beef tandoori. I'm not used to seeing beef available in an Indian restaurant. The beef was excellent & is recommended. Maharaja advertises other more extensive buffets on weekends / weekend dinners. The weekend buffets are slightly more expensive. I'm intrigued by what might be offered & will be trying a weekend buffet meal soon. read more

Order was wrong, gave me chicken instead of paneer tikka wrap. The paneer makhani was mild not medium spicy as stated while orderin on uber eats, qty of soup was less based on price. Not enough dahi bhalla just more youghurt then dumplings, naan was rubbery,. I will be going there to eat and order again. I highly not recommend this place. Rather pay extra and get what you paid for. I was ripped off. When paneer tikka was ordered to correct the order again owner said he will deliver again.
