This is a fantastic alternative to the post office for sending and receiving mail. This long-time small business offers inexpensive PO Boxes (much less than the post office) and safe package receiving, with notary services, and smart service. You can send via UPS or USPS. There is a no-nonsense vibe when you go in, but there is also a clear integrity that you NEED for mail and for notary services. I will be happy to never go to the post office again, and it will be great to not have to worry about my mail being stolen - as is happening all over the area. read more

I mailed 5 padded envelopes there when it was 100 degrees in Berkeley and I just couldn't stand in line at the Main post office anymore. They charged me double of what the USPS would charge and it didn't include tracking. Two of the 5 packages arrived. Three were returned to me with postage lacking two weeks later. Even though I paid $7-8 per package the stamps that were affixed were for $1 or $1.40. My attempt at saving time added three weeks to the package delivery, stress as I thought they were lost and another trip to the post office. I learned my lesson. I thought I'd give this a try to mail two manuscripts out today. I bought two padded envelopes and addressed them and was charged $10.00. Just to put that in perspective, they cost a little more than $1.00 each at Office Depot. Okay, I checked on mailing costs and was told the price was going to be over $17 each. I said I'd like media mail rates. The woman shrugged and said, "It's going to take a long time to get there." I responded that a week or so was fine. "More like months," she said. Then I knew what I was dealing with. Media rate? She quoted over $9, media mail, USPS. I paid for the envelopes, then raced to the post office where I paid $2.89 each to mail my two packets. I have a mailbox here that I use as a mailing address for my business. So far everything's been great. They can accept packages from UPS and Fedex, which is really nice and convenient for me. I get a lot of business related packages shipped there, sometimes personal packages too. What's nice about that is I don't have to worry about packages stolen from my porch (which has happened to me before at home), like the other reviewer mentioned. Sometimes I'll call them and ask if my box number has received any packages, before stopping by. The guy that works there is really nice too. He's always very polite, and offers to help carry boxes to my car too if I'm picking up multiple or large packages. You can also bring in prepaid USPS or UPS shipments to leave there with them to be picked up the next day. read more

She helped me package everything, was sensitive to the fragile items, and worked quickly to get all of my belongings packed up well and on their way. She even went ahead and got a comparison quote from USPS to ship my books media mail at a cheaper price. She also helped me get a quote for some items that I wanted to ship through a freight service. Everything arrived in perfect condition with the exception of one item, which Preet handled very efficiently over email, as she had insured each package with UPS. I tried to take an Amazon return to this UPS pick up location and the clerk tried to charge me a dollar for "scanning" my package. I have never been asked to pay?! I think because they don't have a scanner and she had to manually enter the info, that was her justification for charging. Seems petty to me. It's not the dollar amount, its the principle! The clerk was not even there when I walked in, I stood there for 2 minutes waiting for her to return. Other peoples packages were just sitting there, not secure. Works for me. I only go here to buy boxes for shipping, and the place is entirely pleasant. I'm always greeted upon entry with 'sir', and thanked for my purchases upon exit. I often don't carry change, and they're quite happy to round down to the nearest dollar when the amount is small. I hope this place doesn't close, since it's so convenient to where I live. read more

We've had a mailbox here for about a year now, and they do a really nice job. We use the box as an address for our business, and they've even accepted deliveries for us when it was just dropped by in person, not sent via the mail. The folks who work here are unfailingly friendly and helpful. The only reason they don't get 5 stars (I'd do 4.5 if I could) is because I wish they were open either a bit earlier or a bit later--10-6 pretty much matches my workday, so getting there to pick up a package during the week is sometimes a little tough for me. It's also really nice to have a place where packages can go and be safe, as opposed to getting stolen from our front porch. read more

Whatever you do, do not go anywhere near this business. I've never experienced an employee as uncooperative and disrespectful as the older woman at the desk. My package was misplaced by them. When I'd call asking them to look for it after UPS showed me the tracking history, she proceeded to laugh at me and respond with "smart remarks". One time I called, they even "put me on hold" and the same woman proceeded to make a personal call to her insurance. I could hear the whole thing. You know that the automated call with an insurance company takes a very long time. I hung up and tried to call back and no one would answer the phone for hours and hours. Every time I'd call, I would have a different story from the same woman. After fighting tooth and nail to get them to cooperate, a UPS driver was able to pick it up from the location even though "it wasn't there". She swears that her books indicate that she no longer had my package but her "book" is literally just a lined note book. There is not an ounce of competency displayed by this employee and I would not trust her with any of your packages. I can't believe that I got better, helpful service from a UPS representative than a local business. read more

This is not an honest merchant and I recommend avoiding the store. I needed to send a package to nearby Emeryville. I thought the price of 27$ for a box with a robe in it was a bit high. The women behind the counter promised me she was only charging the shipping rate. She said it would be cheaper to use USPS, but that I wouldn't get a tracking number. Since I was returning an item to an internet merchant I wanted to make sure I got a tracking number. I felt like maybe I was being lied to so I called UPS who looked up my item by the tracking number and told me that the rate was less than ten dollars. I called the store and sent an email, but never got any response other than someone will get back to you. Charging someone 2.5 times the shipping rate is egregious and lying about is bad business practice. Moreover, its kind of stupid.It didn't take me long to catch them in their lie. read more
