That's not an easy thing; he lived with my wife and me for the previous 12 years. The people at HillHouse are wonderful; they seem to have endless patience with the residents. They all pay attention. Any time I call, whoever answers the phone always seems to know how Dad is doing, what kind of day he's had and so on. It's amazing. Honestly, I don't know what I would have done if I had not found HillHouse when Dad needed more care than we could provide.

I have mixed feelings about this place. When I was able to visit her, I saw things that did not…read moreappeal to me, but my mothers memory was so bad by the time she got here, she didn't seem to notice things, but I noticed how some of the help was very gruff with the patients and that the food was minimal and not always easy to eat. For example, the patients would be given a piece of chicken that wasn't cut up. They had no knife to cut it so they would try to cut it with a fork and couldn't. None of the help seemed to notice. In this case, my mother didn't eat the chicken because she couldn't cut it up. My mother died alone. The last week or two she was given shots every couple of hours to sedate her. I was there...just a couple of miles away, and no one let me know that she was going to die within hours. Not her caretakers and not the facility. When I arrived the next morning to visit her, she was dead. No one knew it until I notified them because she was left alone when I could have been there with her. It breaks my heart that she died alone. As her personal rep, I reached out to the facility a month later to get a refund for the last half of the month that she had paid for. I was told her estate wouldn't get her money by the Director although I found paperwork on the government website that stated the refund should be given when the patient leaves. The lawyer even sent a letter to the facility encouraging them to refund the money. They did not respond. I expect they do that to everyone which is so wrong. It wasn't about the money. It's just not a fair practice which is why I'm writing this review. I can't afford to pay a lawyer to chase after $800! Clearly it would cost me more than that to do so. I wonder how many others have had a similar experience. Perhaps this complaint will make me feel just a little bit better and hope that the facility will change for the better in the future for someone else.

My grandparents were not happy about moving into an…read moreassisted living facility, but reluctantly decided to make the move here to be closer to family, as my aunt and uncle live in Boothbay. We recently went for a visit, and I must say that this is some fine living! I'm ready to retire and hit it up. It doesn't hurt that it is in such a beautiful community as Boothbay Harbor. I'm looking forward to going back for another visit with my grandparents now that the leaves are beginning to fall. The facility offers full apartments with nice sunrooms for the residents, and it is a dog friendly community as well. You can also get a shuttle to take you most anywhere you might need to go, and the grocery store and pharmacy are right around the corner. There is also covered parking available for residents that choose to bring a car. This would be a five star living establishment if they would make the dog exercise area a little bit bigger. Oh well, I guess I should just be happy they have one.

She loved the social aspects...sitting by the fireplace talking with friends, sharing meals with others, exercise classes and Bingo. The care, meals and activities provided a balance for her happiness. Her care was exceptional. The staff were personal, caring and compassionate. They took the time and really got to know her and her likes and needs. Mom's last days of life were spent at BaySquare. It was so comforting for her to be there, at home, with people she knew and loved caring for her. BaySquare nursing staff treated her with great dignity and supported our family in this time of need. As a family member, there is nothing I would change about my mother's experience at BaySquare.

I can't say enough kind things about the staff or the care she received. They clearly loved her and worked with her even though she could be quite trying at times. The staff were wonderful to our family too - very kind and supportive and communicative. She finally (after 6 months) made the move to a dementia facility this past week and the staff continues to check with me to see how she's adjusting. I cannot recommend Oak Grove highly enough!

Then of course the volunteers and the people who come regularly to help the residents. There is a walking path by the pond, with raised beds and benches along the paved walking path. Inside the residents can play the piano in one of the sitting areas, enjoy a sit by the fire, a cup of coffee in the cafe, or a game of ping pong! There are weekly movie nights, card games, painting and crafts, as well as pool table alongside corn-hole! They have a family/friends breakfast every month! So if a loved one is seeking assisted living Sunnybrook is as good, as it gets in the greater Brunswick area.

I was so relieved and happy when I visited Woodlands the first time and every time since then. The staff is cheerful and engaged, which is the most important factor. The director is extremely caring and communicative and that attitude is shared by everyone who works there. The architectural space is beautiful, with tons of windows and beautiful plants to look at out of every window. The courtyard is huge with lots of seating areas. The residents have run of the entire building which gives them a sense of freedom compared to other memory units I've seen. I also like that there's a good gender balance amongst the residents. Woodlands has a social activity director and the residents have all kinds of activities to keep them engaged and entertained. I am so lucky to have found such a great place for my dad!
