I requested assistance with a Baldwin keyless entry for two entry doors which had settled. The deadlocks were so out of jam they became inoperable (both failed at the same time). Been using for 20 years without issue - they sold me INOX smart locks which are a poor product... they came back 3 times to adjust the door closure allowing for the auto lock to work... they even charged me for the 3rd visit to fix their install... still doesn't work but I have give up on them.... I never post negative reviews, but I'm making an exception here. Starting with the positive, their locksmith are competent (and some very competent). But the front office is a mess. The ladies who do the scheduling are extremely disorganized, and some are bordering on rude (or annoyed?). It took us 20+ calls to effectively schedule a lock repair for our front door, and I think i lost 2 years of lifespan through the aggravation. I'm really disappointed in Don's. I walked in on the week of Thanksgiving to look for a replacement latch for a window. They were out of stock at the time, but assured me that they had placed an order and that when it arrives in a week (their estimate), they would call me back. They recorded my name and number on the system. Three weeks go by and I haven't gotten a call. I called twice and both times they told me the shipment still had not arrived. I waited and today when I called they flatly told me that my information is no longer on the system. I needed a spare key for a recent condo purchase. Being "secure" keys to the front lobby, they can't (and shouldn't) be duplicated just anywhere. I'm doing a remodel and working without the help of an architect (except for the permit issues and major questions). As such I have to figure out a hundred small details, including having to understand and sort all the options for door hardware on a french door. After doing some on-line research, I realized that I need to talk to someone who could help me to understand all the technical issues and match the options best for me. (Yeah, I know, I should probably hire an interior designer....). One of the issues was that I needed hardware ASAP. Anyways, Don's Lock and Key was nearby and they had a showroom that carried some of the hardware I had tentatively identified. So, I took a chance and went down. In the event, the rep I spoke with - Terry - was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He spent a LOT of time with a customer that was only going to buy hardware for a single door. I ended up getting an entry door set, and was prepared to pay a steep price for the in-person experience (after researching on-line earlier, I knew what the on-line prices were). And I was prepared to pay the higher price in return for the all the help I received. BUT, I was shocked that the difference was not that much. HIGHLY recommended. read more

I moved to the city a couple of months ago and, for a number of reasons, have had to end up going back to this place four or five times (not the fault of the store at all). If I'm being honest, I've had great and not so good interactions with some of the employees. Some of them are just too curt and impatient. With that said, Donnie and Feris are awesome! Donnie went way above and beyond in terms of helping me get what I was looking for and giving me options well beyond what I was thinking about doing. When Feris came to install everything, I just couldn't believe how efficient, hard-working, and personable he was.
