Lentil and tomato basil soups with pita
    Lisal F.

First - it's open! Several internet search results say otherwise, but I can very much guarantee Caspian Grill is open and ready to feed you. This pleasant establishment is an order-at-the-counter and choose your table sort of place, lovely for a casual lunch or dinner. There are a few deli options as well as the regular menu with appetizers (the eggplant is particularly delicious), soups/salads/sides, sandwiches, and entrees. They also have several desserts including baklava. There are a good amount of vegetarian/vegan options, including the lentil soup which is arrives properly piping hot in an adorable single-serve Dutch oven, accompanied by perfectly warmed pita bread. My dining companions very much enjoyed the tomato basil soup (vegetarian as made with dairy) and the falafel sandwich with fries. The gentleman manning both front and back of house was very welcoming, knowledgeable, and considerate, warning us about the temperature of the soup, ensuring we had everything we could possibly need to enjoy our meal and even bussing our table at the end of the evening. Pricing is quite reasonable for the quantity and quality - Caspian Grill - I'm a fan.

tomato soup and crispy pita bread

Gyros, falafels, greek salad, fresh gelato, soup Caspian Grill has been a part of our holidays and summers since 2006 on Frankfort Avenue when he just served gelato; he would let my daughter test the homemade zesty lemon gelato. Yesterday she talked to him about it 20 years later. Falafels made on sight are the best! The Prices are very affordable too! Good to see an old friend and hope you try the lamb gyros like my other daughter. I tried the wonderful tomato soup with crispy perfect pita. Plenty of seating and yet still cozy. Place and pay for your order the counter and then it is brought to your table. #CrescentHill #Louisvilleplacestoeat

Had both standard and chicken gyro and both are excellent. The varying deserts are homemade as well.

Being Saturday, I asked if I had to pay, and Patrick pulled a bunch of quarters out of a glass jar on the counter. How was that for service? I ordered the Reuben. I sat outside (a few tables) and waited for what I hoped would be an excellent sandwich. It was a perfect Reuben with perfect inhouse made pitato chips on perfect toasted rye bread (from Pittsburgh) and even a perfect crisp. pickle. The corned beef was delish. GO, and have yourself this amazing Reuben, the best I've had in Kentucky. Thanks Patrick for a great lunch. 56

This deli hits all of the high points. Matzo ball soup? Si. Corned beef and pastrami sandwiches on rye bread? Oui. Black and white cookies? But of course. Latkes? Well, this one surprised me, because I didn't think a deli would serve latkes, but why the heck not? For good measure, there's even a signed and framed photo of Larry David hanging on the wall. This is my kind of place. The thing to get here is the corned beef with pickled cabbage. The sandwiches here are huge, but you can get half of a sandwich with chips, and it's just the right portion for a nice lunch. Along with my half corned beef sandwich, I got the matzo ball soup. That's a pretty big matzo ball hanging out there, like Seinfeld would say, but it's hanging out in a clear chicken consomme. The matzo is the size of a whiffle ball, practically. It's dense but gives way easily under the slight pressure of a spoon. It's a very satisfying and comforting soup. My children shared a grilled cheese sandwich, which they liked but were thrown off at first because the cheese they used in the sandwich was white. So if you have a kid who likes yellow/orange cheese, maybe keep that in mind. There are lots of tables inside and out, but Good Belly gets very busy, and we barely got a table. This is also a great place to get takeout, if you're not feeling like fighting the crowds.

We dropped in on Oaks night and even though it was pretty busy we were able to grab two seats at the bar. The only downfall of this was the time of day and the position of the Sun blaring through the garage door windows blasting me in the face however that cannot be helped or avoided, just a heads up for anyone who is super sensitive to the sun and arrives around sunset. I started with a Sunset Spritz and looked over the menu, there are so many great options to choose from and I was really torn on what to get but decided on the blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich (you can also get grilled or fried, but the bartender recommended blackened) and an order of sweet potato fries. The fries come with a side of a smoky pineapple chutney of some sort and even though I'm not a huge fan of anything that's really smoky it was absolutely delicious and a great combo. Seriously 10/10 recommend. The sandwich was also fire! I am extremely picky about sea food, especially since I used to live near the cost so it was always fresh and it definitely did not disappoint. I was so full when we left lol My husband got the beef sliders as his entrée with a side of regular fries tossed in roasted garlic pepper. I tried them and they were just OK. The sweet potato fries are definitely where it's at! I am really looking forward to going back and trying out some new items like the Cheeseburger Hand pies, Chicken tenders or one of their boozy milkshakes ... it sounds delicious doesn't it!

I'm happy to report that although I'm not much of a drinker these days, their burgers are indeed delicious. I had the bacon cheeseburger & my friend was talked into their "Argentinian" burger by our waiter. (which has "argentinian chorizo, provolone cheese, roasted tomatoes, chimichurri sauce, caramelized onions" on it) I'm also a sucker for some good wings so I had to also try their dry run wings... all very good! It was a beautiful & warm sunny day so we got to enjoy the nice patio seating outside and still were able to see the TVs. Surprised at the lack of street noise also! Very nice area & good restaurant! Would definitely go back!

The bacon was thick and a great portion. The fries are thin and super salty. I'd recommend a different side to go with your sandwich. I noticed a pick two for a salad, soup, or sandwich. It included a drink, which made it a good deal. The menu offers several breakfast and sandwich items, plus bakery, salads, and sides. Plenty of seating and I enjoyed the brightness of the main room with its high ceilings. We had a table of 40+ people. The food came out together and our server hustled with a smile.

I started off with a diet coke and it fell flat. The menu listed a fountain drink and it was coke served from a soda gun. The carbonation wasn't strong and didn't last past the first few sips. I ordered off the breakfast menu and got the huevos rancheros and a blueberry muffin. The eggs were cooked to order and the potatoes were delicious! The muffin was okay. It was a bit on the dry side and would be skipped next time. My friend got a BLT and wasn't impressed. One piece of bread was soft while the other was hard, almost stale. It's a beautiful space but the meal was a disappointment.
