I moved to Carmel early two years ago and have had my hair cut at different places throughout the area. My hair is thinning so it's not easy to cut it well but these guys (I've used two different barbers) have given me the best haircut I've had in years the three times I've been to this place. I like this place. I take my son here and Matt cuts his hair perfectly every time. I usually go to Matt or Jason. I've been to Andrew also. All three cut my hair great and I don't have to tell them how to cut it. I just want to go in, sit down and get a haircut. Andrew explained that they can do this by "taking six weeks off. ". I have heard other men come in and dictate how they want the cut, and the barbers listen and do exactly what they want. But for me, I don't really know what to say and they don't make me. It is a little pricey compared to other places ($25), but I don't get a better cut anywhere else. read more

Anyone who says differently are wannabe barber people that expect a frilly salon experience but want to be seen in a barbershop because they think it gives them hip swagger i.e. the lady who brought her BF in for a beard trim and cut. I took my boyfriend to this barber shop as a Christmas gift since he wanted a barber experience and to have someone trim up his beard nicely, but boy do I regret it. It was very clear that he has a beard it's not like he's a high schooler who's just starting to grow facial hair, so when the barber, Matt, took the buzzer straight to his face without asking you could understand the shock and anger that occurred. Since there's no going back from that he shaved his entire beard off and in the process cut his neck in multiple spots. Furthermore, when the haircut began my boyfriend had told him he wanted it shorter on the sides and a little longer on the top. When we left we noticed how uneven the haircut was on the sides and how terribly done it was. I could do a better job with a buzzer and I don't get paid to do that every day. It was a horrific experience and we will never be back again. Someone needs to teach these barbers how to cut hair and how to not cut off someone's beard read more

We took our almost 2-year-old son here, as local moms had recommended taking their toddler sons for their haircuts. Matt, the poor victim here, was incredibly patient with him despite my kid screaming his head off and flailing the entire time. He was very kid-friendly, and kept his cool the entire time my kid was screaming his head off (while mom and dad couldn't say the same). And after the grueling session was over, Matt didn't even charge us for the cut! I saw their beard and hair work on a guy walking down the street, I immediately knew there were some skill barbers wherever that guy got his haircut. I proceeded ask him if he pointed right up the street said he was going there right now for his kids. Even waiting for his two kids to get haircuts, the way it was a long and it was well worth it. Good razor work very nice clipper work and hand cutting as well. Nick cut my hair exactly how I wanted it and gave some good input into making it a little better. This place has they feel that a barbershop needs. Everything for your hair and your beard care and the skilled tattoo guys to make it my regular place. Took 3 boys to get haircuts my middle son has been growing his hair for several months and all these guys did was chop it off. It was extremely disappointing. I went in to get a nice haircut and beard trim/shave. After giving the initial idea of what I wanted the barber never really spoke to me again and never looked for feedback on the haircut, so ended up leaving it much shorter than I would have wanted. Now for the beard trim/shave. I really wanted a well defined beard neckline, as I struggle to do so myself. The barber used an electric razor to trim and create the beard and neckline. When I asked if they could clean shave the neck, I was informed that the specific barber wasn't certified to do that. When I later looked at the beard neckline done with the electric razor only, it was jagged and completely uneven. I came on looking for something nicer than great clips level, and came out with something substantially worse. read more

Andrew was extremely professional, and did a fine job cutting my side-part fade. He is very knowledgeable and experienced with cutting coarse, thick hair types. For $20, he not only cut my hair, but also did an eyebrow trim and hot neck shave. The team here really cares about the quality of their work. There has been a couple of barbers turn over in the past to move into other areas of the metro, but there are no egos there and new barbers work very well with the established ones. If a new barber doesn't quite get it right, the TEAM will work to help each other get a specific customer's cut in order.....without ego. I have lived in Carmel for 40 years, and have been to many barbers. Main Street Barber shop is quite simply the best Men's barber shop in Carmel. It's a bit of a throwback to the old school barber shops. The barbers are all professionally qualified, extremely friendly, and will go out of the way to make sure you are satisfied. The wait is never more 5-15 min, during which time you can watch one of their several big screen TV's while you wait (the guys just may put on your favorite show, or even a cartoon for the little ones). At $15, you can't beat it. I definitely recommend MSBS for anyone that wants to drop in, cut it up with some good guys (no pun intended), and be on your way. 5 stars:) read more

I feel like all of the barbers understand style and function and know how to find that balance. I usually give little to no instruction and I've always been pleased with the haircut I get. I went into main Street barber a few days ago for a haircut and a beard trim. I was greeted by a man named Andrew. He was a very inviting gentleman who was very intent on giving me the exact hair cut I wanted. His attention to detail was amazing and it left me with a fade and a beard trim/ line up that was nothing less than perfect.
