They give you facts if you want, a neat idea

I came here specifically for the moose. We wanted to see one for our Maine vacation. It was very cute. We did get to see it up close for a couple of minutes before he walked back to his little home in the far back. The park is okay. I liked it wasn't crowded. The price was fair. I wish they had more animals, many enclosures didn't have any creatures. I'm not sure if they all died or what. There was some educational signage but wish there was more. Best exhibit was the raccoons. They were trying to reach at something out of their enclosure. Their little hands grabbing were so cute. I'm not sure what they were trying to get. Acorns ? My kids favorite was probably the hatchery fish. There is a quarter machine you can buy food pellets. When thrown in, the fish attack like piranha! It's so funny. The kids loved that. The lady who collected the turtles to take them inside for the night was a sweetheart, answering any and all questions. Thank you for a good memory.

They house animals while they are being g rehabilitated and/or house them permanently if they are unable to survive in the wild

My sweet in-laws knew that I really wanted to see a moose while in Maine, so they brought my husband and I to Maine Wildlife Park! Maine Wildlife Park is located in Gray, Maine and houses and cares for animals (either permanently or temporary) while they are being rehabilitated. It's super affordable with the highest price of admission being $10. Walking around this peaceful zoo, there are also plenty of picnic areas, benches, bathrooms and snack stands. I loved seeing the bald eagle, albino dear, black bears...and Byron the Moose! Goodness if you could've heard me squeal with excitement...don't worry, Byron wasn't bothered! There are also a lot of educational components - fun facts, various pelts you can feel (I'm sure they died of natural causes), games, etc. I'll definitely be back to visit Byron and the others the next time we're in Maine!

Very neat wildlife park where the animals can't be let back into the wild. They have many different animals including bears, moose, birds, and deer. They also have educational talks about different Maine Wildlife. It was 10 dollars to get in and you can stay as long as you like. Cool place!

Love it here! $10 for adult entry and it's a self guided tour, grab a map at the entry gate and get started! We have been multiple times and always love seeing the animals but Byron the moose is our favorite! There's plenty of picnic tables for lunch under plentiful pines, they have a small store to get sandwiches and snacks from, they also have ice cream! Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area, wear good walking shoes as there's quite a bit of walking involved.

We visited Maine Wildlife Park on a Friday around lunch time. There was a lot of cars in the parking lot but the park was not crowded. We were able to walk right in and start exploring. We were really impressed by how Maine Fish and Wildlife takes care of the animals who can't live in the wild anymore. The animals all looked healthy and well-cared for. We were able to get up close to many of the animals, including moose, bears, mountain lions, and lynx. Our two children under 6 really enjoyed their experience. They loved seeing all the animals up close. There is a huge picnic area when you walk in, so it would be great for bringing lunch for the family. We would definitely recommend Maine Wildlife Park to anyone who is interested in learning more about Maine's wildlife. It is a great place to take the family for a day of fun and education. Pros: Well-cared for animals Up-close animal encounters Picnic area Educational Cons: Some exhibits were not open yet (opening day) Can be crowded on weekends Overall: We had a great time at Maine Wildlife Park and would definitely recommend it to others.

I cant believe I forgot to review, we had such a great time here. The Hub and I took our grandson here this summer. This is not a zoo. It was as clean as any anamal park can be. The Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. There is a snack bar where you can get drinks, light snacks and ice-cream. A large picnic area is close to the entra nce. All of the anamals are rescued and would not be able to survive in the wild. The exhibits are clearly marked and informative. The trails flow nicely from one to the other. Seating is nicely placed throughout for us old farts to rest up. I believe most if not all exhibits are wheelchair accessible. We had a great time there and built some sweet memories.

This was beautiful, relaxing, so in other words, very 'Maine.' We loved it from start to finish. We went on a beautiful, autumn weekday morning and felt like we had the place to ourselves. The piney smell in the air with the trees turning were everything, but add in all the animals being rehabilitated here and it was perfect. Some highlights included: - The black bears who were fed with a little slingshot that launches a bowl of food to them - The moose, both male and female. I realized I've never actually seen a moose in person, and my god they're huge and amazing to look at - The albino raccoon, another new sighting for me after three decades plus on this planet There was something so simple and nice about this place. We love the San Diego and KC Zoos, and all the big destinations, but the fact is this is a more remote, leisurely, relaxing wildlife area that was just what we needed. It's especially perfect if you have small kiddos as they can run around while being entertained by the animals.

Unfortunately it was a very hot day so the animals were mainly asleep or hiding in the shade or caves. But it seems like a well run facility, and the landscaping (done by local volunteer gardeners) is lovely. For a $7.50 entrance fee for seniors, it was worth a stop for an hour or so.

You can't leave Maine without seeing a moose and sadly these fellas are fairly elusive. The Maine Wildlife park is a simple solution. Set up similarly to a zoo, the park features indigenous animals who are rescued and recuperating or unable to return to the wild and fend for themselves. The entry fee is more than reasonable and the park well kept. COVID-19 restrictions and precautions are evident everywhere with headsets temporarily put up and one way traffic throughout the park. The animals are well cared for and the current resident moose magnificent. Great way to end our trip and to support the wildlife efforts.

Really nice park, everything is clean and the animals are well cared for. The fish hatchery with my 1 year old was probably the best part and you can feed the fish (make sure to bring quarters). If your around definitely worth a couple hours to look at local wildlife up close.

We stopped here on our way up to Bar Harbor. It's a nice little place. Some great animals...the kids really enjoyed seeing the moose, bears, and the big cats. It took us about 2 hours to see and do everything. Fresh air and exercise too. All good stuff. Glad we stopped

It was sad and depressing to see. This place use to be a lot better. Almost all the enclosures are empty as well.

Fun place to visit and learn about Maine wildlife. Mountain Lion Pass is the most economical way to go multiple times each season.

    Is there RV parking?

yes there is generally plenty of parking room for RVs; altho there is no designated spot; if you are coming on a very busy weekend like the Pow Wow, Aug 11-12, it may be more difficult to find a spot.

    Are pets allowed?

This is a special place... a farm on a hill with their own farm shop featuring glass-bottled milk, sandwiches, and most importantly... Ice Cream ! Starting mid-April or so, they open up "The Barnyard" which is a nice little petting zoo for the kids... and occasionally a "Goat Yoga" spot for adults... which is just so uniquely crazy it almost makes me wish I did yoga. Not into yoga...? I get you. Lucky for us, they also have a hardware store / lumber yard, so you could feasibly come for Mocha Chip and stay for the 4x4 milled posts, and that's not an experience you'll soon get at a national big-box lumber store. Or a Baskin Robbins, for that matter. This place is an experience. The farm is gorgeous, the staff are friendly, the animals are fun, the lumber yard is definitely there, and the product... well that's where it's at... it's excellent. There are a few working dairy farms like this one dotted around the state, and I encourage you to check out each and every one. Smiling Hill Farm is that extra special sort of place, where it's only a few miles drive outside of Portland, but it feels worlds away and it's so, so worth the effort to get to. They also have ready-to-go quarts in the freezer, their various dairy offerings, and rotating, seasonal farm shop fare. Support your local farmers! Also... I've found the local barn cats to be super friendly and just a treat to hang with. YMMV

This is a fun amusement park with rides for small children like going to a carnival- they have bumper carts and go carts. They have camel and pony rides for extra costs too! Upon entry we were a little confused as to where the action was, after speaking with the Butterfly lady we headed past the wetlands of ducks- we made it to the coolest part of the zoo! The MAINE attractions include monkeys, sloths, ostriches, reindeers, ravens, foxes, Kookaburras, zebras, lemurs, deer, geese, large blue pigeon, owls, Asian otter, Ankole cattle, chickens, goats, ducks, alligators, kangaroos, prairie dogs, and a lioness and tiger!! They have a butterfly kingdom filled with lovely plants and butterflies and a reptile area filled with tarantulas, snakes, frogs. Our favorite parts were feeding the birds for $2.50! What a fun experience! The birds were so friendly and loved eating from the popsicle stick with seeds! Then we were able to feed the goats, deer and ducks! The baby deer was SO CUTE and the animals are adorable and come right up to you. We were OVERJOYED that we had the ENTIRE zoo to ourselves cause it was raining but the monkeys were still going wild and howling! It was so much fun! Also Moxie is my favorite animal- she is three years old and is a beautiful Tiger. She sat right in front of us and was majestic to appreciate- she is a calm tiger. All the animals are taken care for and we are so glad we made the stop today! It was $18 per person and honestly had a blast. Great for visiting in the summer and early September as they close September 21! Next year they will have a Capybara! We also stopped by the gift shop and got some eco friendly Tiger and Giraffe totes for $5! Very affordable place perfect for young families and fun for children.
