I had a sketchy experience with a different cleaning service in the past (Merry Maids) and by comparison, Maid for Chicago was excellent. Pros: Every room was cleaned thoroughly in a reasonable amount of time and within the price range I was quoted. Con: I specifically asked that the inside of the fridge not be cleaned and it was. Not a huge deal, but if I'm being charged by the hour I'd like them to focus on cleaning only what needs to be cleaned. There's nothing like walking into a home that smells and feels clean from top to bottom and knowing you don't have to give up precious time on the weekends to give it a deep clean yourself. Finally my family helped me locate Dan at Maid FOR Chicago. He arrived on time and was OCD about getting my boxes unloaded and apartment items installed CORRECTLY. He was kind and his maid person was the best cleaner I have ever had. She made sure work was done to perfection and needed little direction. I found Maid for Chicago on yelp and I'm so grateful I did. I first just needed move out cleaning of a condo I was selling. But the cleaning team led by Ivette did such a good job I then called back for a move in cleaning at another condo. What was so valuable is the scheduling was easy - Dan (the owner) is honest about availability - the crews contacted me if running late due to prior job, and the cleaning was done so well. So I have now used Ivette and her teams for two cleanings of my own home. The first was a monster - needed deep cleaning of my kitchen including inside ALL cabinets, ovens, refrig and rest of 1st floor. Sent a 3 person crew (thank heavens as my kitchen has a lot of stuff) who rocked. Everything was awesomely clean when they were done; they dusted all the glassware and items before putting them back into the cabinets, and 4 months of cat hair disappeared from the dining chairs. My carpeted stairs were outstandingly clean. Only 1 item broken and none of my important china. So I wasn't upset. I can absolutely recommend this company for any residential cleaning!! Funny story - After the crew cleaned the wall oven we couldn't get the door to shut all the way. Confounded the heck out of us. When I reported it to Dan, he scheduled to come see it for himself and offered his own handyman to try to repair. Well, no repair was needed. I was so unfamiliar with how all the pieces work (having never taken it completely apart to clean) I didn't realize the bottom shelf was simply in the wrong position. Dan saved me a service repair call that would have been costly and embarrassing. read more

Once again, Yelp is in error for not allowing half stars. I want 4.5! They 2 ladies came and I wish I had their names to recommend to the boss. They sent me a text saying they finished elsewhere early and asked in they could come by me early. After I explained I can't leave work until 3PM and w/ traffic I couldn't be there any earlier they were agreeable and polite to wait. The work was done fast and efficiently. They did everything I asked them to do without complaint, including getting up high on a stool to clean my (10-ft) ceiling fan blades and dust my kitchen lights. I will comment my 2 concerns: they missed washing the bathroom floor. They used a Swiffer instead of really mopping the hardwood floors. These are really very minor. Before they left, they asked me if I was satisfied and I'm sure (based on how polite/service-oriented they were) if I had noticed the bathroom floor before they left they would have done it. The service of Maid for Chicago is 17 BILLION times BETTER than the HORRID GINGERELLA I Used 6 months ago. Stay away from Gingerella, they cost double and work twice as slowly. read more

My appointment was at 1:30 pm, the manager called me in the morning to confirm the time, and two young ladies came to my place just in time, they had bring a lot of professional cleaning stuff. I was out of my place while they cleaning, when I came back, it looks like a totally new place, they cleaned every corner, even some hard-to-reach places. The inside of my refrigerator, the closet was like new one. I am so satisfied with their service, I am thinking maybe I will set up a routine cleaning schedule. I used Maid for Chicago before I had family coming in to visit. They arrived within 10 minutes of the time scheduled and still called me to let me know they would be a few minutes late. I appreciated this very much as I've had cleaning services that were not so timely before! While the estimate was a little higher as initially expected, they confirmed with me that it would be okay prior to cleaning. The three women were great with my dog (who can be a bit nosy) and even let him stay out when I left the apartment to run some errands. When I came back I found that they had put him up (which I told them to do if need be) so that he wouldn't lick the floors, which I'm SURE he was doing. I thought this was very thoughtful. In the end, they did a GREAT job, everything was very clean. I was also very glad that they asked me to look everything over when they were done to make sure I was happy with the cleaning. This company deserves 10 stars! Going into my first appointment with them, I was dubious they'd cover everything they promised, as Ive had other maid services and always had issues with detail cleaning; there was always something missed and whenever I'd try to get it resolved or rectified Id be met with excuses or bad attitude. So when the team from Maid for Chicago showed up, I was a bit jaded. However, they blew away my expectations! Upon their arrival, I gave them a tour and warned them I'm picky and very detail oriented. The maids cheerfully responded "Yay! So are we!" still dubious, I left them to their work and returned a few hours later, and went thru a walk thru with them. Not only did they get all the usually missed spots, like corners and behind the toilets, they went above and beyond, getting areas I wouldn't have pointed out like top of the fridge and window ledges, getting under the bed, as well. Everything was beautiful, shiny and sparkling! From that first cleaning, ive had them back several times and each time they do a fabulous job! Not only are the ladies über detailed, thoroughly cleaning to my exacting standards, but they are always friendly and outgoing, always bringing a positive attitude! Nilsa and Monica were great. I am in the process of moving to a new apartment which has been vacant for about 2 years. There was a lot of lime build up in all of the sinks (2 bathrooms and kitchen) and both the toilets. They really worked hard to get off as much lime scale as they could. Cheerful and did a great job. Nilsa and Monica came to our condo last week and did an AMAZING job! They were both very sweet and did a solid job cleaning our 2 bed/2 bath condo in the South Loop. They came right on time, brought all of their supplies, paid close attention to detail, and finished their work in three hours (exactly what was estimated). The price for the cleaning was extremely reasonable for the quality of their work. I would definitely hire Maid for Chicago again AND request Nilsa and Monica. I travel a lot for work and rent out my unit on short-term basis to prospective guests. I used to clean it myself but wanted to try a service who can also wash laundry and linens, and make the beds to get it ready like a hotel stay, which I guess is a bit different from a normal cleaning. I must admit my apt. is sparse and not hard to clean. Dan told me they have customers for corporate cleanings for short- term stays and specialize in these types of cleanings. I met 2 maids the first time to give them instructions and after 9 months and over a dozen or more cleanings, they have not missed a single cleaning and managed to clean it without any complaints from guests. These folks are awesome! Great communication with Dan, and Oz and Betty got our place into tip-top shape! We had been living in our place for 4 months and I'd never tackled our stone showers...I was so happy someone else was around to do it. (Thanks, Betty!) And Oz even asked me if I wanted him to clean the oven, which was included, because he was worried about the fumes. (I'm 8 months pregnant.) I asked him how it looked and he said it looked really good--which is not surprising since we barely ever use it--so I told him not to worry about it. Maid for Chicago is everything you would look for in a cleaning company, and more. Dan is very professional and responds to emails and phone calls promptly. He also does a great job at estimating the number of hours required to get the job done. In fact last time we used their service, it ended being a little less time than anticipated, which was a nice surprise because the job cost less than we expected. Dan went above and beyond in accommodating our circumstances. We were not able to be at the apartment to let the cleaning ladies in so Dan swung by to pick up our keys the night before. Service like that makes Maid for Chicago very convenient to work with. Also, their rate is very reasonable, especially for the quality of the job they do. You will be hard-pressed to find a move-out cleaning company who can do a thorough job for less. I have used Maid for Chicago twice; once for a standard cleaning and once the move-out cleaning. We requested a deep clean after dog sitting two dogs that shed. We have a 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment and I believe the cleaning ladies were there for about 4-4.5 hours. They did a great job, the areas we wanted to be focused on were clean as well I was impressed with their thoroughness on all parts of my apartment. However ,I am giving 4 stars because I had difficulty contacting them and leaving my info. I left two voicemails with my information, as well as an email stating I left a voicemail, but was told they did not receive either of the voicemails and never responded to that email. It worked out in the end but was a little bit of a hassle at first. I would use this service again. read more
