She didn't eat for 2 days when we got home which was terrifying. She finally became comfortable eating and is NOT a "picky eater". She'd never been to the vet even tho she was emaciated and dehydrated. I took her immediately. Also, she'd probably never been outside before. She was terrified of the outdoors. She's terrified of people and she's a Lhasa poo, absolutely not normal. Why so scared of people? What did you do to her? And now because she is so fearful of people, noises and the outdoors, she jumped out of my van and ran away. And now she is lost, scared and doesn't trust people to let herself be saved. I adopted an adorable puppy in July 2024 (she was born 4/1/2024) and she did have some problems on her first vet visit within 10 days of picking her up. I felt the place appeared to be well run and clean, NOT a puppy mill at all. She did, however, have Giardia and ear infections identified at this first vet visit and they said they would refund expenses for these conditions, but I haven't heard back from them. I had a very good experience here getting my new Chiweenie puppy. I wasn't expecting a lot considering the reviews were not great. However, I found the place to be surprisingly clean and the owner is very nice. It was a very easy process. I asked to see the dogs I specifically wanted to see and they were happy to bring them out for me. I fell in love with my dog instantly. She was clean and happy.... as were all the other dogs I saw. I'm thankful for this place considering it's very difficult to get a puppy in New England. The price was not terribly high either. Don't assume it's a "puppy mill" just because they have a bunch of puppies. My new puppy is an angel! She was six months old when I purchased her and she clearly was a very happy dog and not abused. read more

As soon as I walked in this place it's was filthy the smell would knock you over!!! The puppies were dirty matted fur and there eyes were red and crusty :( Some of the pups were shivering in fear One of the pups had green diarrhea and you can tell by how dirty they were and see yellow urine stains on there paws and legs that they were left in there small crates peeing and pooping all over them self. So sad I am home sick and worried about those poor babies. I have know idea how this place has any good reviews? I'm thinking they are using other peoples names and writing fake reviews to get there ratings up ! Because anyone you has any knowledge of buying a puppy from a true breeder would no the difference. I agree with what the other 1-star reviewers are saying; I was there and saw how the dirty conditions would cause concern in most people who love dogs. On the other hand, I am trying to be understanding of the fact that many families cannot afford to pay $1,500 to $3,000 for a family pet when purchasing directly from a small independent breeder. And in this aspect, the Owner is providing a way for many families to own a fur baby. In this trailer store, the owner works alone - no staff. So, it must be overwhelming to keep up with all the many tasks involved with keeping 30+puppies. Therefore, I grant that the Owner has his hands full. However, he could be more conscious of keeping things cleaner. And, he could reduce the number of puppies he keeps in the store. Please draw a line between making a living and profiteering. Despite this, I want people to go there and take a puppy home - to rescue a precious little life from those dirty cages & blankets, and hamster-type drip water bottles instead of water bowls (some pups seemed to not understand how the spigot works and may become dehydrated). In addition, there is not proper air circulation for the stacked-cage area when the door is closed -- the temp in the trailer seems overly warm which makes the smell of the urine worse (ammonia). Then in the front room - the plexi-glass "boxes" have only 2 air holes each in the backing board. I worry about respiratory and mucus membrane effects to the puppies; especially the toy breeds with short snouts. Most importantly, after a puppy has been there over 2 months, the Owner should really discount the price in order to move the puppy to a normal home, so it will not have adjustment/bonding issues, which just complicates the adopted family's life immensely. This means more hard work for the adopted family to house-train those little guys. My wish-prayer is for the Owner to be more mindful of cleanliness. Perhaps if enough people gently, kindly remind the Owner of this, he'll change. Let's start by sending some clean baby blankets to this store, and some clean play toys for the puppies. If puppies must be sold in pet stores, let's do what it takes to minimize the trauma of starting out like they have to in a pet store. read more

We purchased a beautiful little Yorkie-poo in mid- March from this store. We were told and records they wrote up indicate, she was born in July of 2023. Making her 8 months old at the time of purchase. On our first Vet visit, May 21st, we were told that our puppy already has stained teeth and cataracts in her beautiful eyes, having the possibility of becoming blind. Indications she may be older then we were told. She is petrified of everything. She is so full of anxiety that we are unable to train her to go outside to defecate and urinate. She is not able to walk on a leash as of yet and we have tried over and over again. We have to carry her to the outside to try to get her to relieve herself and then she just darts to the door to go back in. She then does her business on the furniture or floor, wherever she chooses. She did not even know how to jump onto furniture. We had to teach her how. She has had NO socialization at all and is a real challenge to train. Remind you, she is now almost 11 months old. This should not be and is not normal. Unfortunately for us we did not know their reputation until it was to late. I will NEVER recommend Mainely Puppies to anyone. read more

The good: The website was great to navigate and they offered a lot of puppies to look into. We had been looking for a puppy for a month or so and saw a few options at this location and we're excited to make the journey to come see our options. We put a deposit on one dog because we were nervous that they might sell given the way the owner was talking about him on the phone. The owner was patient with us on the phone while we decided to put the deposit down (which we definitely appreciate). We drove two hours to make this appointment and when we arrived, the pup we had deposited was out playing with another pup. The woman working was really nice and helped us see multiple dogs in the play area. The selection of toys and other materials was really well organized and they had a great variety! The bad: Of course where there is puppies, there is urine and poop. We expected that going into this. So I'd like to note that there was a heavy urine and poop smell throughout the place. If it were just a smell, it would have been fine. Unfortunately, it was more than that. The dogs themselves were dirty to handle. It was clear that they hadn't been thoroughly washed in quite some time. They had darkened chunks around their eyes as well. The dogs skins were red where the fur ended and looked rashy. Their eyes were strained and bloodshot as well. Some dogs were playful while others were scared (which is just how some dogs are so we were expecting that). But there was one dog that was petrified. He was frozen and shaking, with red eyes and red irritated skin. He pooped when I held him (the woman said I could hold him) and he wasn't wiped down afterwards (the poop smudged into my leg and onto his behind). He wasn't wiped, I was offered a wipe or anything to clean my leg and she told me to just let the poop drop off my leg onto the floor. She did clean it up off the floor but the dog was just plopped back into the play pin without cleaning. It was clear where the smell in the room came from at this point - improper clean up. I was in shock and so was my family but we decided that maybe it was just a mistake and we tried to stay longer to see how the puppies were reacting. Unfortunately, it became clear that they were just not bathed well enough and perhaps not exposed enough to handling due to how they reacted to people near them. A few even cowered away from us all together. Overall, we had high expectations for a breeder charging 1800 for a dog with a 200 dollar nonrefundable, non transferable deposit. We expected a clean, thorough, fun environment for the many many puppies they had. And this place is just not that. It left us questioning if the age of the dogs were accurate (since none of the dogs we saw looked anything like the pictures). In fact, she even said that the pictures weren't up to date. The dogs were older than marked on the website. We also left questioning if these pups were being cared for properly and how valid their statements about these dogs were. While most of the dogs were playful, their needs are not being met at this location. Please consider this when looking into purchasing a pup here. read more

I purchased what they told me was a purebred Yorkie without papers in early September 2019. The cost was $1,400. As my puppy grew and began to look like a different breed, I decided to send in a dog DNA sample. The results show my pup is 37.5% Yorkie!!! He is also, 25% miniature schnauzer, and 10% miniature poodle. The remaining 25% is a mixture of other breeds. I love my puppy, but I paid a ridiculous price for basically a mutt. So for about two months I have been debating about getting my mother a dog for her birthday, She has stated she wanted one and since taxes came in I figured I could afford to get her a puppy. But as I was looking I came to the realization that what she needed was a dog not a new puppy. I told him of the back ground as to why I was looking and that she is coming up this week to spend a few days, so I figured I could surprise her with a dog, I let the owner know that I was still deciding I had a few other pictures to take and send.So I enlisted my sister in law who lives right down the road from her and interacts with her daily. I wanted to find out if she found this particular puppy likable. So I sent her the picture I took and she did like it so I was prepared to purchase the dog, My brother actually was going to pick another dog that appeared to come form the same bloodline; who was born last June. So I was prepared to leave a deposit and pick both dogs up on Saturday. I stopped in today and was taking a video / pictures of the same dog. The owner came over so I asked him if this particular dog hadn't had a lot of human interaction as the dog kept running to the corner then coming to the front of the cage when I was walking away; and told me that he didn't appreciate me taking video/ pictures. I asked him why? he said that it wasn't fair to the dog. I reminded him that my mother was in New Hampshire and I was sending her the pictures. He became very rude and said he didn't appreciate pictures being taken. Since they have a website with the dogs on it I didn't understand, If I was going to invest that much money I definitely wanted my mothers approval. So I didn't waste any more time, I grumbled then keep the dog and walked out . He did look at me in a shocked kind of way so it made me think, after taking to my husband I realized that he was not taking very good care of his dogs as it was Sunday and the cage had feces and urine in it. I would assume he got a little nervous and didn't want anyone to judge his business on the looks of the cage. So I only wished that I could upload the short video I do have and the few pictures that I have on my phone. but It doesn't see that this site lets you do that. Pups were stacked on top of one another in cages and they were all yapping and scared. The only Cockapoo was older and honestly didn't look that healthy - mentally or physically. I felt so badly for the animals there! The prices were very high and I was not able to see the pup's mother - that was an instant red flag for me. I was visiting Maine and had passed the store a few days previous and decided to check it out. As a dog lover I was excited to see the pups but instantly heartbroken the moment I walked through the door. The pups were crying for attention, some were hand shy and retreated to the back of their small wire cages. Pups were sucking on fingers as if not properly weaned or taken away from the mom too early. Many of the pups appeared to have runny eyes and didn't look clean. It was sad to see puppies in a state of anxiety, fearful, and sick. The store had puppy mill broker written all over it. $1300 for a Yorkie, a breed that can have some serious health issues. Doubt you get a medical history, or much of a health guarantee. I wanted to comfort them all but had to leave overwhelmed by the puppies sad situation. No matter how cute or "healthy" a puppy might be from this store, people should NOT buy any animal from here! It is a legit puppy mill. My husband and I stopped by last weekend and it was absolutely horrific. There are two rooms of crates stacked from floor to ceiling with 2-3 puppies per crate. The smell is horrible too. I estimate that there are at least 70 puppies in this store NOT including the dogs used for breeding. My parents bought a puppy from Steve 9 years ago (when it was still out of his house and we weren't aware of the breeding circumstances) and their puppy had a TAPE WORM. Poor thing! We visited the store twice and the gentleman running the place was very nice and gave us a ton of good information. We were a little concerned because it is a pet store and there are a lot of puppies there, but he assured us that they come from a local kennel and they all seemed happy and healthy to us.
