I made an appointment for my Toyota Sequoia to get the oil changed and a smog test. I dropped off the vehicle at 10 am. Just before noon was called to let me know it was finished. The last time I took the wife's Highlander to Toyota of Santa Maria for an oil change with an appointment. I waited at the stealership while they did they did whatever it is that took over three hours to finish. The Lube Tech is an entry level position in a dealership, with a limited amount of knowledge and no factory training whatsoever! The aforementioned is a true story. Stand there and watch their smog testing. I made the mistake of walking to Burger King to grab a burger and then returned to find they "failed" my car due to "White Smoke" without ever running a test. The smoke claim was B.S. but maybe they saw condensation, (or they wanted another smog fee). Anyway, i took my car from there to another smog station, witnessed the testing and it passed with no issues. All i can figure, (since i've never seen any type of smoke from my exhaust), is that they can game the system by failing the car without testing it and then they get another smog fee to retest or they get paid to perform unnecessary repairs. I years and never had any problems until last week, I made an Appointment to smog my wife GMC terrain. I drove the car there and my brakes were fine until I leave that gas station and I got to the second traffic light on my way to the freeway, I applied the brakes and it traveled all the way down has if there was air in the line. Some how they manage to let air in my wife's SUV brake line. I was not sure of how they or he did it in so short time, so I went on YouTube to find out the many way to get air in the brake lint from the master cylinder, because, that was the are where the you man was working on my vehicle during the song test. The last time I had to do a smog Check on a vehicle was years ago and as I remember it was time consuming and the place I went to left a lot to wish for. This time around I did some research before choosing a place and ultimately decided to give this place a try. Stopped by yesterday and they were pretty booked and since I was short on time I made an appointment for today at 10:00 am. The lady at the counter reminded me about the yelp coupon and to not forget to to use it when I was ready to pay. I asked her how long it would take and she said about 15-20 minutes. Today I took my vehicle in and I was there five minutes early. The technician told me to park my car right in front of the roll up door and that it would be about 20 minutes so I decided to go across the street and get me a coffee. By the time I came back my vehicle was ready. At the register I used the yelp coupon and paid $24.95 for the smog check (total bill was $34 and change but included the $8.00 for the certificate and tax) otherwise I would have ended up with a bill of almost $50. Overall it was a great experience. Staff were all friendly. Was in and out within 30 minutes and the coupon was very useful.
