There is not a more authentic Arabic restaurant in Louisville. I've traveled to Jordan, Turkey and Iraq several times and the food at the Syrian Grill is as authentic as the food in the Middle East. It's amazing! The service is excellent and the restaurant ambiance makes you think you're overseas! Wonderful hot tea is complementary and I promise you will leave stuffed !!!

Great authentic food with great service! They give you more than enough for the price.

A colleague from Syria let me in on the hidden gem that is Syrian Grill. He, rightly so, misses the food of his homeland, and has mentioned that this place gives him the warm fuzzies of home. As a plant-based person, I was worried there wouldn't be enough options, but was delighted to find I could easily and deliciously make a meal of tabbouleh, baba ghanoush, and hummus. If you are used to the typical American hummus and baba ghanoush, you may at first have some hesitation about Syrian Grill's, as they add a little more tahini and a little less salt. These are not bad things. I ordered our food to go, which was very good, as later on was definitely glimpsed to be licking the last dregs of magic off my fingers. The bread is kept in a warmer, so was perfect for scooping up my dips. The baklava is also VERY nice - definitely get this. Syrian Grill - you have my heart and my stomach.

After passing Syrian Grill so many times, I finally got the chance to order takeout from here today. And it won't be the last time. I ordered the chicken biryani meal. The pics of that bright yellow rice and giant pieces of chicken did me in. And this lived up to my expectations. This is a huge portion, and I ate it all. The chicken had the best flavor and practically fell off the bone. I didn't really need a knife to eat it. And I loved that rice. I also got a small portion of hummus. I'm always interested to see how Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurants make their hummus. This was smooth with great tang. One small suggestion, though: Please include one or two pieces of pita bread with an order of hummus or at least include that as an upcharge option. My mother-in-law, who picked up our meal, said that the restaurant offers free tea to those who are waiting. This is a nice touch! I'm looking forward to eating inside this restaurant soon!

Service was great! Super friendly and fast! Will definitely stop by again for lunch or get takeout from here! The atmosphere was very casual and comfortable. You order at the counter, food is brought to you, and then you go pay at the counter before you leave . We shared hummus, a single chicken biryani meal, and a chicken shawarma wrap with fries. All were good, but I think our favorite was the chicken shawarma wrap. When I come back I hope to try kebabs and one of the sandwiches!

My friend told me about this place last year when it opened! This time, my friends and I were grabbing bubble tea from Sharetea and decided to try this place out. They've got booths, so we sat and dined in. We all ordered the chicken shawarma which came with fries and shared a salad and hummus. Good price for the portion! Like $7 for the shawarma I think? I was stuffed and couldn't finish. Took some of it home. The salad was good! Very refreshing taste! The hummus was different but still delicious! It came with a ton of pita that we couldn't finish. I'd come back and try a falafel or something else I haven't had off the menu. Food came quick! We waited maybe 5-7 minutes for the food. Parking isn't great but we came so late in the afternoon for lunch that it wasn't too bad.

W.O.W this place was the perfect ending to our weekend gateway in Louisville. First, let me say that the service was fantastic very friendly and helpful about the menu. If you want great food that doesn't break the bank check this place out. Now let's talked about the food. Chicken Biryani- was tender and delicious it s packed with spices and flavor. The rice was off so good! Highly recommend getting extra rice (it reheats well). The chicken was tender that the bones just fall off! Tabbouleh - was such a great palate cleaner it's so fresh and delicious. None of the food pre-made even the tabbouleh. Everything is made as you order. Lamb bbq- was probably my favorite. The ground lamb meat was perfectly season and it does not taste gamey. I could easily eat 3 in one seating. Chicken Shawarma- my GF got the chicken shawarma and it's the best chicken she had ever had. It was very flavorful and it's cooked on the vertical grill. We saw them use the drippings and pour it on top of the meat to prevent it from drying.

Nice people, great food and reasonable prices. I sure was impressed and that's saying something. I got the mixed grill plate to go to share with my husband. We were both stuffed and complimentary of everything. There were a couple of pieces on the dry side and of course as with any restaurant too much sodium intake. I loved all the meats, the rice, the grilled veggies. Next time I'm going to try one of their dipping sauces. I don't think they just give those guys out but you can ask for them. While a was waiting the owner gave me a piece of baklava to try. The staff seem happy to be there which is refreshing. I can't wait to come back.

Really good Middle Eastern food. We ordered from the counter and found a nice booth to dine at. The service is very nice & we were treated kindly. We look forward to coming back.

We couldn't decide what to order, so we ended up trying a little bit of everything. The tabbouleh, hummus, falafel, and spinach pie were all fantastic. Every single side was fresh and packed with flavor. The sauces deserve their own shoutout. I would happily take home a gallon of the garlic sauce, and the tzatziki was just as addictive. My husband ordered the Mediterranean salad, and my daughter and I shared the kids' shawarma plate. The salad was massive with a beautiful variety of fresh vegetables. The beef shawarma was incredibly tender, and the basmati rice was perfectly cooked. One thing that really stood out to me was the hospitality. While we were there, a family came in just before closing and asked if they could still be served. Without hesitation, the staff welcomed them in and accommodated them with such kindness. It felt less like a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone's home. You can tell there's real care behind every ingredient and every interaction. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and homemade. It left us feeling satisfied without feeling heavy, which isn't always easy to find when eating out. Safier is the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. We'll definitely be back.

Wifey got the Swarma which is a generous portion of grilled chicken, spiced to perfection, on a bed of basmati rice. Came with a cucumber salad side and tazini sauce. Serving was large and came piping hot to the table. I received the half chicken grilled perfectly on charcoal with crispy skin which was delicious. French fries and humus were my sides. Fries were super hot and crispy. Humus was dressed with olive oil and a few chick peas. We got a side of pita bread drizzled with flavored olive oil. We also enjoyed a flavorful hot sauce that came with the meals. The place has in door and outdoor seating. About 6 tables in each space. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. Restaurant was fully booked for the night but I was told bar seating was first-come-first-served…read moreand there were spots available so I arrived. Two spaces left. Seats were spaced unusually close together but I enjoyed the atmosphere, noisy and dark, the walls covered almost entirely with photos and memorabilia from the original 1933 Jack Fry's that this newer restaurant honors. From the website, "Fry was known as a rambling, gambling kind of guy who loved amateur boxing and horse racing." I'm not much of a talker with strangers but the close spacing led to conversation, the woman to my right giving me suggestions on what to order and the man to my left things to see and do in Louisville and beyond. Complimentary bread was provided. Two kinds: a sourdough and the other one a little sweet. The butter was whipped and shaped into an attractive rosette. I don't like butter but both breads were very good on their own. I started with an appetizer of escargot, served in the standard 6-welled plate. With very garlicky melted butter, and broiled parmesan sparingly on the top. The small croutons under each snail made this relatively small dish more substantial. And it also came with more sourdough bread, toasted this time so it was even better. My entree was Pork Tenderloin. The menu explains "Pan-seared Berkshire tenderloin, baby cauliflower, swiss chard, toasted couscous, and cherry tomatoes over a wild ramp aioli, tangerine oil, and sherry gastrique topped with crispy shallots." Wow; that's quite a description! And it was quite a dish, the pork tender and all the ingredients working really well together. I researched "Berkshire tenderloin" and learned it is a "premium, boneless cut of pork from the heritage Berkshire pig. Often called the Kobe beef of pork." The portion size was quite reasonable. I had no leftovers but neither did I finish it still wanting more. Dessert was Banoffee Pie: sliced bananas, soft hazelnut toffee, Biscoff cookie crust, whipped crème fraiche. Much better than any of the ones I tried in Ireland where I first discovered this decadent dessert. More refined and pie-like than those which were more like a trifle. I really liked the hazelnut toffee topping, which was crunchy, not soft as described. Drinks were excellent too. The Manhattan was different from what I'm used to. I detected vanilla so I asked my bartender/waitress. Yes, Giffard Vanilla liqueur she said. I reread the menu and it said "Bulleit rye, Mellett Amaro, Giffard Vanilla, black walnut bitters, Luxardo cherries. I had a second, Jack's Old Fashioned: "Benchmark Bonded Bourbon [Buffalo Trace], muddled Luxardo cherry and orange, demerara syrup, Angostura Bitters." This did not disappoint either. But a second drink may have been a mistake. These were strong! So I had to walk for over 90 minutes before I felt it was appropriate to drive. But I was a tourist and there was plenty to see in the area and it was an enjoyable walk and I could work off some of this relatively large and excellent meal.
