Took our almost two-year old husky here for his yearly check-up and shots. Scheduling was a breeze. The staff was very friendly over the phone and was transparent about the costs. We arrived on a Thursday morning. Ample parking available behind the building. Poop bags and trash cans were available in the parking lot. We were immediately greeted upon walking in. We were about 5-10 minutes early, and they let us know that they were getting a room ready for us. The wait wasn't long at all. The clinic was clean. The techs were very professional and knowledgeable. They explained what to expect from today's visit and that Dr. Goodwin would be seeing us. Dr. Goodwin was wonderful. She, too was very knowledgeable. She was very familiar with huskies because she grew up with them. She answered all of our questions about husky care as well as pet insurance. Don't get me wrong, every vet I have been to has taken great care of my dogs but Main Street just takes the cake. The staff are phenomenal, making sure your pets feel safe and comfortable while they are being treated. {{Update}} I really have to thank the wonderful staff for allowing me to drop Sugar off at 5:55pm when cut off time is 5:30pm a couple weekends ago. I was stuck back a really bad wreck & had called to let them know I couldn't make it but they told me if I could get there by 6 to come on, if not just bring her the next day. We were very grateful. Very pleased that they don't like letting pets hang out up front, they immediately take you & fur baby to a room. Definitely cuts down on anxiety for my Sugar. The staff including FrontDesk, Dr Assistants and the Drs have refined the ability to provide completely professional services while being extremely informal enough to make our puppy and us feel welcome and extremely important. Example: Seems like a minor item to complete the Boards each visit with the care providers names but combined with the information on the monitors in the rooms, allows us to know who is providing the care and become familiar with the Team and their backgrounds. We searched for somewhere in the area that was open first thing in the morning and we are so happy we found this place they are all wonderful. From the moment we arrived you knew that they truly cared. The tech went above and beyond with information and samples and suggestions for things we didn't even come to have looked at, the care and kindness was wonderful. I would drive 7 hours just to have my fur babies treated here any time. The doctor even followed up personally a weeks later to make sure everything was going well. We love Main Street Veterinary Hospital! All of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Plus the hours are convenient for working families and appointments are easy to make. We rescued a dog a couple of months ago, and he has had his share of health problems. Both my husband and I love that the staff will patiently listen to our concerns and then teach us how to best provide his follow-up care. It's taken a while to write this review. Main Street Vet is HORRIBLE! We visited MSV last July because our cat Linus wasn't feeling well. He was 17 years old and had some issues with his kidneys. the visit was awful! The place smelled like a chemical factory and Doctor Hoe was very rough with Linus. The following week was hell for Linus - throwing up, diarrhea, peeing everywhere but the box, hardly eating or moving, etc. The following months weren't much better. We had to put puppy pads everywhere. We finally had to let our dear Linus go this past march. We were/are devastated! We ended up having him put down at North Meck Animal Hospital. They were GREAT there - very gentle and caring. They treated us and Linus with care and compassion. We will NEVER give any more business to Main Street Vet. read more

My review is strictly on the grooming. As far as the vets and people who work there they are great. The latest grooming of my toy poodle was just plain awful. To top it off it cost $50. They did a shoddy job the one before but this one was so bad I couldn't even speak. I just paid and left. I was disgusted. Her ears are lopsided and she is uneven everywhere. .I followed Dr Goodwin from her prior practice in Denver NC.Even though the practice is not close to my home, she, and her partners are the only vets I will use for all of my furbabies and rescues. She helped my best friend, Gabby through her final years, with a kindness and caring attitude that is so hard to find. Saying goodbye was hard, but done with respect, dignity and love. Transitioning to a foster rescue, then on to my furever dog has been a great experience. Moved to Cornelius 2 years ago. My husband took our dog for the initial appointment. They told him our dog needed teeth cleaning, a root canal and possible tooth extraction. When I came back with my dog a vet was suppose to show me which teeth needed treatment, front desk had no knowledge of this. We have been back for routine visits and nothing has been mentioned and we have not seen a vet since initial visit. Always a nurse. The worst Vetenerians ever! Walked in and was nicely greeted by the front desk. Was then taken with my dog to our room to wait for the vet. A nurse comes in and starts asking for my records (I had already emailed them in) but I pull them out and give them to her. She then starts asking why my dog is late on one of her shots. I said well we moved and I hadn't found a vet yet. She gives me a very rude look and then starts going down this list of all this stuff my dog """needs""" and after her saying about the 5th thing (we are now up to $300-400) I said my dog is very healthy I'm here for 1 shot I want to speak to the vet. The vet comes in and is friendly but she then immediately just starts trying to get me to purchase teeth cleaning for my dog. I told her again I am not here for that my dog doesn't do well with that and I am not putting her to sleep. She then says my dogs anal glands need checking so I said okay she checks them and it got messy she leaves the room and is laughing in the hallway about my dog. The nurse comes back in and is still insisting on cleaning my dogs teeth saying she runs the Anastesia (like that would make me feel better about it) HA! I said no again. My poor dog is shaking so bad at this point she was probably traumatized from the experience. That nurse needs a new attitude if she is going to work in a vet with better bedside manner. Will never be back here. P.s. the only reason this vet has so many 5 stars is because in each room they say on a sign if you give us 5 stars we will give you a free gift. If you are in Cornelius or Davidson this is the place to go!! Our Bassett/German Shepherd "Pippy" loves Dr. Hoe. He is a bit old and a little wobbly, but MSVH and Dr. Hoe made him feel calm while dealing with some really difficult neck pain he was experiencing. What we thought was a big issue Dr. Hoe explained was just a minor one. With some pain relieving medication and some rest Pippy is now all better and back to his normal self playing with our young kids. Now I just have to figure out if the the yummy bread or cake out front that I ate was for me or the dog?? :-] read more
