I am giving Family Eye Care a Five Star Rating! I have been…read morea customer for 3 years now and always look forward to my appointment. Dr Kandra is so nice and knowledgeable.. she listens carefully to my concerns and always has a plan laid out for me. Scott and Jonathan are great too! They make me feel so special when I come in and are helpful with insurance concerns as well as helping me find new glasses! Ohhh and the glasses!! Can I say the best selection ever!!!! I love being able to reach out and having a person to talk with about my glasses and when I say on mine.. yes, I did‍ I had a new pair in no time!! 5 all the way!

Family Eye Care is a great place for your optometry needs. Since the Connell's retirement, Juliann…read moreKandra has taken over the practice, and she is such a gem. She is incredibly nice and makes you feel comfortable about getting your eyes checked. My four stars are solely directed towards her and her work. If I were to rate my overall experience, I would probably give it three stars. The woman who takes you for pretest before your examination, I forget her name, is slightly rude. For instance, when doing the pressure test, I have a really hard time keeping my eyes open to get an accurate reading. When I went today, she had to retake the test numerous times and I could hear her heavy breathing and annoyance each time, which didn't help an already stressful situation. When she asked me questions, it felt rushed and like her mind was elsewhere. It just made for a stressful experience. Lastly, when ordering contacts or trying to schedule an appointment, it can be a challenge to reach them, and even after leaving a voicemail, sometimes you don't get a call back. Overall, the service of Juliann trumps the lack of customer service from the other workers, which is why I rate it four stars. If they could fix some of the those bumps, Family Eye Care could be really, really great in all aspects.

She was so professional and thorough making sure I understood everything. The techs were also great. Engaging and funny and very knowledgeable as well. What could have been stressful, was easy. I can't say enough about what a pleasant experience it was.

Unfortunately, I have had a pretty frustrating experience with this office. I went in originally…read morefor a long over due exam. It was an odd experience but I did not think much of it. Dr. Turrisi brought her small dog into my appointment without my permission. The dog had just come from the vet's office for some sort of procedure and was heavily medicated. Dr. Turrisi was very focused on the dog (as a pet owner I would have been too, which is also why I noted the unprofessionalism as odd but let it go). We got through the exam, and I asked about contact lenses. She advised me to where my glasses for a bit and then call back if I am still interested in contact lenses. She did not advise on a timeline and in retrospect I should have asked. I moved on and ordered my new glasses. After a few months, I decided I was still interested in contact lenses, so I called to set up the necessary appointment. I was told that I did not call back within 3 months so I would need another exam out of pocket. It was a few days over that allotted time. (To be clear this is their policy, which I understand as prescriptions do change but most insurance companies only pay for one exam a year). I am not upset about the policy, I am upset about the communication and lack of professionalism that followed. I was told she would check but it should be fine and I will receive a text message confirming my appointment. She quoted me for the fitting and the prescription at $155 with some help for my insurance. 10 days later I receive a text message letting me know I am scheduled for the exam and the other necessary items and that I will have to pay an additional $185 for an exam. I again called and was told, oh no the exam is not necessary since its is only a few days past that 3 months in our policy. I was also told that the person sending the text message works from home and she just doesn't see what we see here in the office. That was good enough for me. Today was supposed to be my appointment. I received a text at 9:30 saying my appointment was a half hour later than my original appointment. I was confused , so I yet again called and was told, my exam is first and then that is my second appointment for the fitting. I went back and forth with the receptionist who I know was just doing her job but was not helpful. When I stated that it just seemed like that were trying to get more money from me, she got upset with me and asked me to stop talking to her like that. I then spoke to the office manager who checked with the doctor who said she would see me but still would charge an additional $55 for a refraction which was necessary for the prescription. I am not an eye doctor and I am sure it would be necessary but it wasn't about the additional $55 or even the $185. The whole experience was pretty negative. I am fortunate enough to have health insurance and really the contact lenses are just a want and not a need. There really seems to be break down in communication in their office and the need to make money and their own personal lives seems to be more important than the care of their patients.
