I can't into this bakery for the first time today to see if they had a birthday cake for myself. I was meeting a bunch of people for lunch and thought a cage would be nice. They had 1 cake. It was a fluffy white cake with strawberry inside and a wonderful whipped cream frosting. Everyone loved the cake. The cake is now devoured and my mom wanted to know where I got it. So I didn't get to try the other gorgeous bakery items, but in wanted to for sure. Really glad I stopped in. This is across from the Northridge Mall on the corner (across from Denny's). I just ate the absolute BEST apple turnover I've ever had! Flaky, good amount of filling, sweet. My family loved them! I've also been searching for good tamales. Most places are bleh. But, the pork tamales here are big, moist, and tasty. I haven't tried very many things here, but will give the other made to order hot foods soon. The service was fast. Lots of variety. We love La Mariposa Bakery! Not only for their pan dulce but their food too, they have the best tamales around. At 3.00 each they're big, moist and delicious. I also like their tostadas, they pile on the toppings and you get your choice of meat. They serve it with 2 Tostada shells, I guess 1 extra if the bottom one breaks from all the weight. A bargain at only 5.29 They also have fresh juices at 6.00 for a large to go cup, fruit cups, yogurt cups and various salads. These are in a cooler case right when you walk in on your left. Today we tried their Hot Cheeto Burrito, this was HUGE Burrito for 10.72. It weighed a ton. It's packed with your choice of meat, hot cheetos, rice, beans, sour cream , cheese, onions and pico de gallo. It was delicious! Totally worth bucks! We also got some giant tostada shells to take home for dinner. This is our favorite tamale shop! When I walked in first thing I ask the lady was do you accept apple pay? She responded with another question, "its your first time here?" Like what the... obviously if Im asking its because I had never been here, anyways my husband was craving cortadillo bread which we had on our vacation back in Mexico. Bread tasted like a rock! My fave spot for tamales. I've only had the chicken and pork tamales and they are generous in portion. The meat to masa ratio is on point. If you need a large order of tamales I recommend calling them 3 days ahead. They also conveniently offer some quick grocery items. read more

I have had their bakery items and deli foods. I get Tamales during Christmas @ 3.00 each it gets pricy 2 dozen cost 70$ and have always been pleased the size quantity of meat to masa ratio. Tamales have always been tasty. This year Xmas 2024 I ordered red pork and green chicken Tamales. I had a taste.of the green Chicken and was so disappointed the flavor of the masa was a bit blan and the chicken was unseen it looked like it was blended with the green chilie in to a paste. They didn't look good looked like baby poo in a tamale. I am greatly disappointed Special food for a special time and money paid was wasted. I was.going to post a picture of the tamale but didn't want to dig in the trash. My favorite place for fresh bolillo! Their champurrado is also the best on cold mornings. Definitely better texture and flavor than other bakeries around town. The conchas and conchitas are very good, but they have to be fresh. We scored some unique colors a few days ago, we think they may have made too many for a gender reveal event since they were bright blue and bright pink. I went there this afternoon, they have the worst service ever! There were to women there fixing an order. I was the first one in there waiting at the food counter, and then this man walks in and i had already been there fir 5 minutes, and then in about 15 minutes those women finally finished the order. They seen me standing there and didn't even acknowledge me! Then the one woman serviced that man behind me first and i proceed to ask them how much longer and by that time all these other people had come in! After i asked them how much longer the woman at the register told me the line was over there! Although the man wasn't in line either! I guess because I dont speak spanish they are prejudice!!! The Mexican pastries were light, fluffy and delicious. The prices were outstanding in regards to how large of a pastry you can get for simply one dollar. Pretty good service. The chorizo con papas burrito with molcajete style salsa is delicious. The beans are pretty good and the queso fresco in the burro really ties the meal together. The chile relleno burrito was amazing until i got to the chile relleno. The chile tasted old. But still good with the molcajete salsa, beans, rice, & queso fresco. There's a new bakery in town and I'm instantly a fan! Not only do they have fresh baked Mexican bread and pastries, but they also have donuts and Mexican food! The pastries were soft and delicious! The food was also very tasty. They have tamales, (cheese was spicy yum!) tacos, burritos and more. There are several pictures on the window to make your stomach growl. I tried the carnitas tacos with a side of rice and beans. The carnitas were very flavorful with lots of meat! We will be back as there's lots more to try. This place is great for what it is, a mexican bakery. Anyone expecting restaurant selection or service should visit a restaurant. They speak very little English, but I can order a burrito without speaking spanish. They don't use an oven to prepare the food so what you have is basically a sandwich shop, which is why they use cheese sauce on their nachos. If you haven't been here you have to try their chili rellenos, I prefer them on a torta (again sandwich shop), but I'm sure a burrito would suffice. read more

I didn't even bother with the pan dulce because there was a fly in the display! Gross! Anyway, got home gave my husband the burrito and he said it was garbage. I tried it myself and he was right the meat was chewy, under seasoned, and dry. The beans tasted canned and the rice was gross and mushy! The tamales were equally disgusting because the masa had the consistency of dry corn bread and the meat was also dry. Super disappointed! Went here for Mexican bread based on the positive reviews I read. Bought conchas, elotes, cuerno de azucar, puerquito, cupcake & a few others. The only bread that tasted OK was puerquito. The rest of the bread did not taste right. Missing flavor. Did not taste like traditional bread they have at most bakeries. Not worth the $8 something I spent. Would have got tastier bread from FoodMaxx or El Super! Not going back :( read more
