This review is long overdue. I was in a desperate need to get an eyebrow wax (like 8 months had gone by). I found Kelly through Yelp when I was looking at places near my office. She is located on Market nearby Montgomery Station, so it is a perfect location for me when I'm going to/from work or on a lunch break. She was able to take me super last minute for my initial visit, and did a great job. I've now been back three times, and every time, I am in awe of how painless it is to get my brows waxed! I'm gonna roll over my previous review (and add a few lil updates) that I gave Kelly when she was at Skin City. Ahem: How long I have been loyal to Kelly: 8 years and counting! What I get: Full Bikini touch up (aka Brazilian) Who: Most all of the the time Kelly and sometimes Tiffany (who also rules!) Why Kelly rules? Because Kelly is a master. She's faster than fast, flawless and she owns her skills like no other! She's also really nice, honest and helpful. She can answer any question thoroughly and can offer great product suggestions. I'm a very broke person, but if I had the means I would come to her for many of the other services she provides, because I feel like I am in the best hands when I am being helped by her! I totally trust her, she's just the best. I can't say it enough! Other Details Super bonus if you work around downtown because it's right on Market, but also really no biggie if you don't. If you take public transportation it's close to many bus stops and Bart. If Driving, as suggested on their Facebook page, use the Jessie Square Garage between 3rd and 4th st. The rates are do-able! Or, just park in the 5th and Mission (a lil pricier) garage and then shop away after your done. I started going to Kelly when I moved to San Francisco 1 year ago from Los Angeles because I was looking for a skincare specialist who could meet my needs for my eyebrows. I am very specific and I don't wax or thread my eyebrows, just tweeze them every month. Call me particular, but I just don't let anyone tweeze my eyebrows. I first met Kelly while she was working at Skin City and think that she is absolutely AMAZING at what she does. She listens to what you want, and if I mention I don't like something or want more or less, she actually listens. It is rare to find a beautician who is as receptive to your wants as Kelly is, and I appreciate her genuine lack of care and concern for her clients happiness. I have been seeing Tiffany for 3 years now and I would follow her any where! At first when I found out she moved to a space on Market, I immediately thought it would be a pain to find parking but NOT the case. There are many parking options and she is very close to the Powell shopping area which is a plus. Tiffany has made me feel comfortable from day one (which is extremely important especially for a Brazilian wax) and she always is in a fantastic mood. She is amazing with everything she does. I still get compliments on my eyebrows to this day! When I heard she was going into business with Kelly I was thrilled! Kelly is equally talented and comforting so I know I have her as my back up. The space is so much better than Skin City. It is much more relaxing with the lavender walls and does not have posters tacked to the ceiling (why skin city?!). I have been going to Tiffany for over 2 years now after finding her on Yelp with a boatload of stellar reviews. When I discovered she was no longer at the other salon I had a moment of sheer panic...then I set out on a mission to find her. It didn't take long thankfully! I used her online booking tool to make an appointment and that was super easy. I figured out where her new location is and was happy to see that it is right next to the Montgomery station making it simple to use Muni. The new salon is such a nice space in this cool building surrounded by other salons, massage people, etc. Tiffany and Kelly have decorated it so nicely and everything is clean and new. As always, Tiffany does THE BEST job on my brazilian and eyebrows. I am a super loyal customer for that reason alone and would have followed her wherever she ended up in the city...but it's nice that she landed in such a cool part of town in such a perfect spot. I've been getting waxing and other services done by Kelly and Tiffany since I moved to SF in 2008 and have many good things to say about their talents. They use great wax, individual wood tongue depressors to apply the wax, and a good antibacterial tea tree spray. I have sensitive skin that is easily irritated, which is why I don't shave, and I've never had a bad experience with these ladies - they really know what they're doing and they are lightening fast without making you feel the slightest bit rushed. They offer a great range of facials and other aesthetic services and have always left my skin glowing. I've also had my eye lashes tinted twice by Kelly for beach vacations. I've been going to Kelly for probably 10 years now, and she has set the standard for me for waxing in pretty much every way. Not only is the waxing pain-free (and fast), but she gives me the brows I wish I was born with. My brows are thick like caterpillars, with thick individual hairs and a weird thin spot on one, so they're not the easiest to shape, let alone to shape perfectly evenly and in a way that flatters my face. But Kelly nails it every time. I come out of her shop, and my brows perfectly frame my features. She has such a good eye. Lots of other reviews talk about how she manages to give pain-free bikini waxes that leave no hair behind, and I can attest to that skill. She's also very, very good at other esthetician services, such as facials and masks. I don't really do those often, but I will always remember the pumpkin facial she gave me once that left my skin feeling soooooo goooood. Kelly is so good that I moved a little more than an hour away from SF a couple of years ago, and I still make a point to go to her at least a few times a year. She's worth the trip. This is a testament to how AMAZING both Tiffany and Kelly truly are. I have been seeing both (alternating appointments because I love them both so much) for the past 6 years on the regular, until last month when my bank account was depleting in my post graduation/unemployed current state of living. I found a Lifebooker for a $20 brazilian wax with an aesthetician who is Brazilian herself (I figured if she was from the motherland...) and had glowing reviews on Yelp. When I arrived at the salon I was pleasantly surprised by how nice it was, and her station and room very relaxing, "Oh" I thought "I really lucked out with this Lifebooker". She was sweet and kind and I felt very comfortable with her. She informed me that she would be using hard wax primarily, as well as soft to touch up, because I of my sensitive skin. And then the procedure began...I have tried to block the experience from my memory, but it has been impossible because it was the most excruciatingly painful experience of my life. Tiffany and Kelly have never used hardwax on me, nor so I believe they even offer it, but essentially it doubles the length of the procedure and the hair is torn out slowly. Torn. Out. Not waxed off. I actually cried from the pain. When the appointment was over I knew that Tiffany and Kelly are true gifts from god because never have I ever actually experienced pain while receiving a brazilian from them for 6 whole years. They handle me with care, the process is seamless and pain free, I am ready to go (if you know what I mean) as soon as I walk out- no unsightly feather plucked looking skin. I learned my lesson that day, never again would I stray away from Tiffany and Kelly again, even if my bank account is low, I'll search the couch for loose change or make the boyfriend chip in before I ever see anyone else again!!! read more

I've been getting Brazilian bikini waxes for 12+ years. I lived in LA where I was spoiled with someone that knew how to give a clean and quick bikini wax. When I moved to SF 4 years ago, I didn't know what I was going to do. Every month or so I would test out someone new that I would hear about or read reviews about and NO ONE compared to what I was used to and EVERYONE charged much more. I must have gone to over 10 different places and tried over 15 different wax specialists only to feel like I was paying more for a worse service. Until I was referred to Kelly by a coworker. I remember how the conversation went: ME- "You have a good bikini wax lady" COWORKER- "Yes, she's great." ME- "Is she really good? Like does she get in there & get all the hair, not leave any stragglers?" COWORKER- "She does, she really does a good job." ME- "Like will she go in and pluck away at any single hairs left behind? Because I used to have a really good waxer in LA & I can't find anyone, at any price, that can do as good of a job as her." COWORKER- "She does. I've tried a few different providers now and she is the best I have found, by far." ME- "Ok, I need her number and I'm going to try her..." By this point, was so tired of trying someone new (let's face it, it's not exactly comfortable being naked and in the positions we must get into for a bikini wax) and I was a complete skeptic. The only times I was satisfied with my bikini wax was when I timed it or let it grow until I had a trip to LA planned. Kelly is by far the best bikini wax I have had in SF, hands down. She's a solid 10 while the others couldn't get beyond a 7. She is thorough and meticulous and painless and quick and you don't feel uncomfortable in your birthday suit in those awkward positions you need to be in in order to get your bikini waxed. It's been a while since I've had a facial and boy did my skin need it. My skin feels and looks amazing today thanks to Kelly. Her new studio downtown is really cute and cozy and I felt very comfortable. I like how kelly informs you of exactly what she is doing during the process, from washing your face to the extractions, ug the extractions. Lol.
