I am so happy to have found Royal deli and Bakery Alejandro (I believe is his name) is the most sweetest man -extremely accommodating and he is very proud of his beautiful work, as he should be . This is the second time my shop has ordered a birthday cake for my staff, the first one was a carrot cake. This was a very special request of chocolate and banana. I am no professional baker by any means however, I bake and have done enough events to know that bakeries do not like to use fresh bananas because they brown easily. Royal Bakery was not scared. He provided a delicious moist chocolate cake with bananas and whipped cream, and the birthday girl was extremely pleased. when I had ordered the cake. I told him he had full creative control due to the whipped cream frosting I knew that adding any type of color would be difficult, but he came through for me as I had mentioned the birthday girl Very excited and pleased with how delicious the cake was. The whole staff was ranting and raving about how good it was this is my new go to Bakery. I have also tried some of his fresh baked cookies ,delicious very well executed and beautifully decorated. This is a very small establishment two display cases separated by his register with a couple of tables nestled inside it definitely gives independently owned and operated. Small but delicious packed with customer service place lol trust me order your cake here don't be scared to do out of the box orders as this gentleman seems classically trained with French pastry. This place was a total surprise! I found Royal Bakery off of Yelp and went down in person to talk to Alex. He was very friendly and helpful and I asked him if he could make a 1/2 sheet Carrot Cake with pecans instead of walnuts (due to allergies). He said "No problem, we offer that because a lot of people have walnut allergies.) Fast forward to getting the cake.. Holy Cow! was this thing absolutely delicious. It was for my wife's surprise birthday party. We had our family over and everyone said it's some of the best carrot cake they've ever had; I couldn't agree more. I needed 2 birthday cakes for a party I was going to in Santa Maria, CA... and I live in San Jose, Ca. I couldn't find a bakery I like in Santa Maria, so next best thing is find a bakery half way ... in Salinas. I found Royal Deli & Bakery online and gave them a call... 1 week before my party. I spoke with Alex, explained what I needed. He said to text him what I wanted and with a couple of pics. I called the next day and they confirmed they they would be able to make two custom cakes by the next Saturday ... amazing! I called the day before pickup, I was told they would be ready. When I arrived, I was greeted and welcomed by the friendly young man in the front and told him I was here to pick up my cakes. I was nervous and excited - hoping they came out the way I wanted them too ... a big ask for ordering custom cakes over the phone. As soon as I saw the cakes... I was floored. It was 2 weeks before her party & I had tried a different cake shop in the area to do the Pokémon cake I was requesting but said they couldn't do it because apparently they don't use fondant. Their variety of cakes is pretty astounding and their knowledge of cakes is quite impressive. They are very ambitious bakers yet their prices are very good considering the quality of work they do. They have been in the business for decades which is evident. The presentation of their cakes is not what you see on TV but the taste of their cakes makes up for it. They offer a passion fruit cake which is seasonal as you might imagine. They have a triple chocolate cake which was pretty good! I can't imagine a trip back to visit family without a stop at Park Row to pick up some treats. Alex and Olga of Royal Deli and Bakery were recommended to us by our coordinator (Kathy Kulper of Fabulous Weddings by Kathy). We made an appointment with Alex and Olga and they were able to squeeze us in on the same day about 2 months before our July wedding in Monterey. They brought out a selection of flavors to try. We sampled vanilla cake with strawberry filling, a white German cake with rum almond crunch filling, and another one that I don't remember. They were all AMAZING. We might have licked the plates clean. Oops. Alex and Olga make cakes fresh the night before the wedding with local and fresh ingredients. They obviously love what they do and are very talented. We eventually chose a 3 tiered cake with lavender piping and purple ribbon around each base. We went with the German white cake with the rum almond filling. They were already booked to deliver another cake to another wedding, but it was easy to arrange for a friend to pick up the cake from them. Our cake arrived looking absolutely lovely. It tasted even better. In fact, we have had more compliments on our cake then most other parts of the wedding (I'm not sure if that is a good thing). It was mouth-watering. Here are three reasons to chose Alex and Olga for your wedding cake: 1.) They are a small, family owned business that gives excellent customer service and provides fresh and quality cakes. 2.) Alex is a genius baker who makes every cake look like a piece of art and they taste even better. 3.) Our cake worked out to about $3.50 a slice, far less expensive than some of the other bakeries in Monterey Bay. With Alex and Olga, you can rest assured that you will get better than what you thought you paid for. These two are really fantastic! We had Royal Deli and Bakery design our wedding cake. We went for a rustic look, and they incorporated some of our burlap and flowers. We had shown them a picture of the cake we wanted (found on Pinterest) and they were able to replicate it to perfection. About 2 weeks before the wedding, we realized that we needed more cake because we had more people attending than we had anticipated. I went to Royal Bakery and told them the situation and they had no problem making two more cakes in addition to our original wedding cake. They thought this would be best so that we could have a few different flavors of cake for people to try. We had red velvet, carrot, chocolate with real raspberries, and white with real strawberries.
