Sure, Amazon has it too and all that but I figured it made a good excuse to come out to Freeport and get HP sauce and maybe a couple other things. Tea drinkers and jelly lovers will have quite a time here. The shop is quite small and very much a gift shop. A bit peculiar to have in Freeport, Maine, maybe... but nevertheless there were a lot of worthless trinkets that could have easily been purchased. But I limited myself to just three items. They knew a lot about the items in the store and anything they were unsure of they found more information for me. The building itself is beautifully designed and a staple of Freeport history. My only concern was that my older mother had a difficult time getting up the large concrete stairs because there's no handicap-friendly entrance. However, our experience inside Abacus was wonderful. Sharon was my go to person and she has been retired for several years now. Brown's has moved their location from a side street in Freeport to Main Street. I was there for the first time in several years to buy a pearl drop necklace for a recent graduate. My limit for spending was 1000.00. The selection was small but that was okay. The graduate was with me and we both found one that she really liked. She wanted white gold and it was shown in yellow. The person helping us was so pushy. The graduate has just barely tried it on and the person asked if she could wrap it up for us. We told her that we wanted white gold and she didn't know if it came in white gold. She said she would find out while we were at lunch. We never went back. Also a note for the owner. One of the pieces we were interested in was a necklace with a single pearl resting on a curved gold bar. We both loved the necklace but it wasn't centered on the bar. It wasn't a piece made there I guess but someone should have inspected it before it was put on display. The atmosphere was different in the new building, not the elegance that I experienced in the old building. Hope that you do okay and that your brand is something the traffic can tolerate.
