If you go here, try to get outdoor seating because the inside will smell like smoke since you're so close to the casino. As for the food, I had the blackened tuna as an appetizer which was really good and well seasoned. The kansas city strip was my main course, very good, and the mashed potatoes that came with it were rich and tasty as well. Overall based on the food I would have given this place 5 stars but the manager in charge was kind of slimy. He comes over to our table and says "Hey that blackened tuna doesn't look big enough for all three of you, want me to get you guys another order?" My first trip to Main and Abbey was good, sat at the bar and had the Chillean Sea Bass with a nice beer, can't remember which. I liked the layout and the bar, I felt that the entree was a bit much for the amount of food but it WAS delicious. We are regulars at this restaurant and have had many good experiences, however Tuesday the food quality was not up to par. My husband and I enjoy this restaurant, so we invited my parents to join us. We spent $300, which is fine, however when my dad $40 pork is under seasoned and dry and my husbands steak that was ordered medium rare and comes out medium well, we were disappointed. If you order burgers, make sure you order the higher cooking style because my medium was medium rare to rare. Wonderful restaurant and amazing experience with our server, Paul. En route to Oregon from NYC, we hadn't eaten many vegetables in a while. We were excited by the breadth of salad options and all three of us tried various tempting vegetal dishes. Delicious! No complaints here. Even more striking than the fresh greens and interesting salad dressings was our stellar assistance while at the restaurant- im speaking of course of Paul. He was welcoming, friendly, and chatted us up in a kind and non intrusive manner. He even gave us a dessert on him! Incredible! So I will start out with the good. Our server, Chelsea, was fantastic. Super nice with the just the right amount of attention! Second, the food was really, really good. My husband had the double crunch chicken with the garlic mashed potatoes and I had the 8 ounce filet with blue cheese crust and a portobello mushroom cap (disappointingly small for $6) with truffle butter as accompaniments. Both were very good! Filet was done almost perfect, half of it was a little overcooked (ordered med rare) and my husband loved everything about his dish. Our dinners came with complimentary beer bread with a sweet vanilla butter. Tasted kinda like a blueberry muffin without the blueberries if that makes any sense...really good! Now for the not so good. As soon as we walked in the doors of the casino our senses were assaulted with this overwhelming perfumey (not in a good way) air freshener smell, then we entered the second door and that disgusting smell was mixed with cigarette smoke. Not exactly appetizing, just the opposite quite frankly. In fact this will prevent me from ever going back (unless my husband can talk me into it cuz he really did love his chicken:)! Even after we entered the restaurant and I questioned whether upon going further in we would no longer smell that horrificness, we were assured we would not but they proceeded to attempt to sit us at the table closest to the entrance. Uh, hello, I had just made it quite clear I hated that smell and could not eat there if all traces of that smell were not gone where we were sitting. It was a lot better at that table but definitely still noticeable. We were then sat at a table about as far from the entrance as possible and I could still smell the nasty air freshener (less than desirable still) but not as bad and couldn't smell any cigarette smoke. One more thing I didn't like in my older age was the volume of the music, way too loud for me. But again, I am sure that speaks to my age more than anything else. So all in all, great food; however, being as sensitive to smells as I am, probably won't go back. read more

I avoided Main + Abbey when it first opened because I wasn't hearing good reviews and people were complaining about the prices. In the last several months, I have been here four times for dinner/drinks and it is becoming one of my favorite restaurants. I cannot wait until it's nice enough to sit in the outside dining area. Service has been great every visit. The menu is pretty small, but everything I've tried has been delicious. My most recent visit was a pre-Rick Springfield concert dinner with a group of friends. We walked right by Rick's table on the way to ours- bonus!! I had the warm spinach salad with grilled chicken ($12). The warm bacon raspberry vinaigrette was sweet and tangy, excellent! I've also really liked the Beer + Cheese Soup, BBQ Chicken Flatbread Pizza, Reuben Spring Rolls, and Amish Blue + Bacon Wedges (I don't like blue cheese,but they were still good). I hope to try some of the hearty menu items when I know I'll be able to take home leftovers. Many of the appetizers are enough for a meal. You will be served delicious complimentary warm pretzel bread with honey walnut butter and stone ground mustard. The atmosphere is dark wood and brick, cozy. I hope to also hit happy hour in the future. Half price appetizers (@ $4) and specialty drinks are calling my name. read more

This was so dissappointing. We ordered calamari and it was mostly fried pickles and very very little calamari. My wife said they should have called it fried pickles. Our 32 ounce steak had a bone that must have weighed 12 ounces. The steak was good, but not great. Then came the Bloody Mary. It had way too much Worchestor sauce. The check came for 140.00. We were sickened by the Dinner on Christmas Eve, In all honesty Had eaten here twice and this was the worst experience. WORST Ribeye I've ever had!!!!! The knife couldn't even saw through!!!! TOUGH TOUGH TOUGH and not only that they asked me how my steak was and I told them, OBVIOUSLY I COULDN'T CUT THE STEAK!!!! They asked me if I wanted something else and I said yes the Filet cut....and YES it was Melt in your mouth amazing!!! OK So they didn't take the other steak off the table so I offered it to the men at the table to try...my husband and a friend. They ate some of it and said it the Flavor was great but the Toughest RIBEYE they have ever had....and said "we've grilled our own at home that have always melted In your mouth"...OK so the nice server brings us the check...They Charged us for BOTH steaks... what!???? So she take the receipt to her Manager (who offered me another steak in the first place) to remove the first one off the Check....He Said NO..cause we continued to eat it....WHAT! why didn't they take it away when thy knew I didn't want it??? INSTEAD they Charged us 39.00$$$ for the Ribeye and 29.00$ for the Filet... BOTH!! The server and Manger were both awair of the situation but Still Made us Pay for both the steaks!!!! Well when there is special menu for a big name chef, one would expect to have a wonderful meal. However, this special chef cannot prepare a steak correctly, NOT once but TWICE! I return a beef tenderloin TWICE for being over cooked. While the chef and manager walked around the restaurant asking patrons how their meals were, I waited patiently. However, they never deemed it necessary. I specifically had to request the chef come speak with me so that I could voice my dislike for his laps in ability to prepare a steak. He arrived at the table and admitted that he knew that I had returned his plated steak on two occasions. While speaking with him when we realized he wasn't giving to thoughts about whether or not we liked our meal, so we asked that a manager be sent over to the table so that we could voice our concerns with them. Guess who showed up next, NOT a manager but a young hostess. We asked again for management and again received no one with management credentials. I was forced to ask the floor manager of the Hard Rock Casino, in which this restaurant is located, to go and retrieve a member of management. Once finally getting to speak with a manager a simple, I apologize was offered. We (a group of twenty) are in Sioux City for business and all like to play cards and eat a good steak will most definitely not be returning to this mismanaged restaurant. And as far as ever stepping foot inside a restaurant where, so called celebrity chef Sean Brasel is responsible for food, NEVER. He is no more than disrespectful punk that was laughing at me because I didn't like his steaks. If I wasn't a changed man and have a family I would love to have taught this punk a lesson. He shouldn't even be allowed to cook for a Waffle House steak and eggs plate. Great job Main + Abbey. Horrible experience. Your better off hitting up a Texas Road House!
