We had an amazing meal in this place. The waitress was outstanding. We were served some of the best baked potatoes ever! Jumbo shrimp cocktail was awesome, and you cannot find a better place to eat. Very pretty bar in the Warrior hotel! They have a beautiful seating area with plenty of places to sit. The electronic menu was unlike anything I've seen before and I loved it. You could click on each individual item and see the ingredients and a picture. It would also show you more than just food and drinks, but also their history, vendors, and information about their spa, rooftop bar, and bowling alley. I think that was above and beyond for a menu. The elderflower peachy prosecco was very tasty. The bartender had a fun sense of humor and was very prompt while serving. read more

This is my second time here. I ordered a 16 ounce prime dry-aged new york strip. I was served a steak that was maybe 8 ounces? 10 at most. When I brought this up to the waitress she confirmed that I was indeed given the 16 ounce steak. Other people at the table ordered the same thing and were given steaks that were double in thickness. $91 buys you cheap cooked from frozen french fries, good polenta, and a grisly new york strip. I have eaten at fine steakhouses before such as Peter Lugers, MarkJoseph's, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, and more. I have paid more for my meal and never felt as ripped off and disappointed as I have here. The restaurant website purposefully does not post menu prices. The only upside is that I think the waitress seemed to be doing her best. The ambience of the restaurant is OK i guess? I think you can get better ambience from other steakhouses in the area. read more

Ambiance is dark and lovely. Service was great. Food was alright-- decent, but not great. The flavour of the steak was really good, but it was gristly throughout. There asparagus was decent enough. The truffle fries were a waste of a calorie splurge with those cheap, basic frozen fries all the most basic restaurants seem to have started using over the last year or so. Not even the truffle flavour could help them. Go with a nice thin fry or- better yet- a house made fry, especially if you're going to try and pull off a higher end meal. The thing that looked best - the burger- is only offered at happy and lunch. They would not make it at dinner. That might have been a better choice and will try it if we go again! read more

We ate dinner here over the weekend with high hopes for a great dinner. Unfortunately, we were left disappointed. The evening started out great with a couple of drinks at the bar. There was a good selection of specialty cocktails and the bartenders were experienced with making cocktails not on the menu. Kudos to the bar staff!! Once seated in the restaurant, the waitress asked us if we wanted any appetizers. The table declined but my husband and I requested to split a wedge and asked if the kitchen could chop the salad in the back. The waitress appeared confused, so I make a cutting motion with my hands to further explain. In the meantime, the waitress bought over 5 slices of bread for a table of 6. LOL! Crazy enough, the salad came out on a single plate and sliced in strips versus chopped. We had to remind her the salad was supposed to be split and requested a 2nd plate. The wedge was dressed very lightly (see picture) and not to our liking. Our dinner came within 15-20 minutes of ordering. The majority of the orders went to the wrong person and we had to direct the waitress as to where they went. My DH ordered the 8oz filet cooked to a medium temp. The filet came out medium well done plus and was not 8oz. I ordered the ahi tuna. While to tuna was cooked perfectly, it was barely warm on the outside and the lobster fried rice was as well. Flavors for both meals were very good and we had no complaints there. We also ordered a side of the garlic mashed potatoes and they were barely warm. Another party at our table ordered the garlic mashed and steam was rolling off of them. The kitchen clearly doesn't know how to prepare and deliver several meals at the same time while ensuring they're all hot. Overall, the service is lacking and the kitchen needs to get better with cooking for more than 4 people at a table. For the prices they charge, I expected more than what we got. They have the potential to do better, let's hope they do. read more

Exceptional experience at Woodbury's this evening. Riley made an exceptional old fashioned (Templeton Rye). His service, and knowledge of the menu paid off as he sold me a great evening. Started out with the goat cheese appetizer. My recommendation: save a little; as it pairs well with steak, or your potato's. Main course I had the prime ribeye which was expertly cooked along side asparagus, and garlic mashed potatoes. The flavor brought me back to memories of my grandfather cooking steak for me. Traditional salt and pepper steak with a dalop of butter on top... It is unbelievable to me that a hotel/restaurant like this exists in Iowa, let alone Sioux City. I will continue to be back, and make recommendations to people visiting the area. read more

Our meal from appetizer to dessert was wonderful! Our server was great. Unfortunately, our service was incredibly slow. Our reservation was at 7:30 and we didn't leave until 10:00 pm. I look forward to returning and hope we don't experience the same delays. read more

What a wonderful restaurant and dinner. We came into town for a performance at the Orpheum down the street and arrived early to try Woodbury's. We had a wonderful experience. Andy greeted us, took us to our table and chatted with us a short while we settled in; a very funny guy. Kaitlin (Caitlin?) our server was over quickly for our drink order and understand our schedule for the evening. The appetizers were perfect in size and perfectly done. We skipped soup and salad to assure we would have room for dinner since we couldn't take leftovers with us, and a good choice. My wife's medium rare 8oz filet was done perfectly and my Ahi on a bed of lobster rice (chunks of lobster included) were delicious and just the right size. The 3 Degree bottle they suggested was excellent, and Andy's suggestion to decant it made it drinkable very quickly. Next time we are in Sioux City we are making Woodbury's our go-to restaurant! read more

Had the pleasure of having dinner here tonight as we are guests of the Warrior Hotel. I have to say, what a wonderful experience. First off, the service was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, and made some wonderful suggestions. We like a good shrimp cocktail and were not disappointed. The French onion soup was the best we have ever had. My old fashioned was very good. I had the prime ribeye. Perfect temperature. Nice char and seasoning. Price was a little high for Iowa, but the quality was worth it. My wife had the halibut with shrimp and grits. Very good. Chocolate molten cake was well done. The atmosphere was like stepping back into the 30s. Nice ambient music and nice Art Deco decor. If you are ever in Sioux City, give this place a try. Wonderful. Hotel is awesome as well!! read more

This is the new steakhouse in the Warrior Hotel in Sioux City. First things first, this was my first time in the Warrior and judging from the lobby and bar alone, it looks amazing. As to Woodbury's, it is also is nice and new, but it doesn't provide as modern an atmosphere as some of other new (or newly remodeled) finer dining options in Sioux City, such as Kahlil's, Table 32, or Crave. However, the service was very good, with both the wait staff and management extremely attentive. The food was more of a mixed bag, and the reason for a less than perfect review. We started with the bronzed tuna and the duck confitt flatbread as appetizers. Both were very good. The tuna was bronzed and seasoned, with a nice pink interior and tasted fresh. The flatbread was appropriately rich and perfectly baked. For my entrée I had the bone-in ribeye, with a caesar salad, and added mashed potatoes and green peppercorn sauce. The ribeye was well cooked, I asked for medium rare and it was spot on. It was also well seasoned and had a nice char. However, for a steak that was over fifty dollars, with ala cart side dishes, it was gristly and I suspect was from unfortunately close to the end of the rib roast. (Not to denigrate Sioux City's restaurant scene, but the restaurants in town selling any entre for more than fifty dollars are few and far between. So, whether good or bad, I have higher expectations here for meals that are at that price point than I would say in Minneapolis or Des Moines.) As for the sides, the Caesar salad was very good, with parmesan crisps and anchovies as nice accoutrements. However, both the mashed potatoes and the peppercorn sauce tasted old, like they had been reheated too often or spent too long in the steam tray. As noted above, both the potato side and the sauce were ala carte, so for those two sides I spent a total of $14.00 and expected better. I also suspect the sauce was either premade or based primarily on a premade demi glace, and even if the potatoes were fresher, they were plain in the worst way. My dining companion had the salmon and the crème brulee for desert. He said both were very good, and especially complimented the desert, saying the top had the perfect snap when he broke into it. read more

I cannot recommend this restaurant at all. We stayed at the Warrior for five nights. We tried the restaurant at lunch time. The three of us were the only ones in the restaurant besides a party of 12 or 13. There was one server and she told us the food came from downstairs and she had to do everything herself. It took forever to get our food. When it came it was all barely lukewarm and not good at all. $48 dollars later. Bad service and bad food. For that price go somewhere else! read more
