The food here is so amazing! It is so delicious and well-made with care. My main recommendation is the beef and chicken shawarma. I love the flavors and it is absolutely something I would recommend to anyone looking for an experience that brings vibrant Mediterranean flavors together with protein! Our gyros were pressed in a sandwich press which made them extra good, crispy on outside (and easy to eat) Our son got tikka masala - they actually have no h Indian and Mediterranean food. I've been trying a few places on Door Dish this week . This was by far my favorite Mediterranean meal in some time. I got the vegetarian sampler, which gives you a choice ! I chose tabbouleh, which was chock full of veggies and so tasty. I had 2 falafels, cooked a bit crispy and flavorful. The baba ganoush was killer, best I've had in town. I didn't care as much for the spinach pastry, it was definitely improved by the tzatziki sauce which I ordered extra on side. I appreciated that the pitas were individually wrapped for freshness. I also ordered the lentil soup which was so good. Can't wait to return and try more items. I thought their prices were some of the best in town, too. read more

I went for a solo lunch to Maira. I had never heard of it before but I love Mediterranean food and happened to be nearby. The place is small and cozy, very clean. I was met by the man working the front (maybe the owner) and he was an absolute delight. I ordered the gyro platter and it was UNBELIEVABLE!! The lamb was flavorful and tender, the veggies were fresh, pita was fresh, Tzatziki sauce was fresh and lively and even the rice had immense flavor! The man even brought me a side of chicken shawarma to try and it was unreal. This is by FAR the best Mediterranean food I have found in all of Kentuckiana. I live in Indiana but will 100% drive the 20ish minutes solely to eat here again. Well done!! read more

Quite literally my favorite restaurant ever. The staff is friendly, the prices are unbeatable, and the food is incredible. I visited at least twice a week when I lived in Louisville, and even though I moved away five years ago and now live over an hour away, the staff still recognizes me every time I come in. I love trying out different places to eat when traveling, I'm glad I decided to stop by this location! The food was well priced and fresh, I asked the lady at the counter to give me and my two other guests her recommended dish. We were all pleased! Portion sizes were good and we also got complimentary hummus & pita bread on the house. The interior of the restaurant feels like a nice hole in the wall food place, very clean, nothing over the top fixture wise etc which I can appreciate. The only real complaint I have here is that it was quite hot inside making it uncomfortable for me and my 2 guests. Maybe had some AC troubles?? I will come back! read more

I had a nice meal here. I was in the area and I've been craving good Mediterranean food lately. This place almost fell right in front of my feet and I decided to check it out. I got the shish tawook plate and substituted hummus. It was really nicely made, and the hummus was tasty as well. I especially loved the white garlic toum sauce, I could eat a tub full of that. The locale, both on the inside and outside, is pretty simple and basic, but not in a bad way at all. It doesn't try to be gaudy, which I always appreciate in restaurants. They have just a small number of tables, but the food is outstanding, and they serve some of the best Indian food in town in their daily specials. I have been there many times under the new ownership - quality middle eastern with Indian specialties. I yet to have anything that did not taste clean, fresh, and well seasoned.
