Lentil and tomato basil soups with pita
    Lisal F.

First - it's open! Several internet search results say otherwise, but I can very much guarantee Caspian Grill is open and ready to feed you. This pleasant establishment is an order-at-the-counter and choose your table sort of place, lovely for a casual lunch or dinner. There are a few deli options as well as the regular menu with appetizers (the eggplant is particularly delicious), soups/salads/sides, sandwiches, and entrees. They also have several desserts including baklava. There are a good amount of vegetarian/vegan options, including the lentil soup which is arrives properly piping hot in an adorable single-serve Dutch oven, accompanied by perfectly warmed pita bread. My dining companions very much enjoyed the tomato basil soup (vegetarian as made with dairy) and the falafel sandwich with fries. The gentleman manning both front and back of house was very welcoming, knowledgeable, and considerate, warning us about the temperature of the soup, ensuring we had everything we could possibly need to enjoy our meal and even bussing our table at the end of the evening. Pricing is quite reasonable for the quantity and quality - Caspian Grill - I'm a fan.

tomato soup and crispy pita bread

Gyros, falafels, greek salad, fresh gelato, soup Caspian Grill has been a part of our holidays and summers since 2006 on Frankfort Avenue when he just served gelato; he would let my daughter test the homemade zesty lemon gelato. Yesterday she talked to him about it 20 years later. Falafels made on sight are the best! The Prices are very affordable too! Good to see an old friend and hope you try the lamb gyros like my other daughter. I tried the wonderful tomato soup with crispy perfect pita. Plenty of seating and yet still cozy. Place and pay for your order the counter and then it is brought to your table. #CrescentHill #Louisvilleplacestoeat

Had both standard and chicken gyro and both are excellent. The varying deserts are homemade as well.

We couldn't decide what to order, so we ended up trying a little bit of everything. The tabbouleh, hummus, falafel, and spinach pie were all fantastic. Every single side was fresh and packed with flavor. The sauces deserve their own shoutout. I would happily take home a gallon of the garlic sauce, and the tzatziki was just as addictive. My husband ordered the Mediterranean salad, and my daughter and I shared the kids' shawarma plate. The salad was massive with a beautiful variety of fresh vegetables. The beef shawarma was incredibly tender, and the basmati rice was perfectly cooked. One thing that really stood out to me was the hospitality. While we were there, a family came in just before closing and asked if they could still be served. Without hesitation, the staff welcomed them in and accommodated them with such kindness. It felt less like a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone's home. You can tell there's real care behind every ingredient and every interaction. Everything tasted fresh, balanced, and homemade. It left us feeling satisfied without feeling heavy, which isn't always easy to find when eating out. Safier is the kind of place you leave already planning your next visit. We'll definitely be back.

It was a lot of stimuli. My friend got the salmon plate, which he really enjoyed. It had a nice crisp on the skin. I had the chicken shawarma wrap. I was ready for that nice, fresh, herbal Mediterranean flavor, but I have to say, it was very bland. I also got a side of tabbouleh, which was incredibly dry and really needed some more citrus to liven it up. Pretty skippable meal for me, but would try it again if a friend wanted to grab a quick lunch seeing as the service was very good!

The portion of chicken is small compared to other places I go, and the rice (or any side) has to be ordered à la carte. There is a very small portion of grilled veggies served with the kabob, a slice of tomato and it looked like maybe onions (very charred so hard to tell). One of the things I always remember is that it is overpriced. I regularly visit other Mediterranean restaurants in the area who have as good of food (or better) and their portions are more generous and prices more reasonable. The interior is fun and funky. The staff were ok. They took our order fine, but there wasn't so much as a smile or any friendliness. It was dead in there at dinner time on a Thursday evening. I think maybe 2 other patrons came in while we waited on the food and then ate dinner, over the period of about an hour. Try it for yourself, as the food is good and you might like the funky vibe. But, if you love Mediterranean food like we do, you will likely find better local options.
