Today was my first time seeing Mai and she is so sweet and great at what she does. The building can be a little bit suspect, but she is pretty responsive via cell phone. As soon as I notified her that I was downstairs, she acknowledged and came down to get me in less than 5 minutes. The service was quick and pretty much painless. Her work space is small, but calming and welcoming with all of the plants and peaceful music. What's even better is the location is easily accessible via public transportation. This is a long overdue review for years of exceptional service. Mai is the absolute best in hair removal. Particularly, Brazilian wax, which is the service she's done for me throughout the years. Mai makes what is an uncomfortable experience enjoyable and painless. She is extremely detailed, taking the extra care to get every last hair and I appreciate her so much for being patient, calm and quick at her craft. Brazilian wax treatments can be painful and uncomfortable, but not with Mai. She gets the job done in lightning speed and with great conversation along the way. 5/5-I found this place super last minute for an underarm wax before a weekend event. The place is a little hidden away and note that you do have to ring a number to get up, but Mai is super helpful over text and will help you find the place. The whole appointment was quick, efficient, and enjoyable- never thought I'd ever say that about waxing. I love that Mai takes the extra care to tweeze and also make conversation with you. I found out that she was originally from Japan and has been doing waxing for around 20 years! I had been on a search for a technician I can go to consistently for quite a while now and I am so thrilled to have found Mai! I have very sensitive skin that actually ended up bleeding at a few other wax locations I've tried, but I did not have any problems after a session with Mai. The workshop is very clean and comfortable, with warming sunlight and generous number of planters scattered about the room that instantly made me feel welcomed. Mai herself was very professional but easy-going and super personable. She is attentive to detail but swift in her movements. I did not feel like she was trying to rush through the work one bit. I think this is as pleasant as a waxing experience can honestly get! I was so happy after my session with Mai that I left smiling (what was this, a date?). Although this is a new business, I've been seeing Mai for my waxing for years in her previous location - she does an awesome job, super professional, and bonus - she is a great conversationalist! I am so happy that she has moved into her own new space - and it's a super convenient location just steps from Union Sq and Powell BART. I basically walked in looking like an overgrown jungle swamp monster and I came out clean on the other side. Mai is so wonderful and makes you feel incredibly comfortable with her professionalism and easy going personality. We were chatting the whole time, she was laughing and very engaging. I felt instantly at peace. She's super easy to talk to and she doesn't beat around the bush (literally), she weed whacks it and leaves you feeling like a new, lighter, happier person! Her waxing studio is AMAZING! Clean with soothing music and lush plants hanging from the ceiling and in little shelved nooks. From the outside it looks like a regular building so it's shocking to see how she's designed it so beautifully.
