Went here for copies of my motorcycle key. It can be tricky to get bike keys cut, but not so here. FWIW Yelpers the bike is a 2008 CBR600, and I think they have blanks for most other modern bikes. Keys worked great first time, service was very friendly, and they told me I could get a full refund if the keys didn't work. Can't ask for better than that! read more

Excellent and timely service, if pricey! Locked myself out of my apartment on my way to the gym. Gave them a call as soon as they opened and they told me the soonest someone could come was 20 min (he made it in 30!). Very friendly and professional, the employee took 5 min to open the door with a device that pulls the handle on the inside (no damage to lock or door and my old keys still work). I'm a bit annoyed at the price ($131) for the effort but having called a few similar services before choosing Mainline they seem to be within the standard range (if slightly above) - and to be honest I'm just mad I locked myself out... These guys are amazing, and totally 5 star worthy. A few weeks ago, they came out to fix our front door - the mechanism that slows the door from slamming was not slowing it. So we were getting lots of slamming. Not cool. They were on time, fixed it quickly, showed us how to fix it ourselves next time, and the cost was very reasonable. Fast forward a few weeks, and we had run into a problem with the lock on our front door. We had a dog walking service coming by to get our 4 month old lab and they couldn't get in. With visions of dog bladder explosions all over our condo, I called Mainline and they got someone out there within 30 minutes to fix it. Here's the kicker - we've had the same problem with this lock before and, for some reason, I thought that Mainline had fixed it when they came out to fix the door-slamming-slowdown-thingy a few weeks prior. I mentioned it to the Mainline guy (it was the same guy that fixed the door before) and he very politely said he didn't recall working on the lock. And then I remembered: it was a contractor that had worked on the lock the first go around (and obviously didn't fully fix it). I acknowledged my oops and he said "don't worry about it, no payment necessary". Love it when that happens. Highly HIGHLY recommend these guys for any lock, key, or door work you need. If I could give this company 0 stars I would. WORT EXPERIENCE EVER!!! STAY AWAY!! AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE! The one thing they do - make keys - they did incorrectly. I had an extra car key made by them and it got stuck in my ignition. When I went back to them the REFUSED to refund me for the key or help me at all! The nerve! I then had to waste hours of my day driving all of the city trying to get this faulty key out of my ignition. They RUINED my ignition! I had to get in completely replaced and when I went back to them the next day they were SO RUDE! Told me to GET OUT! Literally to get out of their store because I had no claim. Unreal. I CAN'T WARN YOU ENOUGH TO STAY AWAY FROM THESE AWFUL PEOPLE! WORST ATTITUDE EVER! *** Slight edit to this review, Larry the owner/CFO was the only nice human there and did finally admit fault/pay for damages. It would make sense for me to work with Mainline security because they are 3 minutes walk from my loft. I send keys to be duplicated all the time being a real estate agent. I refer clients to Locksmith's all the time. I've gone to Mainline for years. Sometimes they can be grumpy at first, then become very cool after connecting. Today I locked myself out of my apartment on the way to an appointment. I was panicking because I also need to pick up my 3 year old. When I asked the person on the phone about if they had my key on file, the guy on the phone said no. Then I asked for a recommendation: silence. He sensed my deep frustration which I admitted. I needed help! He said "you can go somewhere else". Then put his manager or the owner on the line who said he had no appointments available today. I called another company to come and I spent $300 on a more reliable locksmith even though they are a few minute walk away. I won't likely recommend Mainline again. read more

Wow. I just walked into Mainline to get 2 keys copied. The guy greeted me as I walked in, took my 2 keys, copied them, and charged me $5.48 total($2.50 a piece plus a few cents tax). I was out of there in literally less than 100 seconds. Amazing! read more

11 am and I locked myself out of my office while running to feed the meter between appts - one of those days. With another appt looming at 12pm, I thought for sure I'd have to cancel. I called Mainline and they said someone would call back immediately. I was dubious, but sure enough, Ron called back in a couple of minutes and said that someone could come in 15-20 minutes! Professional, knowledgeable, pleasant, and experienced staff. Clean, airy, well-stocked, and wheelchair-accessible store. Not-too-difficult on-street parking. I wanted to re-key three 75 year-old locks at my house and they explained how to remove and replace the cylinders so I could do the work myself instead of having them come out. They prepared three replacement cylinders and a new deadbolt, matching my existing finish and my key specification. I'm very happy with their service and recommend them highly. read more

I went in to get a key copied and they didn't have anymore of that particular key so told me to come back later in the week, totally fine. This was the third locksmith I had been to that did not have that key type so I asked if this was a special type of key that not a lot of places had inventory of. While walking away from me, he begrudgingly moans, "We are just out of this key man." . OK, well, that is not at all what I asked you. I tried to phrase it differently but the guy just cut me off and said "Dude, we don't have that key type.". I GET THAT. I am asking you a completely separate question. very useful lil spot. the guys that work here are super nice and will bang out your keys fairly quickly. our office wanted to get some keys for a file cabinet we bought off Craig's List and Mainline made them in ten minutes with only the information on the lock! the file cabinet keys were a bit expensive ($10 for the 1st, $3.25 thereafter), but copying is MUCH cheaper ($2) and their guarantee makes it worthwhile. they also have a good selection of key rings and locks for every purpose. read more

I was looking for a couple months to find a locksmith to source and install a specialized thin deadbolt into an exterior french door. I tried numerous locksmiths, and also went in person to Don's Lock and Key, but none of them felt they could pull this off. Don's was a bit tiring, telling me to send my contractor back and see what he could figure out, and piling lock after lock on top of the counter to see if I could figure it out. By chance my wife and I were walking by Mainline Security on 7th and I popped in and explained my problem. They thought they could pull it off, then pro-actively called me the next day with a proposed solution (a special thin mortise deadbolt) and offered to send over one of their guys for an estimate. He susses the situation clearly, and Mainline gave me a firm, reasonable quote for the specialized work and specialized part. They continued to proactively call to schedule the work, and came today, completed it on time and a beautiful job. Total waste of my time. I called asking for a quote on a large key order specifically for keys that will say "Do Not Duplicate" when I hand them out. I said this multiple times on the phone to the guy I was talking to. I asked if he could do it for $3.00 a key since it was a large order and he said he would get permission from his manager. When I called back with all of the info, he said his manager approved it. When I got down there they essentially said I was lying when I told him I was quoted $3.00 a key and that it was $5.00 a key. I own a rental unit and needed to have a locksmith check out the front door lock as there were complaints that it was not working properly. I called them and the locksmith arrived on time, checked the lock and said it was ok. He took the time to also show me how to tighten it myself in case it came loose. He said all i needed was some lubricant for the lock. He did not charge me for the service call. I will definitely call this company again if I do ever need their services.
