Why do we have to put a star in order to post. I wish I read the reviews first before I ordered from this place. Instead, this place was recommended by mom since I am from out of town. I called in to order a cake and cupcakes for my daughters baby shower. I ordered a vanilla/strawberry cake, one dozen vanilla/raspberry filling cupcakes and one dozen chocolate/mocha filling cupcakes. When I came to pick up the items, they told me it would be another 10-15 mins. No big deal. The big deal was that they knew this cake was for a baby shower so the design was mediocre at best. The cupcakes looked like I could have made them myself. Some of the cupcakes had decorative pearls on them (about four out of 24). By the time I got home, the first layer of the cake started to slide off the bottom layer. The cake was secure during transportation from the bakery to the destination. When I say the cake's design was mediocre at best, it was designed as if the lady who frosted it either 1) really hated her job and did not care about her presentation or 2) she didn't know what she's doing. To top it off, she had the nerve to tell me "I googled the name and that's not how you spell it". If she had any professionalism, which I highly doubt, she could have said "I just wanted to confirm the spelling of the name" but she came at me as if I didn't know how to spell my grand child's name. When I got home, my family had to fix the cake and add the designs. Luckily they had cake decorating things to make it presentable. When we cut into the cake, it was pretty much just that, just cake with a joke of a thin red line of filling. And the cupcakes had NO FILLINGS in neither the vanilla or chocolate which I paid extra for. This bakery displays on their website only their "best cakes". Putting decorations on a cake goes without saying. I should've ordered my cake from La Plaza bakery because, not only are their cakes great, but their presentations are not a let down. You know what you are paying for. Do not order here unless want less than stellar desserts.

Luz made my wedding cake for my August 2024 wedding and it was absolutely beautiful! We asked for a vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and white frosting. Luz decorated the cake exactly how I had asked - the cake was beautiful and tasted wonderful. Everyone was raving how delicious the cake tasted! Additionally, Luz catered our post-wedding brunch the next month for about 30 people in Salinas. The food was wonderful and we even had leftovers after people going for second helpings. It was so easy working with Luz and her team - they brought everything over in the morning and picked it up at the end of the day. They supplied us with coffee, hot water, utensils, plates, etc. It made the morning following the wedding so easy on everyone. My mom worked closely with Luz ordering the cake and catering, and my mom said Luz was a joy to work with. She was extremely friendly and kind and really wanted to make sure we had a wonderful event and wedding cake. We were so happy to work with Luz and are so grateful for her!

Main St Bakery included a very sweet card with our personalized message.

If I could give Main St. Bakery TEN STARS, I would!! I was in a real jam to have a gift delivered to a dear friend up in Salinas, CA from ten of us down in Santa Barbara, CA. The morning of her birthday, I called Main St Bakery, hoping and praying we'd be able to get same day delivery. Oh, and I also had no idea what to order for the birthday girl. Oof! I suggested some cake pops and maybe some chocolate covered strawberries?? Really no clue. Luz was our angel and saved the day! I told her our budget, that we needed it delivered and if she could suggest some options. Not only did they create the most perfect, gorgeous box of goodies for our dear friend, they did it so quickly and professionally. The box included chocolate covered strawberries, 6 different types of cookies, cake pops, cupcakes, French macarons, lemon, pecan and pumpkin bars!! Yes, PUMPKIN BARS!! Yummmm!! This gift really made our friend feel so special on her 2020 birthday. I couldn't be more grateful to Main St. Bakery and I'm SO glad I took a chance on them from so far away. Next time I visit Salinas, I cannot WAIT to try out Main St. Bakery for myself!!

Cannot speak for pastries or cake yet Ordered the vegan meal which was very good. Amazing salsa that goes very well with the vegetables. Coffee is good! Thank you for having vegan options, soon I will try the vegetarian burrito which I think can be vegan used. I'd definitely order this again and it's nice that's it's quick and healthy. Rice is amazing also.

Desserts and cake. The centerpieces were very similar to the ones in the picture as well (keep in mind I have a very simple style).

Main Street Bakery played a huge role in my wedding in 2018. When I was researching, I was looking for a vendor to provide several services in one and in my budget. They were able to provide the best deal for what we were looking for. Before making our decision, my husband and I went to their restaurant several times and had their food, drinks and desserts. We were very impressed with their food and enjoyed talking to Luz and her husband, so of course we contracted them for our wedding. Communicating with Luz during the process was seamless. I was able to share my vision through a Pinterest board and emails. It saved me so much time to have them do the cake, desserts, food, drinks, bouquet and centerpieces. At the time, my husband and I were working long hours and planning a wedding, so communicating with just one person helped us so much! On the day of the wedding they did not disappoint! For what we payed, I was very impressed with their promptness, quality of food, centerpieces, bouquet, bartender and staff provided for the day. In my culture, usually family members help with setting up, cleaning and serving guests. Because Main Street Bakery included their staff, my family was able to enjoy themselves and not worry about helping out. The only thing I wish I had done differently is ask for more desserts, I underestimated my quests' sweet tooth. To this day, my husband and I really enjoy their food and desserts. We have the best memories of our wedding and we are thankful for the help and service provided by them. Thank you Main Street Bakery!

    Chile Rilleno to go

This place is more known for their cakes which are very spectacular! They have a lot of talent. But don't forget about them when you need a quick meal. Our usual lunch spot was closed today even though they advertise that they're open until three so we were scrambling to find somewhere to get a quick to go meal. I had tried this once before. I had a BLT and asked for no mayo and they put mayo on it. No big deal but it wasn't a very memorable meal. This is why you should always give the place a second chance. To be fair, a BLT is just a BLT. They have good food at an affordable price with friendly service and a bakery to add dessert! We went with the classic burger and Chile Rileno. I'm sure I mangling the spelling. It was a perfect meal with enough left over for another meal. I'll keep them in mind for the next time we don't have time to cook. They have a little of everything, including breakfast all day, a selection of salads, burgers and Mexican food.

Wow! This place is *AH-MAY-ZING*.... I've enjoyed their cakes, authentic Mexican food & cookies for years... Today they outdid themselves with custom decorated cookies for a special event. The owner, Luz, is very talented & puts her heart into her business & customers. Worth a visit!

I recently visited this bakery for a graduation cake I was specific and clear of what I wanted. Not to mention the cake I order was super simple a white butter cream cake with a gold drip on top. When I saw the cake I was shock and disgusted of how bad it looked. I was so embarrassed to put this cake on my dessert table I was truly embarrassed for anyone to see my cake it looked like a five year old did it. The price of 315 clearly did not match the quality of the cake. I will never go back to this bakery again.

This is what the color and the basic sprinkle I wanted. Ignore the fancy mermaid sprinkles. I'm just showing it for photo.

ZERO STARS if I can give it that! DON'T ORDER HERE! I came across this place cuz I was looking for bakeries to order cake pops and apparently this one is the only one in town who does it. I was surprised safeway, nobhill or even Whole Foods doesn't do them. It's 3 days prior to me needing them for my TK classroom bday. I called and she said that's enough time. I came in after work and ordered , showed her what I want. My request was basic purple with sprinkles and the other dozen to be light blue with sprinkles. Flavors are chocolate and marble. One design and flavor per dozen which is understandable. I came the morning of pick up and both orders are not ready. I also had to remind her so I showed her a pic of what My cake pop should look like since I figure maybe she just needs to put sprinkles last. She literally just grabbed left over cake pops from her display fridge and drizzle it with blue and purple candy melts and of course the flavors I got were different. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, WASTE OF MONEY AND TIME! We paid u properly and didn't short hand u, so don't do that to customers who entrusted u with their business.

Could those layers be any thinner if they tried!

Ok. Where to start... I ordered a 6" 2 layer raspberry filling cake with buttercream icing. The cake I took home had that fake whip topping crap. I called them and they said they would make me another one with the buttercream I ordered. Great! But this is what I got. Does this look two layers to you? The whole cake is only 2 inches tall. I asked and they said yes it is.... Won't be back!! Oh and it was $38!

I was so pleased. I ordered these last night and they were ready today. Absolutely delicious. The lady that helped me was so nice and kind. Always a great experience here.

Pistachio, birthday cake, green tea, vanilla, & raspberry!

Came to try out the macarons, since I want a macaron tier for our wedding. The macarons tasted great and I loved the flavor options! They were soft with a slight crunch! 10/10! Thank you!

    "Marble" Cake Pop with mold.

My cake pops had growing MOLD!!! I don't usually write yelp reviews, but I wanted to express my experience at Main Street Bakery. I went in with high expectations but was met with rude customer service and MOLDY cake pops. The taste was bitter and stale. The owner also gave us the wrong flavors. When my friend and I requested a refund, she made the comment "you're going to have to fight for the change."

The sourdough bread was toasted nicely and I loved that crispy layer of cheese on the outside because that is a special tray and my favorite part of any melt sandwich. The tuna salad itself was flavorful. It came with potatoes that unfortunately were probably the only miss for me. They seemed like they were not reheated all the way, so they had that slightly cold, rubbery texture. They also serve this little cucumber and tomato salad on the side that was absolutely delicious and honestly such a nice fresh side to my sandwich. My son wasn't too impressed with the Caesar salad because he said the dressing tasted watery, but other than that everything else he liked - the chicken was flavorful and nicely cooked, the salad was fresh and crunchy. Service and atmosphere were nice. Overall, I would definitely come back for lunch again. Breakfast is also great here, so I would recommend both.

We have tried different things on each visit and everything has been quite tasty. We have sat outside on the patio, so cannot speak to the inside other than restroom, which was fine - probably could be a little cleaner near bathrooms. Salmon with piccata sauce - really nice portion, it was quite large serving. The sauce was thicker than I am used to having, almost gravy-texture, but very flavorful. Delicious fresh veggies and I think it was a mashed potato (this was 2 weeks ago). French dip sandwich - hubby thought was spot on, really nice size. Only issue were his fries were a bit soggy. Calamari appetizer - LOVE this - it is really tasty, I prefer the tartar sauce with it, but the calamari is a really nice texture and tastes very fresh. Chicken tenders for kids - this is where I would knock them a bit, says panko crusted, these were not. They were identical to ones we get at Costco, which are great - really nice quality, but these were not what was expected. Fries again were soggy, so kind of a miss on the chicken tenders and fries. Hamburger - delicious my son said, toasted brioche bun was a nice touch. It was cooked well, decent portion as well, not too small and not too large. Steak and shrimp - while the steak was flavorful, it was thin, just slightly thicker than a flank cut. Shrimp were fine - overall it was a 3.5 out of 5 per the hubby. Pepperoni pizza - interesting. It tastes totally fine - its just felt like the dough was more focaccia? not pizza dough? The pepperoni were plentiful, not spicy (which is sometimes good for littles), and cheese was fresh. We enjoyed, but I think we are just spoiled by New York style. Desserts are hit or miss - cookies and the brownie have a really good flavor, but crumbly - like almost too crumbly. You hold and it falls out of your hand. They were out of coconut cream pie - so my hubby got a lemon pie, it was fine. The waitstaff has always been pleasant and attentive! I've tried the Breakfast Burrito, Asada, Carnitas, and Chile Verde, and they've all been worth coming back for. First off, the tortillas are absolutely to die for. They're easily the best tortillas I've ever had, soft, fresh, and packed with flavor. They honestly make the burritos stand out from anywhere else. Every burrito comes with the same traditional rice and beans, and they taste homemade. The beans, especially, are delicious. The Breakfast Burrito is a great way to start your day. It's simple with eggs, potatoes, and your choice of meat, but it's filling, comforting, and exactly what you'd want from a breakfast burrito. The Carnitas Burrito has great flavor, although the meat can be a little on the dry side and tends to stick to your teeth. I'd definitely recommend adding their salsa, which helps bring everything together and adds some extra moisture. The Asada Burrito is a classic and doesn't disappoint. The steak is flavorful, and it's a solid go-to option. I'd also recommend grabbing some salsa to take it up another notch. The real winner, though, is the Chile Verde Burrito. If you're only ordering one, make it this one. The pork is juicy, tender, and full of flavor, and the chile verde sauce is absolutely incredible. It's easily my favorite and the one I'd recommend to anyone visiting for the first time. My only critique is the size, I just wish the burritos were a little bigger because they're so good! Tried the chile verde (Their most popular) and the pork had some pretty good flavor! Also tried the carne asada, not the best carne asada I've had, simple, but still pretty tasty! It was missing some nice spice! I didn't know that it didn't come with any salsa, definitely get some salsa on the side. Coming from so cal, I would definitely go back up just to try their other burritos!
